It cannot go without saying, the place was packed at 2pm on a Saturday in August. Locals must love it. I'm new to the neighborhood and have not decided if I can be a regular. The Menu is packed full of salivating descriptions. We will be back to try other items, despite my disappointment in the burger. My daughter loves the pulled pork sandwich on the gluten-free bun, and my wife enjoyed her chicken bacon club sandwich. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. I find if a restaurant can get a bacon cheeseburger and onion rings right they're worth a second go. I read in the description of this restaurant that they have generous portions, I order onion rings at five onion rings, that's not generous in my book. The onion rings were greasy and clearly fried in the same oil that fish is fried in. My wife and I had completely opposite experiences with the bun, she said hers was light and fresh. Mine was cold and stale. The burger tasted as if it was a hard pressed frozen patty that have been microwaved. I'm sure it wasn't microwaved. It just had that dense bland flavor in texture. The environment was definitely family friendly, and our server "Emma" was very sweet. She was not overbearing, nor was she absent. A coworker recommended D. Rowe's in Columbia, MO, so I decided to check it out for lunch on a Tuesday. It's a little hidden away, but honestly, if you have your windows down, just follow the smell of smoked BBQ and you'll find it. As soon as I walked in, the smoky aroma hit me in the best way possible. It immediately made me want something off the smoker, even though I was only planning on a lighter lunch. I sat at the bar and was greeted by Grace, who was friendly, attentive, and quick to bring over a menu and get my drink started. Since it was my first visit and I wasn't overly hungry, I asked Grace what she recommended. She suggested the smoked wings, so I went with those. They came out pretty quickly, and before long I had a dozen golden-brown smoked wings in front of me. They were excellent. The wings had great smoky flavor, were cooked perfectly, and weren't dried out like smoked wings sometimes can be. The portion was generous, too. I only made it through six and saved the rest for dinner, which was a nice bonus. Overall, D. Rowe's made a great first impression. I was not blown away at all with the food here. The wings were good but nothing crazy, not a lot of flavor past being a salty smoked wing. The burger was very dry and hard to eat. The mushrooms were okay. Old fashioned and espresso martini were good but very expensive. Overall just not a fantastic experience. We started with some appetizers-portobello fries and smoked wings. The wings were some of the best I've ever had. Subtle smoky flavor and cooked perfectly. Fall off the bone. I've never had portobello fries (sliced mushrooms with a light batter fry). Addy C is an amazing server that recommended the best entrees (KC Strip and Ribeye). This is more than a great sports bar. We have a family with very different preferences in food and D. Rowe's had something for everyone! We started off with the nachos + chicken and portobello mushroom fries - the mushroom fries were a pass, but the nachos + chicken were a major hit. Every chip had something on it and did we absolutely fill up on appetizers? 100%. But no regrets there. We ordered brisket sandwich (yum), rotisserie chicken (meat was tad bit dry, nothing a little bbq sauce can't fix, skin was crispy how I liked it), Cajun catfish (a little heavy on the salt, otherwise delish). For sides, definitely get the waffle fries which were super crispy. Service was amazing, our waiter was cracking jokes with us and made sure baby was entertained during our meal with some crackers. After our meal we were gonna literally roll out of the restaurant, they gave us soft-baked chocolate chip cookies for dessert (which they kindly packed up for us to go). A bit hard to find as signage isn't fantastic and the location is in a professional office building...but once you walk in, totally transformed to a neighborhood bar. Highly recommend the wings...great smoky flavor, wife loved them (and she isn't even a wing person!) The French Dip is HUGE! A definite meal you can split with your bride. Someone came by to apologize (maybe the manager), since he forgot to let the servers know we were seated out on the patio. The menu had lots of options, but we went with an appetizer and shared an entree. - Potato skins (4.5/5): YUM!! These were surprisingly very tasty! I was expecting basic potato skins, but these were loaded with so many toppings, and we added pulled pork. The crispness was perfect - BBQ feast (4/5): so much food, perfect to share! It came with pulled pork, andouille sausage, brisket, ribs. All were cooked well, the ribs literally fell off the bone. Pulled pork was flavorful. The BBQ sauce was pretty sweet, I prefer it to be more spicy though - Baked potato (4.5/5): it was HUGE! We got all the toppings, and it was perfect! - Waffle fries (4/5): these are classic waffle fries. Love how some were crispy, and not too salty. Overall, great food! After a long day driving, stopped in to D. Rowe's for an early dinner. Sat at the bar and ordered a beer and the brisket sandwich. Food arrived quickly and was hot. I would recommend the onion rings. However, a few minutes later the day bartender told me it was shift change and the 2 oncoming bartenders would take good care of me. The food was good, although the brisket was a tad dry. My beer glass was empty and I waited for a bartender to come over and ask how my meal was and if I needed another beer. Nothing. Not even eye contact. Keep in mind this is 4:15 on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Also, I had 2 people that were obviously regulars seated next to me that the new bartenders frequented, but I couldn't even get a glance. After I was done with everything, the original bartender came back out and asked if I needed anything. I told her I'd have loved another beer, but I was done eating at that point. To be fair, she offered to give me another beer, but I declined. Food was above average, unfortunately the service was poor...even when you're sitting directly in front of the bartenders.
