We went back for a return visit mostly because they open at 6am. With the holidays coming up, we both have a lot of work to get done and very long days. They have a ton of menu options, and this time my husband had the Western omelette, with a $1 upcharge for an English muffin. I had the only vegan option on the menu, the hashbrowns. Great service all around, and they kept the coffee coming for my husband. We have decided, however, that this will be the last visit for the season. This was an old gas station or convenience store (see photos of the restrooms out back, behind the building). The walls are all glass and it is FREEZING inside. We came here on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was busy but not fully packed as there was patio seating available. We sat outside as it was sunny and mild for an October day. We received prompt, friendly service. Their menu options were good. We ordered a couple of iced lattes, Chilaquiles, Volcano Omelet w/ steak and a side of Sweet Potatoes pancakes, and Churro Waffle with ice cream. The food arrived shortly. It looked delicious. The Chilaquiles was the best dish on the table. It was very flavorful. The side of house hot sauce was butt-kicking delicious. My Volcano Omelet was decent. For a three eggs omelet, it looked small but it tasted nice. The Sweet Potatoes pancakes on the other hand were not good. They were crumbling apart as soon as you went to cut a piece. They were dry as well. The Churro Waffle and Ice Cream was an awesome dish. A perfect brunch dessert. If you have a sweet tooth, this dish will do the job. The brunch was delicious. There were four of us, two omelets (one was split), and the Country Style Skillet. Veggie Omelet: My wife and my mother split this omelet. It was served with pancakes and fruit. When they finished, the plates looked almost clean. They were delighted with their meal. Country Style Skillet: my son has the Skillet. It was served with toast. Again, he was very pleased with his meal. California Special Omelette: I ordered this one. With a milk allergy, of course, I told them no cheese. When it arrived, I quickly noticed the chef missed that. I usually might become upset, but they were nice about it. They brought me a new one, which was delicious. Our server was fantastic. So I went to this place for the first time with my parents today and we were pleasantly surprised. Don't let the inside fool you. Out of all the places we have been to for breakfast (Walker Bros, Eggshells, Brunch Cafe, Elly's, Southern Belles, Annie's, Jelly Cafe, Windhill) she says this place has the best Biscuits and Gravy. Biscuit was fluffy and homemade. Gravy had just the amount of pepper, maybe a little more sausage, she said. The Big Burrito was big. Packed full of eggs, potatoes, cheese, and the tomatillo salsa to go with, it was great. My omelet, well, you can't really call it an omelet. I'll call it a scramble folded over itself. It was ok. But their potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It's perfectly like I do my potatoes at home. And I always judge a breakfast place by their pancakes. Their pancakes were light, airy, and just the right amount of sweetness to let the syrup/powdered sugar do its job. The only thing was just don't call it an omelet. Other than the outside bathrooms and the credit card charge I didn't know about until I looked at my receipt this morning, breakfast had pros and cons. These are mine. I was having a great morning and called in to place an order. 2 mins later I realized I had made a mistake and walked in to get it corrected. The nice young girl said it's ok and corrected it. They then gave me the wrong order. I came back to let them know and the same young girl corrected it. Everything was not perfect but I was ok with that. A few mins went by and an old lady named Elsa showed up and told me that she has to throw food out because it's my fault. I explained the situation and for some reason she kept arguing telling me it's not nice to throw food out. She explained they had already made all the food but that was incorrect because we still waited 13 mins in the cafe area... when I told her that she said she didn't see us... it was a very awkward unpleasant situation. The young girl had already fixed it and even the kitchen area was already working to fix it but Elsa's big mouth came out just to argue. I understand if she was having a bad day but it was her responsibility to make it right and she only made it worse. We wasted so much time arguing with her that we decided to get a refund...after a total of almost an hour lost, we came out of that place with nothing to eat and just absolutely upset. We came here on a Sunday morning and we're seated immediately. I had low expectations walking in because of the looks of the place. However I was pleasantly surprised!! It's a small restaurant, but they have plenty of staff to make sure everyone is served quickly. They were kind to all of our substitutions on the meals. Stop by for breakfast since in the area. It had good reviews but to be honest it wasn't that great. The service was good but seems like the owners are the ones that are taking the orders and running around. I ordered El Paso omelette when it arrived to the table it was an over hard omelette and I didn't even eat it. I got the pancakes with it and upgraded to banana froster pancakes and I didn't like them but I ate them because it was way better than hard eggs. My son got a latte and enjoyed it. My other son got a refresher and the water they use has a nasty taste. My son got the tres leches French toast and it was the only good thing here. The green chilaquiles were nasty. To start off the chips they use go soggy right away. They should make their own chips or get a better brand like el milagro totopos. Very disappointing coming here. Also very creepy if you need to use the washroom because you have to get out the restaurant and walk outside to the back of building. read more

A few of my friends live in the Palatine area and after a fun girl's night we decided to hit up Bread & Butter Cafe for brunch. I definitely recommend this place if you've never been to it (the food is good) but I wouldn't say it's my favorite brunch place. Food: Food was good. My omelet was tasty and the fixings were on the table. There was a man walking around with hot coffee which he would sell to each table. My friends enjoyed their food and there are plenty of options (including cottage cheese for a side if you're looking for something healthier). Location: Plenty of parking which was great. There was a brief wait and the tables are super close/cramped together. It's a popular place so make sure get their early/possibly make a reservation. Bathroom: The one thing I found odd about this place was that the bathroom was outside- like literally you have to exit the establishment and walk to the back where there was a bathroom fit for one. It was super clean and well maintained but I've never been to a place where the restrooms were not connected. All in all the food was great, the prices decent.
