Ivan and Michael also greeted me on the other end, utilizing the same qualities to deliver my items as well as arrange them. When I wasn't sure where to put something, they were great at recommending places. And when I wanted to change an item's location, they were amenable to that as well. They were so kind and good-humored, and made heavy lifting look easy. I was very happy that none of my many fragile items arrived broken or damaged. Kudos also to Drago, the rep who answered my initial call, listened carefully to my needs and said he'd assign me the best crew. He also was the only rep, of the many I spoke with, who wrote down my inventory exactly as I described it. And he quoted me a price that was a fraction of competitors' prices. Emily handled my concerns with professionalism, fairness, and real diligence. She could not have been nicer. She listened, took the issues seriously, and worked through them in a way that felt fair and respectful. My original concerns about the move itself remain what they were. But I also recognize that any business of this size can occasionally have a bad crew or a bad experience in the field. What matters is how the company responds when that happens. Here, the response after the move was excellent. Credit is due where credit is due: the post-move customer service, especially from Emily, was outstanding. My biggest issue was with the office representative, Mari. Pricing was not communicated transparently. This was my first time hiring movers and J & G Moving exceeded my expectations! The move went so…read moresmoothly that I highly recommend them. I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it.
