Each pilón is a handcrafted piece which is truly original. We love ours and bought it from this place several years back. If you don't want a large one you can by whatever size you like. In addition they have plenty of other traditional crafts as well. Bottom line is if you want an original piece from the island this is a spot to hit. They are located in Guavate which is a very touristy place to visit, so if you are on the island and what to support local artisans, this is a place to go.

They have beautiful art and crafts from local artisans - from jewelry to paintings to photographs to ceramic and more. Everything is so unique and special; nothing mass produced. There were several pieces I wanted to buy, but I settled on a small painting and a large framed photo. The only problem is the photo in the frame was too big to take on the plane back home. The store could not take the photograph out of the professional framing, but they took my information and reached out to the artist to see if she could bring in a copy of the photograph without a frame. They called me back a couple of weeks later, the artist had brought in the photo and they were happy to ship to me. I have never had such wonderful service from a store where they went out of their way to make a customer happy. 10/10 definitely would recommend for unique finds, great customer service, and to support local artists.

They were super nice and showed us all the cool artwork that were there we were there and then we end up coming back to pick up some of the luminescent fishes and some sweets as well. For example, the same hats in the Old San Juan district were $24.99, but at this shop they were $14.99, and at the airport they were $29.99. Magnets were $12 for 4 or $12 for 3, depending on the type you wanted. I saw magnets in Old San Juan for $6.99-$7.99 each and at the airport for $8.99-$9.99 each. The bottom line is that most everything is made in China, Thailand, or elsewhere, not in Puerto Rico, so does it really matter which store or where you got it? No, not really. James Souvenirs Shop is literally less than a 10 minute walk from where the ships dock. As I was checking in to Yelp, James pointed out the sign I missed and gave me a discount for the check in. My only regret is that I never found this shop before!
