Plus the office we moved to was not really prepared for us to come; they were seeing patients, gave us a hard time about the day of the move, didn't help us much at all and were overall, not very agreeable. Jimmy was amazing. He dealt with all the difficult personalities, was professional and worked around all the obstacles. This guy is the epitome of what you want when you hire a professional. I am hiring him again in June when I move out of my NYC apartment to move down to PA to live with my new husband. I have moved a lot in the last 2 years and had one "ok" experience and one terrible experience with movers that had good reviews. I would never use anyone except Jimmy again. NO comparison. He really cares about the job he does and he is so competitively priced it's mind blowing. The original estimate was actually lower, but because I needed him to help me do so much packing and he had to put in an entire extra day, it went up, but it was still very reasonable. Description of work: We sold our 1900 sq. ft doctor's office and moved to a new office. We were told by our hospital we had to use one of their contractors who was 3 to 4 times the price, far less professional, less organized, didn't offer half the services Jimmy offered and couldn't figure out how to do half the move we needed. Not to mention the other guy's estimate STARTED at $8875.00. Jimmy's crew came the day before organized the stuff for trash and the stuff for the move. The day of the move was totally smooth and he provided multiple services: HIPPA chart disposal for old charts, trash and junk removal, moving services and packing up safely all of our computers and delicate instruments and art work. Nothing was damaged and they were pleasant and great to work with. We refused to use the hospital recommended movers and we paid with our own money instead. SO WORTH IT!!! read more

I don't know who this other reviewer dealt with. Jimmy and his guys handled a very difficult move for my family --- my 84 year old aunt moving out of an apartment that she had lived in for over thirty year on the Upper East Side of Manhattan ....moving everything to Buffalo. They were very understanding, accommodating, and very very careful. First, and foremost, when we hit an unanticipated glitch, they changed the moving date with no complaint. And we're not talking about a date change a month in advance, we're talking two weeks to departure.. Second, the co-op rules on moving in Manhattan could not have been more restrictive, and there were no complaints -- from Jimmy's crew or ... the co-op board. The Crew arrived in Buffalo within one hour of their anticipated time -- quite something for a six hour drive, you have to admit. The move-in could not have gone more smoothly. They arrived on time, moved everything in, assembled what furniture needed to be reassembled, within hours. It was amazing. Bottomline, if you are looking at a difficult move and want to hire a crew that sees what you're up against and is willing to help and work with you, these are the guys. We've used Jimmy's company twice now and have been absolutely satisfied! Both moves were from White Plains to Boston and went off without a hitch. The pickups and deliveries were exactly on time and all our belongings were well cared for. Jimmy (the owner) was immediately responsive to phone calls and emails and called a day ahead of time to confirm everything. He takes a great deal of pride in his business and it shows. The amount of money he charged us was an excellent value for the money. His is a relatively small business and he wasn't available on exactly the date we wanted to move. But, we gladly switched our date to something earlier so that we could accommodate his schedule because there is no one else I wanted to handle this move. I imagine that this can be a difficult business to run because people are very particular about how their possessions are handled and moving is just stressful period! Jimmy is responsive to kindness, respect and flexibility on the part of his customers and gave us just as much kindness, respect and flexibility in return. Got a quote from Jimmy within an hour of submitting the form on his website. The form requires a bit of creativity because it doesn't contemplate moving from storage, but there is a space for additional comments to cover things that the form doesn't cover. As it turned out, his quote was a few hundred dollars more than some of the others, but based on a friend's experience, I knew they would be trustworthy. My trust wasn't misplaced. Jimmy showed up with his crew on time and they even moved a few extra items I was planning to move myself without charging more. I had not had professional movers placing the items in storage, so some of the furniture and other items were loosely packed. The crew was very practical and polite and dealt with the loose ends handily. They worked very well with the storage company and the building staff and performed moving jiujitsu by being both speedy and careful. Jimmy was familiar with the building requirements and put me in touch with his insurance broker to get the insurance certificate they require. Very professional in every way! read more

Found "Jimmy" (owner) on Superpages; submitted email request for appointment and got a prompt call to set up the appointment for the next morning. He was to show up between 8-9am. Next morning rolls around, waiting, waiting, waiting, finally leave for work at 9:15 with no sign of a man or his van, and no phone call indicating he was running late. At 9:30, on the train to work, I get an email from my secretary saying Jimmy was at my house. Too late - I've moved on. So day goes by - then at about 7pm, I get a voicemail from our man Jimmy, who explains he showed up at 9:15 (no explanation as to why he was late) and waited for a while. He says he's "a little aggravated" and hopes he "didn't come down there for nothing." Hey, you know what else is aggravating? When people are late and don't bother telling you why. Talk about great customer relations - how about trying "Sorry I missed you this morning...would really like your business....willing to make a very competitive bid (DISCOUNT)...etc". We'll see if the 1-800-GOT-JUNK guys try harder. read more

I had to move quickly, not much notice and Jimmy Consaga and his team came to the rescue!! Further, I have no car and as far as I could see the nearest place to get boxes and other supplies was on the other side of town - no problem; Jimmy immediately delivered to my home boxes, tape, bubble wrap, paper -- everything I needed the week before so that each night I could try to knock off as much as possible prior to the move; when given a choice of days, he opted for an earlier day and had his crew work several hours the previous day to ensure the moving day itself would go smoothly; that day, David and Mauricio were efficient yet you could tell they loved what they do and were having a good time doing it; by the end of that day, they had everything packed and ready to go so that the my moving day -- a rainy, windy raw day -- went as smoothly as I could possibly imagine; I find these things very stressful but Jimmy and a Man With a Van & More helped me every step of the way. read more

I needed to move one bedroom's worth of furniture from a house to an apartment. Jimmy got me a quote in less than 2 hours and had the date set. Jimmy even called me the night before asking if I wanted the movers to come earlier as they had an opening. The day of the move there were three movers (Davey, Joaquim, and Savino), they were all extremely friendly and professional. They brought wrappings and covers for all of my furniture and had everything loaded up in about 40 minutes. The unpacking and placement of the furniture was seamless and they did not leave until I was sure all of the pieces were where I wanted them to be. We used Man with a Van (James Consaga) to move my daugther, a medical student from one student apartment to another nearby. I had an excellent experience - good communication up front and a clear process on their web site for determining the price. The day of the move was the day that the recent northeaster hit with rain and extremely high winds (40 mph +). The crew wrapped everything in pads and plastic and transported it from building to building on dollies in the midst of a serious weather event. No problems or damage. I've used Jimmy's team on several occasions, most recently for a move from Chappaqua to Larchmont and they've always been excellent. I started with smaller jobs - several pieces of bedroom furniture, for example - and was so pleased that I decided to use them to move my entire house. I have used A Man With A Van for so many things: Moving from one house to another, moving into and out of a nursing home, moving into and out of storage, moving an office, moving stuff inside a house from room to room, rubbish removal and removing an old, rotted shed. In every instance Jimmy's crew showed up on time, did the work efficiently, and left. They always charge a fair and firm price. When they removed the shed, which was dangerously rotted and filled with bees and other insects, they took it apart, carted it to their truck and, before they left, raked and cleared the area of nails and other debris. I required help moving several large and very delicate pieces into a storage facility as well as disposing of a tremendous amount of heavy rubbish. (filing cabinets; old stereo consoles, big tables) They also shredded many bags of documents. They came a few days prior to the move to take a look and give an estimate to which they adhered. James replied to me within minutes, it was a very short notice call but he was able to accommodate me on my requested time. They Showed up on time, friendly and very helpful.
