My house is only 4 years old and there has been a roof leak in which the water came through the ceiling. I had to threaten to sue the company for them to come out and repair the roof and the hole in the ceiling. Now the air vent in my great room keeps falling and is leaving dents in the flooring. I had to order a replacement. I had trouble putting it up because the drill holes in the new vent didn't match the old one and I had to drill through the metal duct work to get it to stay and repaint around the vent. The house is still settling as well. I'm almost scared to live here because the settling is loud! Im almost tempered to sell the house and just move! I would not recommend this builder! We moved in thinking a new build would be the way to go, as our realtor said to do. Since moving in 3 years ago it's nothing but a headache! We complained of a leak in the upstairs bathroom after moving in and they said it was random and went away... painted the water spots and said we were good to go... fast forward to last night and the water was pouring through the kitchen ceiling light fixture. Hired an outside plumber who showed us the tub pipes had never been sealed and has been leaking since construction! Now we have to pay to have the floor ripped up so the tub we bathe our 2 year old in won't fall thru the ceiling!! This isn't the first issue. Our neighbor had their ceiling collapse into their kitchen for the same sort of issue! All walls are crooked as hell, nail pops EVERYWHERE, I'm talking hundreds of nail pops! Read up on the company and see that EVERYONE has these issues and I suggest you run far away from purchasing with this company!! I watched other houses in the neighborhood being built and know they did NOT put waterproofing down before putting the roof shingles on other houses.. only a matter of time before they have issues. After posting this message last night, I quickly received a call from Heather, the sales agent at DR Horton this morning. Once she shared my details with Corporate, they did not make me transfer, they actually refunded my $4,000. She did not have the full details of our situation and once they did, they quickly made it right. Updating my review because they did the right thing once they understood all of the facts. Great customer service and addressing immediately. Thank you Heather! No Values My family and I were transferred for work to Mooresville, NC.  We did most of our house hunting virtually due to Covid and tight timeframes.  We put down a $4,000 deposit for a home in Atwater Landing Traditions in Mooresville, NC.  While our sales agent, Heather Smith, attempted to help us.  Corporate said no. My husband and children are African American. We have been living in temp housing for one month and in that short time, I have been assaulted to the point of ending up in the Emergency Room with years of physical therapy that will be needed for me to recover, my husband has been called a n*gger at least twice and told "you don't belong here boy."  After being assaulted this past weekend, we have had enough of Mooresville.  We wanted to keep our commitment to DR Horton and simply requested to transfer our deposit to another DR Horton site where our family could be safe.  Heather tried to make it happen, but corporate could care less and said no.  Some nonsense about the proper site getting credit.  A lie that was debunked by one of their own at Lanier Landing in Charlotte. So they have our $4,000, mere pennies to these people.  Because that's more important than the safety of our family.  I offered police reports, nobody cared.  Better to move us to a neighborhood where we are not safe so you can keep your contract.  Looking at all of their white executives, it's no wonder.  Probably just another family of n*ggers to them. I am disgusted and pulled out completely, technically homeless in a few months.  Worth it so we don't do business with a company as disgusting as yours.  Just know, as a corporate person myself, I will make it my duty to let the world know just how money hungry and disgusting this company is.  It is my duty as a citizen of this country.  Something hey claim on their website, but know nothing about. Lies, False expectations, let downs, poor communication. This is what "America's Builder" is all about. We were promised by the seller that we would close on our home by end of September. "If anyone can do it, it would be us. I am confident in our builder and we can do it without a problem." Closing was finally done on mid November! After 3-4 extensions of closing dates. After deposit was made, communication started to be less and less active. Words said became less and less accurate. Their word began to mean nothing. Closing dates were blabbered around like a joke. No respect for your time, no sense of urgency. Our initial walk through was scheduled without the house being done, and cleaning crew on the premises in the middle of cleaning the house. No communication on that prior to the walk through, to simply just postpone for later time. At the closing table, they were still bringing up issues and made it a horrible experience even at the very end to provide the keys. Although we brought it to their attention that their calculation were incorrect prior to closing. They then, at the last minute said I had to go to a Bi-Lo to get a money order for $99 in order to get the keys. Definitely not the experience you want to go through for buying a home. Here we are a week after the 14 day walk through that should've been done. Still nothing. Many defects or things pointed out in the initial walk through were just brushed under the rug. Worst company I have ever dealt with. The craftsmanship is horrible, the people are liars gus and jeff are the two biggest liars out of all of them. I had gus tell me the only way to fix my home was wreck it and start over. Jeff the foreman has zero knowledge or know how to be in charge of building. The warranty dept is trash. If you want pictures email me joesmither@outlook.com. save yourself the trouble and buy a modular home they are purchased together better. I have wood rotting because flashing was installed wrong. Gaps between windows and walls let's air in. Not one square wall in my house. This is the whole neighborhood with similar issues. They are being sued everywhere for the same issues. I am about to live on the street. Do not believe the closing date they give. The closing coordinator has absolutely no idea how to arrange a closing date. The weather reason is totally not acceptable! I don't expect everything goes well. Just add those factors in, and give the the final real actual closing date! I bought my house and have lived there less than 2 months and it's falling apart! I thought Kensington Express was supposed to be high quality but the work they did in my home is awful. Vanities and ceiling fans installed horribly. There is a true lack of quality. I purchased out of state thinking buying a new construction home would be safe and require no maintenance at least for a a year. The wiring in my kitchen is faulty ... they ruined our cabinets with some crap that was left on there... the dishwasher still doesn't work properly...my bathroom fan is fan is falling off the ceiling... crown molding is fucked! Heating in one of the bedrooms don't work... I would recommend to use another builder .... read more

If you are looking to buy in Chandler Pointe Rural Hall, NC (DR Horton) make sure quiet isn't something high on your priority list. The beltway is nearby and the traffic noise is loud! DR Horton said NO to having a sound barrier wall built around our community. This area used to be rural with lots of trees but now it's 400+ homes. HOA does not address home owners requests.
