Fun little store to walk-through a lot of independent artists making their craft and sell it. The owners were very lovely people and ironically enough they were from the area we were from in California but has been out here since 89. They were super nice and showed us all the cool artwork that were there we were there and then we end up coming back to pick up some of the luminescent fishes and some sweets as well. A lot to look at and so many things for everyone. I love that they had a little bird whistle that sing as well when you add water. read more

The staff, especially the señora, is welcoming and will patiently help you choose - maybe even offer you deals (shipping/ taxes). Visited the store during my recent visit to Puerto Rico and found they had beautiful artwork. The salesperson was very helpful and told me that if I liked something, they would ship it to my home in California for free. I found a beautiful painting that I really liked and decided to order it and have shipped. They said it would take around 2 weeks and that they would email me when it was ready to ship. 2 wks. came and went and no email. By the 3rd week I emailed them-no response, I called and the gentleman that answered said he would look into it but never got a return call. Luckily, my painting just arrived-never got an email or phone call. 5 stars for the great customer service from the young lady in the shop and beautiful artwork. -2 stars for their horrible communication and lack of concern for the customer after they've gotten your money. read more

We have had a similar problem As another reviewer except we were charged for the shipping of two paintings and paid for it all while visiting Puerto Rico. We were told it would take about two weeks to ship to us in SC but that was in early February and now it's April with no paintings and no return phone call. Mrs. Rosa is the one who helped us and took our money! She assured us we would get the two paintings promptly and took down all of our information! I thought she was such a nice lady! What a great little art store in the heart of Old Town San Juan. This isn't a bunch of tourist junk. This is real art, lovingly assembled and thoughtfully displayed. My wife and I, along with another couple, visited the store on a trip to Puerto Rico during the end of February. On the positive side, there was some beautiful artwork and the proprietors were friendly and well-informed about the local artisans. In fact, my wife and I purchased a wooden/painted sculpture for several hundred dollars - and our friends purchased a painting for a little more than what we paid. The only complaints we had (but significant ones) were that (1). the elderly lady assured us of how well she would pack our sculpture to bring onto our plane (we were nervous about shipping it). However, with some of the jostling that went on, we got home to find that it was broken. The "great packing" job included one flimsy strip of bubble-wrap (the kind with very tiny bubbles) that didn't even cover the entire sculpture. What should have been used was large bubble wrap AS WELL AS popcorn to add support by filling in the spaces between the different panels on the sculpture. Needless to say, it ended up costing us $100 to have the sculpture fixed at a professional art shop -- but a section of one of the panels was damaged beyond repair. And (2). our friends were charged $75.00 for "FedEx Shipping." Instead, after a long period of waiting for their painting to arrive, they saw that it had been shipped via U.S. Mail - which they could have paid for themselves for roughly $20 to $25.00. The cynic in me wonders whether this was a misrepresentation to simply offset the "discounted price" they were offered to encourage them to purchase the painting. I won't discourage anyone from browsing the shop, as there are certainly many wonderful objects to admire and, perhaps, even acquire. However, let the buyer beware - make certain to inspect ANY packing job before either shipping or carrying it onto a plane, in order to avoid disappointment and additional costs. Also, I recommend that buyers make their OWN arrangements with FedEx - that way they can be assured that they're getting what they pay for. read more
