Don't follow the negative reviews you find here about Tievoli. Especially the ones that complain about service, or the lack of water, etc. If you do, you may miss as a gem of a restaurant and one of the best 'real' pizzas in Chicago. I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it. read more

Really cute pizza place in Palatine. There's lots of seating inside and you order either through a QR code at your table or at the front. They use the inkind system so you can earn cash back dining here. Pizza is on the pricier end but everything is good quality and made fresh. I got the tievoli pizza which tasted fresh from the basil sprinkled on top and was definitely the favorite of the night. My husband got the honey sriracha pizza. We also shared the beet salad which we both loved. The dressing was perfect with high quality olive oil and went great with the walnuts, goat cheese and beets. Would definitely come back! Ordered delivery for 5:45, and they made the pizza earlier than what we were ready for and said it would be delivered at 5:20. We called and told them we didn't want it until 5:45...that's when we scheduled the delivery. We weren't going to arrive at the friend's house until closer to 5:45. I knew what was about to happen was that they would let the food sit and wait for the requested delivery time, then deliver us cold, chewy pizza. That's exactly what they did, and we received tough, chewy, cold pizza that they let sit for 45 min because they didn't give us a fresh order, after they screwed up. This pizza place makes a great pizza and beyond. My wife and I came here for a dinner. The staff was great and provided helpful recommendations. Pizza was fantastic, the pasta dish was flavorful and we couldn't get enough of their burrata and oven roaster cherry tomatoes app (B&B) The restaurant has a big dinning room with a number of large tables to accommodate families but also smaller tables in the back for more quiet/intimate dinner experience. Found this cute pizza spot in Palatine and loved it. It's definitely a hidden gem and now it's going to my go to spot. Loved the vibe and ambience of this place. The service is also good. You can order your food and then get seated at the table and they bring the food to you. The menu has nice variety. We tried a bunch of starters, pasta and pizza. The pizza I highly recommend. We didn't eat at the restaurant but had to try this place from all the hype we've been hearing. We ordered it on a Saturday and took 20 minutes for a 16' cheese. Delicious! We liked it so much that we ordered it again on Sunday, another 16' cheese and this time trying the Detroit style. Both were amazing and we were very pleased! I actually found out about this place from work, they told me they won some awards for their pizzas. Their parking lot is shared and if it's busy, you won't be able to find a spot. I believe they have public parking lots and a garage but I read mixed reviews about those. It's best to come on a week night or non peak hours on the weekends. Service was very friendly. Prices were good. Inside is pretty nice and clean. Tons of seating. You order your food at the counter then they bring the food to you. We ordered one Tievoli small and one honey sriracha Detroit style. The portions were bigger than we anticipated which was great for leftovers. -Tievoli 5 - thin, crispy crust the way I like it. Nice balance of flavor, not too salty not too sweet. Good pizza for anyone. -Honey sriracha 5 - the Detroit style has a doughier crust. It's thick and airy. Crust is very crispy. New favorite pizza place in the burbs!! Our first visit was for carryout and (wow!) did this pizza deliver. Not only was our order ready extremely quick (15 min when quoted 30), the flavor and quality was insane. Crust is thin and crispy, not floppy like a classic Neapolitan. Edges were light, chewy yet crunchy. Can't wait to try all they have to offer! Food reviews: Oro Bianco--first thing that hit me was the smell of garlic! Amazing crisp from the Parmesan and creamy counterpart from the ricotta. Sausage went well if you're looking to add protein. BBQ--jalapeño relish was the star! From the moment you walk in, you'll notice how inviting it is, super clean with a really cool, modern vibe. It definitely sets a great atmosphere for a meal. But let's get to the main event their Tievoli Detroit style pizza. Seriously, it's a game changer. I went for the 10x14, and WOW doesn't even begin to cover it. The flavors were just exploding that perfect crispy, burnt cheese edge, the amazing sweetness from the bacon jam and truffle honey... it's like a symphony in your mouth. Truly, if there's a Ferrari of Detroit style pizzas, this is it. Plus, you get six generous slices, and the dough was absolutely spot on, perfectly cooked and airy. My boys are usually tough critics, but their 16" pepperoni pizza was a massive hit with them too they're already asking when we can go back. Oh, and before I forget, you absolutely have to try their buffalo chicken dip. It was seriously BOMB! My only tiny note would be that it could use a couple more pita wedges to scoop up all that deliciousness, but that's a minor detail. Beyond the incredible food, the service was fantastic super attentive and friendly. You can tell it's a popular spot because they were absolutely buzzing with to go orders, even though we went during the dinner rush. It's always a good sign when a place is that busy and still manages to keep things running smoothly. Some of the best pizza we've had in this area. We got the sausage and pepper pizza and the pear salad. The salad comes with Gorgonzola cheese but they were happy to substitute goat cheese. The salad was delicious. The pizza crust had good chew and was firm all the way through. The sausage was really tasty and plentiful. Mozzarella Balls: these were awesome, I wish the Marinara sauce wasn't so tough to dip, it's really chunky, they should reconsider the price, $10 for 8ish small bites is way too much Pizza: the pizza was okay, the sausage had weird stale/cardboard taste to it, I thought it was the crust at first, but I separated sauce/cheese/crust/sausage apart and found the awkward taste was mostly coming from the sausage, not a very appetizing. Despite that weird taste, the pizza was cooked perfectly, nice crunchy crust, sauce was awesome, cheese was great. It's a shame the sausage brought this pizza score down for me. I'm going to give this spot another try, but imma try pepperoni next time and see if I taste it again. Water: this seems like a really odd thing to criticize but wow, there tap water is dreadful. It tasted like it had been sitting in a plastic cup for days, I had to stop drinking it because there's no way it's healthy. I wonder if the awful tap water is contributing to the weird taste I described in the sausage. What a treat for Father's Day! Down in the area to watch our granddaughter perform at dirty Nelly's and found this within a mile from that venue. The most delicious bread and crust on pizza that we've had in a long time. We enjoyed a spinach salad, split a spicy meatball sub, and a small pepper and sausage pizza. After seeing a Yelper's photos recently of some deep dish pizza, I expressed a wish for some Detroit-style pizza with lots of tomato sauce and cheese. Someone in my household thought it would be interesting to sample several pizzas in a pizza war, pitting pizza against pizza, slice vs slice in a palate popping duel to the stomach (not my idea, I would have been happy with one decent slice). Challenger #3 arrived at the home via delivery and was lukewarm, given that it had a very far way to go. Honestly, this was the fault of our pizza organizer because they should have kept the pizzerias within 10-15 minutes of our home. The pizza from Tievoli Pizza Bar had delicious sausage, lots of fennel flavor, and a generous application of fresh basil (classy!) This restaurant was nestled in a strip mall in downtown Palatine. What brought us here was the availability of Gluten Free pizza crust, and it did not disappoint!! The restaurant has a chic black and gold decor, so it's different than other pizza place. Let's get back to the food. The Gluten Free pizza crust is one of the few that made us forgot we were eating a GF pizza! The crust has an airy and bubbly texture, and you could hold it up like a regular slide of pizza. We ordered a simple cheese with sausage and pepperoni pizza, but there are other specialty pizza. I ordered a salad as well, and it was fresh and delightful. This used to be one of my favorite pizza places. I met a friend on Friday and couldn't believe I was in the same place. It took over 50 minutes to get our pizza. Not only that but water was dripping onto the table we were sitting at from the air conditioning ducts. This was happening on several tables so we didn't move. When our pizza came they placed it right under the dripping water! I grabbed it and said, nope! Fortunately, another table opened up that did not have water dripping onto it. So it's not often that I try a pizza place and think to myself that this is a "truly exceptional" creation, but Tievoli Pizza Bar has managed to earn that distinction. Even outside of their wonderful pizza, this restaurant is quite a joy to visit with a fun dining room that is bright and elegant with small decorations here and there to give an upscale but casual feel to the spot. The desserts such as the flourless chocolate cake and dough bites are full of flavor and refined. The service here is friendly though you have to be prepared for a wait to get your pizza when it's busy, but it's well worth it. Without a doubt, the star of the show here is the pizzas of which the quality is evident from the first bite. This is not only due to the quality of the ingredients, but also the care in which they take to prepare the pizza. The toppings are carefully selected, prepared in a way to retain the optimal texture after baking - arranged in a colorful and attractive manner. The flavor combinations are carefully balanced, aggressive with restraint in a way that you'll feel like you've enjoyed a party for your senses but not be overwhelmed by too much of a good thing. I'm also quite impressed with their mix of creamy elements on some pizzas, not something that I've alays seen incorporated successfully at some other places. Though the cheese, sauces, and toppings are delicious, the foundation of this all that ensures a consistently delightful experience is the dough. It's really stretched out quite well here to be just thin and crispy enough but with just the slight bit of chew and a few bubbles here and there. It's quite impressive with how they've achieved this with what seems to be a fairly wet dough. I find the flavor to match quite well with their ingredients and have and in a way feel like an all-crust loaf of artisan bread. Overall, excellent pizza that's worth a special trip. We came by for dinner on a Friday night with some friends and sat by the front, we heard great things and of course needed to try it all! Well, we did get a good amount. To start, if you're not looking for the restaurant it is quite easy to miss as it's located in a small strip with limited parking. But there are tons of street parking as well, so there's not a difficult search. Once you walk into the restaurant you're greeted with the signs, and the string lights. Once you're seated, you have to go to the counter to order your food and beverages but they bring it right over to you. You'll leave a card in file to keep a tab open just like you're at a bar. To start, we got the fries and the garlic knot. They came out speedy quick for us to munch on while trying to figure out which pizzas to try. The garlic knots were full of flavor but the truffle friends were the star. They were fried perfectly with just enough truffle taste where it's not overpowering. For our pizzas we got the Tievoli, Figeddaboutit, and Hell Raiser. The Figeddabout it was delish, the perfect combo of sweet and savory. The Tievoli has a slight kick to it but was certainly my second favorite. The last was the Hell Raiser knowing I'm sensitive to heat I didn't eat much of this one but the burata on top really does help balance out the heat. You seat yourself wherever you want but have to order from the front counter, they don't have any waiters or waitresses that take your order. After we figured that out and got the food it was pretty cool. Very busy and for good reason, the food was really good. We got garlic knots that were awesome and came with some really good marinara sauce. We also had the buffalo chicken dip that came with pitas and they were great too. What an awesome pizza place! Tievoli Pizza Bar is located in Palatine and is such a chic and cute spot for various different type of pizzas. They even have pickle ranch pizza (!!!!!) which is awesome (I don't see that often in the burbs if at all). The staff was terrific - they're so hospitable, hardworking, and always on top of everything. The owner, Giovanni, was very approachable and friendly. Weird note but the bathrooms are like beyond nice (lol). Super clean and posh, just like the space itself! If you're looking for some delicious pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches, come to Tievoli! Its like a different world when you walk in. The place is so nice! Whoever decorated the place did a very nice job! My favorite was their pizza called HELL RAISER its not super spicy but it has enough of a kick, i even put chili flakes on mine not knowing it would be spicy still loved it! I also loved their Ceasar Salad. Lettuce and croutons. Simple yet delish! Of course I had to buy their Spicy Honey and the staff was telling me you can put it on anything! I have ordered a few pizzas from here carry out and absolutely love the wood fired pizza. I know there are a few other places around it to get pizza but this is better than both. One is a sports bar with rude owner/regulars and the other place is meh and a new location. Around lunchtime today I got a craving for one of their pies. I called and ordered a fig-etaboutit. It has fig jam, prosciutto, cheese, and then they put arugula and balsamic glaze drizzled on top. It was an excellent Saturday lunch today(perfect pizza)!!! I want to try some other ones but I can't get enough of this fig one. Sounds odd but it's DELICIOUS. I have only had carry out but the ambiance is nice.
