No garbage booze, everything - from the value brands up to the top shelf spirits - all seem to be good brands. Their everyday prices are fair, and their sales are usually really good deals. It's worth browsing, and seeing if something new-to-you is on sale. On my previous two trips, I grabbed something new on sale, and enjoyed them. This time, fifths of my top 3 favorite sipping whiskeys were on sale. If you enjoy whiskey, definitely check out their selection. They have some great bang-for-you-buck favorites to pick from. I'm not a big tequila drinker, but I saw some pretty well reviewed brands on the shelf too. The same guy has rung me up each time I checked out; he's really friendly and willing to help. There was my group of four, a twosome, and an 18-person birthday party who were loud and bossy, directing where we outsiders could stand for the class. At one point it appeared that our party of four was going to be split into 3/1. The bar (?)/boutique (?) should have booked the rude party as a private event. The party took over, taking selfies, and serving cake to everyone including the staff while we 6 outsiders watched. Did I want cake? Not at all. Did I find it rude? Absolutely. I also question if the birthday party showed up with more guests than expected because the staff had to rearrange cocktail stations to fit us outsiders. The staff never asked us to check in or provide our names to confirm that we had paid for the event, so perhaps if this is usually a free experience, I would enjoy it more.

I've…read morebeen doing the dirty around these parts for a little over a year now and it wasn't until just a few weeks ago that I finally made the trip in to what looks like some cruddy, run-down, sad-sad, liquor store in a mostly vacant and/or abandoned Palatine strip mall and I was blown away with a selection of sauces that would put a smirk on even a novice boozehound and/or liquor-pig. Shame.On.Me. I'll just say this up front, I don't know jack sh*t about wine. It's not really my thing, and I'm happy just going with whatever bottle has the best artwork and still manages to remain nominally priced. Basically, they might have a great or crappy wine selection, but I couldn't tell you. They had that Barefoot stuff, though... that's the classy one, right? Where this place shines is fo sho its beer selection. It's not huge, but they carry a lot of pretty rare stuff and a bunch of the stuff the other big box booze stores don't have. They do set limits on certain things, like maximum 2 per person on some bottle, but honestly, I'm a sucker for supply and demand so that kind of thing really excites me. Their selection is always changing and they're open later than any of the other bottled booze purveyors in this area. It's probably not a destination place, but if you're within a 12-15 minute range of here, it's worth popping over for a peak at their products.

Sometimes you go into a liquor store and it's just grim, grim, grim, with creepy lighting, dusty shelves, and cashiers that look like they want to die and they wish you were dead too. Mr. A's is the total OPPOSITE. It's clean, has a great selection of alcohol, mixers, and snacks, and yeah, I guess the lighting isn't creepy because I've never really noticed it? I typically just see two employees here, one of whom I think might be the Mr. A! He is extremely warm and friendly and always smiling. The second man is a little more reserved but always very nice and polite. There is this adorable little black dog one of them has, that's kind of the store mascot it seems. There are rather professional looking photos of him/her around the store, greeting customers and making recommendations. I think that's a nice touch. I wish the actual dog could be in the store-how awesome would it be to have a little pooch helping you make a wine selection? Only thing that would make the place better, in my opinion.
