Ordered from this restaurant because it was recommended. Turned out to be too little food for too much money. The portions and content were WAY off what I ordered. A large Egg Foo Young was two patties. Most restaurants do not have small or large, it is just THREE patties with sauce. Not here! Two patties served in a carton is a large. No sauce on the side, either. A pricey order of boneless spareribs came in a small (dumpling-size) container and was on top of a bed of broccoli (not in the description) instead of the meat I paid for. Ordered two specials with fried rice, and tried to have allergens removed. Was told fried rice for specials was made in advance so changes to content for allergies was not possible. Got white rice instead and wonder if customers know fried rice is made in bulk instead of fresh to order. Would not order from here again because the food is overpriced for the amount that they deliver. I've never seen portions so small for common dishes or so much unwanted filler added. For the same money spent at any other restaurant we'd have another serving of Egg Foo Young and four more servings of spareribs. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Luckily my husband was waiting by the window & ran out to ask if it was Da Chen. Driver said yes & told US to get it ourselves. REALLY? I tipped $15. I wish I did not tip on the app. He would have gotten $0 from me. My husband yelled at the driver & made him get our food back from the neighbors. Hot & sour soup: Soup was filled with tofu, bamboo, mushroom, egg, chicken & pork strips. It was good! The vinegar smell did not over power the soup unlike other places I have tried. Four seasons: filled with so much meat! I would say the dish is comparable to a KUNG PAO dish. It was yummy! Twice cooked pork: pork was not dry even though it's cooked twice. Over a year of living in DelCo and we are still on a mission to find some decent Chinese food. We tried Da Chen this past weekend and weren't as let down as we have been with the other joints we've tried. The fried pork dumplings were really good. They weren't too dough-y, or too greasy, and the pork inside tasted great. The sauce that came with them was perfect. The eggrolls were also realllllly good. They were filled with shrimp and other delectable treats. I hate when eggrolls are nothing but fried up veggies, and these did not disappoint. I ended up getting the Kung Pao chicken, which was only OK. There were way, way, way, way, WAY too many peanuts in this dish. Plus, I really didn't need the random celery that was in the dish. I had to pick a lot of shit out before I could eat it. Once I did, though, it tasted fine. Mildly spicy, good chicken. My husband enjoyed his chicken and broccoli and said that the broccoli was lightly steamed and still retained a lot of crunch (he loved that, I would have hated it!). The bill came to $26.00, and for two entrees, two containers of rice, eggrolls, and the dumplings. I think that's pretty darn good for the amount of food we got. I think we'll give this place another chance. Now that I've had my go-to Chinese take-out staples I think I'll try something a little more adventurous. read more

I was a little apprehensive when we walked into this place tonight, as there were no other customers inside. The first thing I noticed was the cute decoration. The place was very clean as well. My Philly tour guide and my two associates decided on Chinese during our ride back from Atlantic City... and it turns out we made a pretty good choice. So about two years ago, I came here for the first time. My first visit, I thought it was wonderful. I raved about the Sesame Chicken. I became a fan. I've had more than enough meals here now. And I've had more than enough meals from other Chinese places locally since then. So now I have some more perspective on how good this place is. As I look at it now, three stars is about right. I've generally had decent meals here. The wonton soup and egg rolls are as good as any. My wife enjoys their Kung Pao Chicken. I like their Orange Chicken which has good orange peel flavor in it but not much spice. But, every now and then they make something that is just OK. I remember ordering the Rainbow Chicken thinking it was going to be a taste feast, and it would up being just half decent. I'll go there again. I consider them better than many of the local take out places. I have to think that a lot of locals are probably inconvenienced by the fact that they don't deliver. The atmosphere is relaxing the tea is soothing there is a lunch special only 6 1/2 dollars for a sizeable entrée Rice and your choice of soup. The hot and sour was spicy hot fresh and delicious. parking is free and the restaurant is located right off of the intersection of Route 420 and route 95 and is convenient both to locals those in Philadelphia and to tourists looking for a place to eat on their way to visit the Liberty Bell. I (sadly) agree with some of the other reviews in that this place USED TO BE the BEST.. But over the last year or so, it's gone down hill. No matter what you say when you order, your orange chicken or general Tso's chicken will be soggy. I have to throw it in the air fryer to make it how it should be. This is my husband's absolute favorite Chinese place, EVER. Neither of us eat meat, but he makes an exception for their Kung Pao Chicken, which is the best he's ever had. I usually get the shrimp lo mein or one of the bean curd dishes, and it's definitely good food. Not authentic Chinese that you'd have in China, probably, but a good value for the money. It pains me to say that I can only base my review on one dish that I used to always get from this place. The sesame shrimp used to be my favorite dish here. The shrimp had a sesame flavored crunch to it. It comes with broccoli and I always opt for the brown rice. I say that the dish used to be my favorite because the last time I ordered it, it was far from great. The shrimp was incredibly soggy and the sesame seeds were almost nonexistent. This was about a month ago. I haven't been there since. If they would've maintained consistency, I would've given them four stars. The prices were very reasonable and affordable for most average working class folks. We ordered and received our food within 15 minutes of being seated, which is a huge plus when you're on lunch break. Da Chen used to be my go-to place for Chinese for years, but it went off several years ago and I haven't found anything better than just passable locally ever since. I decided to give it another try since it had been long enough to changeover much of their staff (I'm talking at least 8 years here). I went for a lunch special plus Chinese pizza to go. I grabbed a menu on my way out hoping to come back. I was more disappointed than before. Chinese pizza (a personal favorite) was under cooked and doughy. The sauce was watered down, no chives or minced ginger. The hot and sour soup was also watery and had some aftertaste to it, like it was fishy. I only had a couple spoonfuls. Pork fried rice was barely passable with overcooked rice and dry pork. I didn't finish that either. At that point, I didn't even have the courage to open the chicken and broccoli and went straight in the trash. To cap it off, I was charged $10 (no bill/ticket), Thinking the prices had to have changed over time I checked the menu after I got home and $4.95 + 2.25 = $7.20 not $10. I feel more than a little cheated and needless to say, it'll be at least another 8 years before I'd even consider going back to Da Chen. Finding GOOD Chinese food in Delco is a real challenge for me. read more
