This was due to the large number of folks who signed up for each of his free class but failed to show up. There are a lot of flaky peeps out there who take up spots in class while others who really want to come to class and learn are put on the waiting list and do not get to come to the class. Charging a small $10 fee ensures only those who are serious about learning comes. And judging from last night, it worked! It is definitely worth every penny we paid as every time I learn something new and it does not make sense that he does not charge as he has bills to pay and he needs to make a living!! Now the class size is much smaller; there were only 6 of us last night, and each of us got to ask more questions and get more individual attention. Another great lesson on how to effectively manage your work flows starting from your camera to the organization and file structures on your computer. Most of us in class use Light Room so he focused more time on that. Len is definitely a great teacher and I especially appreciate that he takes the time to explain using examples and to make sure you understand each concept, as opposed to just rushing through his course materials without knowing if the class is really learning. (This is in contrary to another class I took at another guy's photography workshops.) He does not rush and is quite patient if the class is not getting it. He'll explain even in more details and using more examples. A couple months ago I also took his lighting workshop and learned about the basics of using strobe and even got some equipment from him for real cheap. I do not understand the one star rating from someone on Yelp. If you look around everyone gives a 5-star rating. What she described about Len does not sound like him at all. She must have got it on a wrong date, or went to a wrong address, or whatever. Note that once you get to the location, the door is sometimes close especially in winter time as the studio is cold. You can just go ahead and open the door as it is unlocked when he has a class. Len is a very nice guy and he has been in the photography business for at least 20 years. He knows how to work with and serve clients so this negative review looks very fishy. Anyway I found out he is going to teach a 6-week series on Light Room in which you will learning every module including the developing module. This is what I am looking for so I am looking forward to taking the class soon.

Len and Scott are my favorite photographers there - they always make me feel welcome and confident, and perhaps most importantly, the pictures always turn out gorgeous. They are both super flexible and enthusiastic about any changes I want to make - they make me feel like I'm running the show! I have recommended the studio to my friends who have wanted to try modeling or just get professional shots done, and those that have gone have always been happy with their pictures.
