I went here today and finally ordered from this place. Usually I drive right by it, but I heard good things. Tried two items from the menu. I ordered the fried shrimp dinner with fries. Everything was fresh, really delicious, and their lemon pepper seasoning is great! Started with an appetizer of hot wings, no complaints here. Serve with celery and blue cheese. Very reasonably priced. I guess they are famous for their catfish dinner. I will order that next time I'm in town. This place is a must try if you're in the area. read more

food is on point here i've ordered a family size order of chicken wings and fries, a cheeseburger (should've gotten a double), and a super chicken sandwich and all were fantastic wish the super chicken had more chicken but i'm just being picky and greedy service was quick and the girl at the counter was friendly the other girl in charge of the online orders was nice too didn't eat inside but from the looks of it it's cozy definitely will be eating there once it warms up all around a great place read more

Da Catch seems to be a franchise, I've seen them in other cities, but I couldn't find any info on that. There are a few locations in Rockford, IL, which is where I bumped into them. Fried fish is the specialty of the house. They also feature wings, tenders, and Philly cheese steaks, as well as bulk orders on the fish and shrimp, and a few other fried sides choices. I grabbed a catfish "meal" which comes with 3-4 fillets, french fries, and I got a side of fried okra for an additional charge. I'm gonna guess the fish is dusted with lemon pepper, seems to be a thing around these parts. The breading was seasoned corn meal and not overbearing. Fries were good, so was the okra. At under $10, it's a good value. The restaurants are "simple trappings," seems like they are more geared to drive thru/pick up service than dine in, but there are tables. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. I ordered online a large gizzard with crispy fries and a 6 wings dinner. Fries were not crispy. It tasted like they did not put the signature lemon pepper on any of the food. The wings were so tiny, they ought to be ashamed to be selling them in a restaurant. I have had good food there in the past but this was just a huge waste of money. Cheap, quick, easy food. Whenever we have parties or have one to go too, this is one of the spots to order a platter of fried chicken for a decent price. Very good fresh & very flavorful. They also give you sides of hot sauce. Their prices are very reasonable for the portions. Lots of lunch & dinner items & also have specials. If you're not in the mood to cook, or looking for something fulfilling for the family that is cost friendly, this is the place to stop in. They sell the best wings in the area. Not greasy, cooked crisp to perfection, and has well-balanced seasonings. The shrimp is pretty good, but a little greasy. The catfish is straight up nasty. It tastes like gritty mud.. even with their lemon pepper. Omg... the lemon pepper. They put this "lemon pepper" seasoning on everything. I don't even like lemon pepper, but I would think even catfood (not the catfish, though) would be delicious if dusted with this magical powder of the gods. I haven't really eaten much else. The cheese fries are good... but soggy. Still good enough that I order them every time I brave the journey. The "small" is massive. The medium cheese fries was too much for 4 of us...I can't even imagine what a large entails. As another reviewer stated, you might want to carry some self defense. It's in a sketch neighborhood and draws a variety of people. Some look a little...ummm...rough. I have legitimately fought off anxiety in order to get these wings (yeah... they really are that freaking good). I will say that anxiety was unwarranted. Everyone here shares a tenuous bond over the love of this food. I actually had some freaking fabulous conversations with both employees and "diners" (no one really eats here... most people get the food to go). Honestly...I think because it is in such a sketchy neighborhood.... it adds to why I love this place. It has character. Oh... it's also really reasonably priced. Well that's a first. Asked for 2 Chicago dogs with no relish at the Loves Park IL location and she asked if I wanted polish dog instead of hot dog. Said no! Then get the dogs to go and open them up and there's ketchup on it and no celery salt or pickle! read more

The food is good when they feel like making it that way. When I call in to make an order the girl who answered the phone is rude all the time!. I was in the middle of teller her my order and she cut me off to put me on hold, she didn't ask me to hold she told me to hold and I could hear her in the background taking other orders and talking with other employees etc. I was on hold for almost 10min and she never picked up the phone to finish my order. While this is a neighborhood spot the food is often good but the service of the ladies that work at the counter is awful. They are never friendly, never give all the info and up charge everything. Their phone manners stink and they always seem angry. Also if you are going to add a few Mexican dishes to the menu add some amenities ie guacamole or salsa. The nachos are bland not enough cheese and way to much lettuce and onions for nachos. I'm going to try another location. This one while close to home works my patience. read more

Get past the gas station location and get there. Catfish was delicious , nice crispy breading , and great seasoning. When teasing my wife about taking the family to Old Country Buffet for fried chicken, my son clued me in to Da. I had heard of ribs, chicken, catfish places in various parts of town, but not Da. Tonight we tried it out, ordering wing and fish dinners, Italian beef, fries plain and fries w/cheese. Wing dinner was 10 pieces, fries and pop for $8.50....wings had juicy meat with dry, tasty breading, not greasy like other reviews said. Same for the plain fries....flavorful lemon pepper taste without the grease, Fish dinner of catfish and shrimp, same thing. Shrimp was great, catfish not so great. Cheese fries were a delicious mess. Throw in some passable desserts and a nice family feast for $33 was had. 4 stars for goodness and authenticity, 5 stars for the shrimp. The Rockton Ave location felt perfectly safe. read more

I recently discovered Da Catch, which is about 2 minutes away from where I live. It is unusual, to say the least. It's one of these restaurants that's a great example of highly questionable service but good food. On my first trip there, I must have had to repeat my order back to not one but two employees, about a half a dozen times. The order was not all that complicated, just a Super Chicken sandwich with lettuce and cheese. After having repeated the order several times, a second employee appeared who I repeated the order to, who copied the perfectly legible order on the order slip from the first employee on to an identical slip. I was a little baffled as to why this was such an involved process. Da Catch also has a sign up stating that they have a drive-thru but when you pull around the side, there's a big hole in the spot that you would place the order with wires hanging out. They advertise having chicken and fish, but when you walk in they have additional menu items (Mexican food) handwritten on a board below their regular items. I was told that the last business there served Mexican food so they just decided to keep some of it. So, needless to say, the place definitely has some, um, character. That being said, the few times I've eaten there, the food has been very good. I've only had three menu items as of yet, the Super Chicken sandwich, (which is basically like two very large breaded chicken fingers in a sandwich. The sandwich is very generous with the amount of chicken and is one of the better chicken sandwiches I've had) the fish sandwich which is huge and very tasty. I also had a chicken pita, which was very good as well, the chicken was shredded and spiced up nicely, also packed in and making for a filling meal. So if you can look past the way the place is run, it really does have some good food! But you might want to bring some backup...or a knife. read more

I did a search for fish sandwich on Yelp since I had been craving one for lunch. I found Da Catch, with a sub title of seafood. I couldn't find an online menu so I decided to head out there. The menu board did not list a fish sandwich but under burgers they listed several kinds with fish being on the bottom. So I ordered the "fish burger" not knowing what kind of fish it would be....but since I was at a place called Da Catch I figured I couldn't go wrong. The fish came on a kaiser roll bun with grainy corn meal on top. The fish was breaded with a grainy corn meal batter as well. Not much flavor except for the muddy after taste from eating the fish. The food is not good food, no way no how. It tastes just like any other local fast food joint. It reminds me of one those establishments in the ghetto of large cities. Food like this is a dime a dozen. I have gone there twice since, the first time I had catfish steaks, it tasted like the pre-battered fish you buy in a grocer freezer; if you want fresh catfish in Rockford go to chu-a-lucs. The second time I had a burrito, that meat had very flavorful grilled taste to it, but the tortilla was one of the worst I ever had, it actually ruined the burrito (tasted like taco bell tortillas).
