Extremely reasonable pricing, staff were so friendly- we had Chris and he went above and beyond to make our dinner nice. and the food... was so delicious!! We will be back... ASAP! If you're looking for a palatine gem... look no further!!

I could not believe that I haven't been to this spot until recently! I used to pass by a lot, but never decided to go in until this past weekend. Let me just say it's definitely a place to go check out. The whole restaurant had a cozy feel to it, and the staff was so greeting. We got sat right away and I loved all the plants in the restaurant. The menu was really nice with options to add flavors into your coffee plus they are more than willing to modify your dish. The food was really good and definitely would recommend checking this place out!!

Cafe Fourteen lived up to its reputation as a cozy local gem with friendly service and a welcoming vibe. I had the breakfast sliders and hashbrowns, and they were really good, well cooked, and great portions. It is easy to see why people keep coming back for breakfast and brunch here.

Cafe Fourteen is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, we're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere .The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, ensuring you feel right at home. The menu is thoughtfully curated, offering a delightful mix of options for all tastes. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled by the creative and flavorful plant-based choices. . For coffee lovers, their lattes are perfectly brewed, and indulgent. What sets Cafe Fourteen apart is the attention to detail--every dish is beautifully presented, and the flavors are well-balanced. The ambiance, with its soft lighting and tasteful decor, makes it an ideal spot for both relaxing solo visits and casual gatherings with friends.pancakes really good. If you're looking for a cafe that combines exceptional food, great service, and a welcoming vibe, Cafe Fourteen is the place to be. Highly recommend stopping by--you won't be disappointed!

Ok, first of all. Get a booth, they can be moved enough to accommodate most larger people. If you dare you can sit at one of the tables but I strongly suggest the bar or a booth if you don't want to have a sore arse by the end of your dining. Cafe 14, REPLACE THESE CHAIRS! Each chair is worth $40,000 a month if you run the tables at full turnover. I never see the tables busy because, the seating sucks. Bar seats nice soft and good place to chill talk some business and politics with the folks and chew. Booths nice soft place to chill and eat. Tables? Let's eat and run. (After paying) If this is how you increase turnover you're doing it wrong. Making it so uncomfortable people will never return to the tables is bad. It restricts us in areas usable of the restaurant. Replace The Chairs These things are original to the restaurant I think! Bathrooms are impressively clean (I'm female so didn't check the men's room) The food is as usual the classic Cafe 14 originals The new coffee selection is impressive, lavender honey mocha, yummy. Not strong like usual coffees, extremely smooth and flavorful, hints of the coffee bean are well hidden behind the smoothing honey and milk along with the lavender essence. Definitely a good drink and at this price be prepared to drink two of them as they're economical tasty and come in tons of flavors to experiment with. The crepes require some assembly, and extra asking for ingredients that used to be standard. These things used to come with a gravy boat of whip cream on the side. And often they'd serve it with whip cream across each piece. Now you have to ask for it, but it's still offered. Yum! They probably would done it my way if someone I know was working the kitchen but this is a weekday mid day and we usually hit afternoon or early morning. Hitting for lunch is unusual. So them not having "the usual" for me is excused. Replace the bloody chairs. Then we talk five stars.

Another amazing brunch at Cafe Fourteen. The food is consistently good. The host always greets us with a smile, the servers are so friendly and it's such a cozy place to enjoy my favorite meal of the day. You'd think eggs are easy to get right, but I've been to a ton of new breakfast spots, many of which didn't have good omelettes - the omelettes here are always fluffy and perfectly cooked. It's still at the top of my list for a diner!

Good food at good prices. Went for a brunch on a Sunday at 11 a.m., and it was super crowded by local people catching up. I recommend reservations. Ambiance: it's an average diner, but the service is very friendly and efficient, and our server was great.

Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out. Located across from the railroad tracks and near the Metra station, Dario's is a local institution that serves up tasty sandwiches and more. I liked their sandwiches options on the menu. The variety was good. I ordered their Fiesta Panini that's made with pulled pork, habañero aioli, muenster cheese, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I wanted something to drink and I saw that they have homemade lemonade with cool, different flavors. I got me a small Guava Lemonade. My panini was freshly prepared. It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The staff were friendly and helpful. I liked Dario's a lot and will be going for more. Check them out.

I grabbed a dozen rose (a classic go-to for me) and also tried the limoncello and the caramel bacon. The limoncello was really good--the custard lemon filling inside was flavorful and smooth. The rose was delicious, just how it should be. The caramel bacon was something new for me; it had that savory-sweet combo that's definitely a specific taste. Not for everyone, but interesting to try! Overall, a solid spot to grab pączki for Fat Tuesday.

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

And Baker's Square closed YEARS ago in SoCal. Missed their pies and baked goods! So imagine my (pleasant) surprise when I found this little place in Palatine! I decided to head there for a brekky on a cool May morning. Stepped in, saw all the breads, pastries, and pies along the front counters- wow. I was greeted warmly and seated instantly. My waitress came right away, and I ordered unleaded (decaf for those in the know). It came in a little pot, ala IHOP, and was really, really GOOD. Wow. Decaf has come a long ways from the Sanka days! I ordered the INN-CREDIBLE V.I.B. which allowed me to order 4 yummy items of my choice - I chose the french toast (yummy and spiced just right albeit w/room temp syrup- not a deal-breaker but notable), a strawberry crepe (totally awesome strawberries, but the crepe was a bit colder than expected); scrambled eggs (always a nice stalwart) and two turkey sausage links (as with the frenchie above, nicely flavored!). The ambience was modern, updated, and felt welcoming and (thankfully) a bit familiar. Brought back some good ol' memories even if only the Baker's Square part of the menu was just pies nowadays. But the Village Inn lives on! And that counts - and I'll return. You should check it out too if you enjoy a good brekky at a classic American diner!

Overall it is cheerful and comfortable but the air conditioning was cranked up a little too much making me want to leave as soon as possible. The service was friendly and attentive although we were seated next to the kitchen so we overheard many of the staff's comments as they were going in and out of the kitchen. One of the waitstaff was clearly counting down the three hours left on his shift. The food was okay. While reviewing the menu you'll like notice the low prices. While that was nice to see you do get what you pay for. For 13 dollars and change I got the VIB breakfast where you pick four items from a few different categories. I chose scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon and half a waffle. The portions were small and most of the food likely only needed to be reheated to be served. We are glad we gave Village Inn a try but will likely opt for a different place next time.
