So I had planned to be packed for my move well in advance, but wound up in the hospital for almost a month! I called IPS from the hospital and they were very accomodating moving the date and changing the type of move. Friends tried to help me pack as much as we could, but I could barely move and we only had a couple of days...so I was not ready by any stretch of the imagination... and it was pure chaos created solely by me. IPS worked their tail feathers off trying to get everything done within the window my new building gave... they worked so damned hard. They packed my life to the point where we ran out of room on the truck! lol. They worked the full day even though only scheduled for half without complaint or fuss - no guilt trips. I'm missing one plate and a Henckel knife...and a box of toiletries which I think may have been mistaken for garbage in the hullabaloo. I can replace the plate which likely broke. I will miss the knife I had for 30 years and always wonder if it fell behind my old stove... I bought more shampoo. If I had been able to pack myself, this wouldn't have happened, so really...it's my fault...and I having moved several times - this is nothing. I really can't express how thankful I am to all the guys that worked so damned hard to pack and move everything in really tough conditions. They were polite, kind, professional, honest, helpful...just wonderful. And miracle - all my Ikea stuff survived the move - that has to be unprecedented! Yes - we went past the estimate, but it was the price it should have been for the hours and men worked when recalculated - fair & honest. All possibilities were explained before - no surprises. My fiancé and I moved with IPS twice and both times were pretty smooth. They're fast, professional, and affordable. You pay by the hour so take into account how many stairs and driving will take when estimating cost, but it worked out to be a pretty good deal for us. Both times the movers where very clear where all the costs were going. Pro tip! I'd recommend disassembling your furniture ahead to save time but they are definitely capable of doing it for you if you prefer. Would recommend if you are moving to or from the Astoria area. I can't say enough good things about this company. They gave me a bid over the phone. I added a few more things at the last minute and their invoice was just slightly higher. Even more incredible is they moved my stuff from the 46th floor during a lockdown pandemic with me not being there. They then transported the furniture across the river to Weehawkin. IPS NYC Movers LLC offered me $50 and told me to sign a release form so that I don't write a negative review. This company has no integrity. 2. I told the IPS estimator and the movers to take my dumbbell weights to the truck. Even though everyone was kind and respectful, they didn't take my dumbbell weights. Instead, they took items that I told them weren't going. Getting the job done is more important than customer service. 3. I was told by the movers that I had too many extra items for them to take over a $300 weight set even though it was listed as part of my inventory. They failed to follow my directions and did what was convenient for them. I lost in the end. The TL;DR: setting up an appointment and getting an competitive quote? Pleasant. Paying double what was quoted and making sure your furniture arrives in one piece, not so pleasant. I think the worst part is that my friend recommended them to me based on their pleasant experience with them and their aggressive pricing. They seemed pretty pleasant on the phone, answering all our questions, preparing some pretty good rates in advance and managing expectations. We got a pretty good quote (about $700, since it was off peak) on a 4-5 hour move (for a couple: no kids). We weren't moving the couch, although they did do us a favor of taking it apart and putting it on the curb for us (for a little extra tip). Let me tell you what I liked before I go into what sucked: the people. The movers were pretty flexible. Also, instead of pretending like they know everything (but, really not), they asked questions. They would ask things like if we preferred to take this one piece of furniture apart for a safer move (rather than risk it breaking while assembled) based on experience. That's cool and I respect that. Being amenable to disposing of the couch and living room chair was super cool. The good kind of ends there. The number one thing that they should've absolutely done is, as soon as the 2 hour mark came and went, called the main office (especially on an off-peak season) and say "Hey, we're running late and we could use another body or two to speed up this move." They didn't. Now, I'm not about tell another company how to do their job - that would be obnoxious - but I would like to know how (sincerely, not facetiously) is how a 4-5 hour move turned into a 9-hour move? You read that correctly. No couch to move, no livingroom chair. Two people with no pets to speak of. double the quoted time.... and we were charged as much, too! They gave us a generous 5% discount for paying cash and a little off the top for taking too long to get to the new place, but still? But, really, the suck doesn't end there. In the interest of time (because now they're doing us favors?), my wife received a call from them saying that they wouldn't assemble the armoire they completely disassembled for transport. What are we going to say no? ...An hour of their time costs barely half that much what we paid for the armoire. Insult to injury? They broke a piece of it in the process of disassembling. I still can't find a shelf for the credenza. The kicker is that it wasn't disassembled like the armoire: the shelves were just removed for transport. Finally, let me say one thing: I'm not like my wife. I'm not saying this is a good or bad thing. I'm the kind of person that lowers my expectations because the world is rarely what it appears on paper and the same goes for moving in New York City. I used to stand for things on principle, but age makes you break even, somewhere between decency and normalization. For me, I expect furniture to arrive differently than the way it worked in the old place. Kind of like every wedding, something's going to go wrong. But with her voice in my head, I decided to write this review for others who might feel just as suckered as she did if they went with this moving company. On a personal level, though, I'm writing this review in the hopes IPS improves. I think every employee is just a good person that just made a litany of bad decisions that led up to me feeling as though I had to write this review, today. I still paid 18% tip because it was a pretty hot day (it would've been a full 20% to thank them for the couch and chair they disposed of, were it not for the fact that I, quite literally, had to run to the bank and pay almost double the originally quoted cost/time in cash... because of the aforemened reasons and to try to save some money we almost didn't have) I'll say one thing: If the pricing wasn't as aggressive, we would've argued more with them and gotten a steeper discount. Luis and his crew moved me from midtown Manhattan to Westport, Connecticut last week. The service was excellent!! Luis came to my apartment to survey my belongings first, then he gave me an estimate. The estimate was spot-on, no hidden up-charges or extra hours, as is often the case with movers. This was our first time hiring a moving company and they The guys were great- really polite and you could tell they showed up to get the job done. They got to the apartment in Queens exactly at 9 am and by 1:30 pm we were moved into our home on Long Island. A part of our sectional sofa didn't end up fitting in the elevator and they didn't even flinch- two of the guys walked it down the narrow staircase. I don't have much experience moving so I researched what I should look for in a mover and mover reviews on Yelp. I then sent out several inquiries to different moving companies on Yelp. IPS NYC Movers had the best reviews and I was hoping to hear from them, and they didn't disappoint! Luis, the owner of IPS, called me to set up an appointment to come over and do an on-site estimate, which I had read was a sign of a good moving company. Luis and his colleague arrived 10 mins early and came up to survey the apartment and provided me with information about the company and the different type of jobs they do. Later that evening, Luis sent over an estimate over email and we accepted. He provided us with everything we needed to make our move the smoothest possible. He worked with us and was accessible either via phone or email. IPS provided us with boxes, tape and some even plastic bins because I wanted to be environmentally friendly. On the day of the move, the team consisting of team leader Ricardo, and his colleagues William, Simeon, Tyson, and Jayson arrived early. Ricardo went over the paper work. The team worked diligently and efficiently. They protected my furniture and took good care of all my belongings. The moving team was friendly, energetic and polite. These guys work really hard so we made sure to provide them with water and a quick lunch (this is heavy, hunger causing work!). After the move, Luis called to confirm that everything had gone according to plan. Our estimate, was originally for 5 hrs but we went over by 2 hrs. I have to admit, I have a lot of stuff some which I didn't get to put in larger boxes. I was also moving from a two bedroom apt in a 5 floor walk up. Despite going over the original estimate, the final price was still less than other quotes I had received. Disappointed. As many can attest to, moving is a stressful process - lots of things to do, lease contract dates to work with, building formalities to meet (building insurance, elevator booking), temporary parking permits to buy ( I moved to Hoboken), amongst many other things. Ideally when one has a checklist to work with and one thing falls apart, it tends to have a domino effect - the movers are the biggest of them all and this is where IPS failed. Starting with trying to lock in a specific time slot - I spoke with Antonio at IPS and booked a time slot for the arrival after what seemed like a chiding given I didn't appreciate they had to arrive well in advance of the elevator booking to disassemble stuff, which in my case was only the bed frame given that everything else was boxes and stuff that can be carried out. Antonio explained to me much like an annoyed pro explaining to a person who knows very little, that they can't give me an exact time of arrival. We settled on a time slot of 12-2, a minor hiccup I suppose (and thinking they will live up to their 5 star rating). On the big day - the driver calls to inform me that the truck broke down and while he is trying to find an alternative he can't promise that the move will happen. To keep a long story short - this was an endless wait with and anxious text messages with the owner (I think) Luis who after many hours and way past the committed timeline informs me that we will need to move the date given they couldn't find an alternate (back up business plan, no?). I finally had to find another mover last minute and shelled out $1000 because IPS messed up. I would find a reliable alternate with a company that has a back up plan and is more professional. Remember my domino effect analogy - I not only paid more to the new movers, I had to make things work with all the other moving parts including park illegally in Hoboken given my temporary parking permit had expired. read more

Wouldn't recommend at all. I chose them based on Yelp reviews, unfortunately they offered a terrible service. I had a long distance move with them. It cost me a fortune not to mention the tips for 5 employees. They ended up SCRATCHING most of my brand new furniture. I probably did the mistake of accepting to pay my full bill on my delivery day ! You can check the pics! I tried to call them and email them so many times regarding that. No one got back to me. When I called again recently, their employee was so rude, i asked him to speak to a manager, his response was : thats not possible, you can email again! They were so nice before the move then turned indifferent after they got their money.. Be careful who you chose for moving, its already exhausting and so costy. Professional people wouldn't allow this to happen in their business. How hard is it to pack furniture well?! And why not take responsibility for mistakes on the job! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL. IPS Movers were amazing during my recent move. Booking was easy. Rich and Luis were great to work with throughout the whole process. This was not the easiest move since COVID19 started to spread the same month. Anticipating a shelter in place order, we needed to change the move date up as early as possible. It was unclear if moving companies would be considered essential, or what would happen if the city shut down. I was only one of many frantic NYC residents attempting make a move happen during a time with a lot of uncertainty. Rich, Luis and team made the last-minute reschedule work, including doing the packing and moving in the same day and coordinating with both buildings. It ended up being more work than planned as it was a long walk from the service entrance to our new apartment. The team handled it in stride. First time using IPS. Setting up the move was pretty standard. All furniture pieces were taken out of apartment without being wrapped in blankets. Finished furniture surfaces were slid across truck bottom. Some pieces, including a large picture frame, were tossed into a wardrobe box with the wardrobe bar to be knocked around. Almost all pieces suffered minor damage. Did not have a wrench set to disassemble bed; I went and bought one for them to use. read more

I'm just like you. Looking for a legitimate mover who will help make this incredibly stressful process much easier. I'm writing this review with Luis and IPS Movers in mind after they flawlessly moved us from Astoria to Long Island last week. From the second I was on the phone with Luis he was courteous, professional and caring, the latter of which is sorely lacking in this business. There are so many horror stories out there and I researched dozens and dozens of potential vendors for our move. They arrived on time, worked diligently from start to finish and took special care of our high priority items, including a king bed and two massive TV's. Upon our return to Long Island, they carried all items up a flight of steps with perfect execution and were kind enough to move a few items my mother requested elsewhere in the house. Also, something I usually don't see in reviews: these guys are strong as hell. They lifted some massive bedroom dressers with ease and placed them exactly where we wanted. They did it all with a smile and really kept me and my wife at ease all day. The best part? They have a storage facility and are currently housing a number of my personal items at a low cost month over month. Do yourself a favor and at the very least call Luis for an estimate. As soon as you get on the phone you'll realize he actually cares about his clients and does fantastic work. I cannot tell you how many people I called before landing on IPS (before July 4th weekend no less, one of the busiest times of the year). This sounds like an ad but it's authentic. After my horrible moving experience coming to New York, I was reasonably hesitant to hire another company again, but Luis assured me that their company was different. And he was right. The crew was friendly and energetic. Great Tetris skills while packing all of my stuff in the truck. Nothing moved when it was opened the next morning. These guys were fantastic, efficient, and smart! Even after a couple road blocks (ex: the couch wouldn't fit in the elevator) these guys were able to find a way around it and complete everything in a very timely manner! Be wary of the positive reviews about IPS NYC Movers. The experience that I had with the company's management was a scam in the disguise of professional paperwork, preying on the emotionally distressed customers, which is not dissimilar to the malpractices of many locksmiths that'd quote a cheaper rate but end up charging a higher one once the job is done. This bad experience is not the fault of the movers but the deceptive business practices of the company to score more money out of individuals, a story that most of us are familiar with banks and their many hidden fees that aren't always properly disclosed. Long story short, I ended up paying nearly $200 more than the original quote and apparently the quote didn't include the insurance for the buildings. Moreover, on the day before the scheduled move, they changed my move to 4.5 hours later, for which I had to agree as it'd be hard to find another mover while trying to finish packing. The stress came out of the fact that they didn't give me a proper quote upfront because a cheaper quote is easier to attract a job than a more realistic one. These individuals are aware that once you've signed all the paperwork and that you, by default, the customer will be forced to commit to a higher rate that they plan to charge you. It's bad ethics and dishonest business conduct. A good and professional business would be upfront and provide realistic expectations. If you are to use this company, make sure to ask them to give you all the line items involved and the hidden fees as well as additional hourly charges to be added to the quote they send you, meaning that you should be aware of the range of expected costs and never go with the lower one they give you because you'll end up being disappointed and cheated. read more

I had a good experience with Louis and his team of movers. I moved in June 2018. Luis was the first to respond to my request for a quote on yelp. I found it unusual for him to want to see how much stuff i had, but realized it was easier than me incorrectly estimating how many boxes or bags i would have. So, in the end, i appreciated this service. He was very quick, professional, and courteous when he came and observed everything in my apartment. And, he was able to give me a quote on the spot. We talked about potential parking issues and concerns and also the possibility of a second pick up. On the day of my move, I had everything very well wrapped and packed and prepared for them. The driver had a difficult time parking the truck, but in the meantime, two of the four men started to very efficiently move everything to the lobby of my building. They opted not to wrap my furniture, which did bother me, but upon inspection, nothing was damaged. Also i watched them from my window, they were not being rough with the uncovered pieces of furniture, so I did not ask them to wrap the remaining pieces of furniture. note: the two men did the majority of the work while the driver of the truck managed the narrow street, on which, cars could not pass the moving truck. I did get at "free" 4th man, but he did not contribute as much as the other two. I did end up asking the team to make a second pick up, but we had issues with the building. The guys were very accommodating and understanding and followed my instructions as requested, albeit on the fly. We also had some parking issues in the new location, but they managed well. They were efficient moving boxes up one flight of stairs, and i appreciated their efficiency of stacking smaller boxes into the large wardrobe boxes. Apparently, this is easier to move than the smaller ones. Overall, i would hire IPS again. I liked Luis approach to managing the business. And I liked the nice and personable movers who prided themselves in being efficient and quick. I understand this is not an easy job but appreciated the pride they took in their work.
