I've been getting their Green Curry with Fried Tofu (medium spice, mild here is too weak for me, medium is just right) as takeout for over a year now and it's so good. They have good Pad Thai and Thai iced tea as well! The green curry is just my favorite. Great customer service too, which I experienced especially today. I was wrongly charged $115 instead of $17 for my meal and didn't notice, they called me shortly after to fix the mistake. Honest people, which I respect! I initially went w a couple girlfriends for lunch. I got crab Rangoon as an appetizer. They got wonton soup and spring rolls. All of it was delicious. As an entree, I got the Kua dish. It was the only one with wide noodles. Sooooo good. My friends enjoyed their food too. One got crab & shrimp fried rice, the other got the dish w the cellophane noodles and mushrooms. All the dishes had enough to take home for a second meal. It is all made from scratch and to your desired temperature, regarding spice. The actual restaurant is...quaint. it's small and clean. I don't think it would hold more than 30 ppl. The bathroom is a single and the door didn't lock for me. I just peed and prayed. Lol. Service was OK. Considering we were the only ones in the restaurant, the server seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. Food came out quickly tho. The lemon marscapone cake looked delicious, so I got one to go. Since then, I've been too many times. Food is consistently fresh, quick and delicious! Service is always mid. Try the Thai tea and mango rice... oh and the basil rice. I have been loving Viman for years, and with good reason. From my very first meal, no question -- this is the best Thai food I've ever had, and that remains as true today as it was then. I've often told them they deserved to relocate to the city. I'm so glad they didn't listen. I am ADDICTED to the summer rolls, which go great with any of their flavorful soups. The texture of their noodle dishes (always a big deal for me), absolutely perfect. Consistenly excellent every time. The premises itself... well, let's say I don't go there for the atmosphere. And it does sometimes feel like you're competing against the steady, steady flow of takeout orders heading out the door. Which really just shows you that they are in demand. Our party of 4 dined here at 6:45pm on a Friday. We had no trouble parking right out front, but I could see it getting tricky when the business next door is open. Anyway, we had a reservation, though it wasn't busy at the time. The restaurant itself is decent. There is a random vent on the floor that was right underneath our table, but the main guy running the front of the house scolded us to move... (There had been a misunderstanding about where he told us to sit when he had us seat ourselves. Did I mention it wasn't busy?) The guy was all over the place. He came over to take our order, answered a couple quick questions, and then got distracted and wandered off. When we finally ordered, the food came out reasonably quickly -- no complaints on the wait. The food was excellent. Everything came out hot and fresh. We started with the Chive Dumplings and Bikini Shrimp. My main dish was the Drunken Noodle with tofu. Lots of flavor, perfect spice level! Unfortunately we couldn't try their Mango Sticky Rice because there was some problem with the batch of mangoes they got (or something like that). The restaurant did get very busy with two large parties -- at which point we barely saw our server until we were ready for our check. In the meantime, we had all finished our waters. I asked for a refill, but I guess he forgot, and I didn't feel like waiting another 5-10 minutes since we were finishing up. If I could give half stars, I think 3.5 is more accurate due to the mediocre service, but I'm happy to round up given their lack of staff (I only saw two guys running the whole place) and the fact that we all really enjoyed the food. Absolut unprofessionell service. Does not give the you time enough to choose and doesn't answer questions about that food. Seams like that guy don't care if customers eat there or not. I came in for a lunch on Sunday and it wasn't very busy at all. We were promptly served and I ordered the chef special crispy duck basil. It came with done jasmine rice and was slightly on the sweet side, but overall a decent dish. The tables were spacious and comfortable, and the environment was generally quiet. I've only had it once and my boyfriend and I both ordered separate items. I had the panang curry and he had the cashew chicken. He thought the cashew chicken was just okay hence the 4 stars. However, I thoroughly enjoyed and loved my panang curry. I lived in NYC for a few years and had the best panang curry of my life from a small restaurant on the UES which I would order weekly. Since then, I am extremely picky and a bit snobby about my panang curry. Viman Thai is the closest I've had to this panang curry. It is fantastic!! I got the spicy version and omg it was so spicy and sweet. Just the perfect blend of flavors. If you're sensitive to spicy, definitely don't get the spicy version lol. I will definitely be returning.
