This spot used to have amazing, high quality Hawaiian food- giving us respite from chain Hawaiian like Ono or L&L... Fast forward to today, Jul 2025- their food has gone downhill. Rice was dry and hard, kalua pork was undercooked, bbq beef was chewy and dry, and they give the tiniest little servings of haupia and poi. Oh they also forgot to include the lomi salmon in the Hawaiian plate. Mac Salad is flavorless. I didn't mind their pricing when the food was great but we won't be returning due to their decline in food quality. Their poke was fresh and delicious though. And the folks are very nice, shame their food is awful. Quality is now below ono or L&L.

We came in first thing in the morning. Not busy at all. This place was huge, loved the decor as well as the different items available for purchase. I.E snacks, gifts from Hawaii. Was not impressed with the food. Mac salad was flavorless, the pork belly lacked flavor as well. Short ribs were decent.

My one & only go to for my BBQ mix plate! Not only do they sell food, they have iced coffees (in which I had in the last), snacks and merch! Sometimes they hold local little markets in here too and have music performances! I ALWAYS get the Mix Bbq mix plate! The macaroni salad, 2 scoops of rice with beef teriyaki, bbq ribs and teriyaki chicken- all the flavors marry each other! My husband got the katsu plate along with the mac salad and rice. We got fhe spam fries for my kids! The spam fries were my first time trying and the dressing on top delish! My kids can't handle the spice from the Sriracha mayo but to me it was fine! The chopped spam pieces were great! Btw they give military discount, big +! Service is great as always every-time I come here. Very nice & patient. Checking in on us and how the food is.

Great to have a place to get a plate lunch in Temecula and they even had mini size on the menu. The ambiance was better than any Hawaiian chain out here, making you feel a bit of home here in CA. We went at dinner time and it was empty, so hoping this place stays for the long haul, and we just went on an isolated slow night. I got chicken Katsu, with two scoops rice and Mac salad. Everything was ok considering it's a mainland restaurant. Being completely transparent, I felt the Mac salad was a bit bland and a bit harder texture than it should have been. I want this place to do well, so I gave it 5, but if you read this far, maybe they will improve the Mac salad and Katsu breading. Looking forward to going back and trying the Teri Beef!

With a name like Da Coconut Cafe we expect a certain level of quality, and Da Coconut Cafe delivers! When you walk in you are greeted by a large and well decorated dining room, plus Hawaiian goods and snacks for purchase! Our cashier went above and beyond in service, helpfulness, and human kindness. We were offered samples of butter mochi, a new potential menu item. How wonderful! We were also informed of a few ordering ideas for next time ;) The food was delicious. Creamy mac salad, delicious teriyaki chicken, and a spam musubi with the proper proportions of spam, seaweed, rice, and sauce! My vegetarian lady was able to have the vegan jackfruit plate and enjoyed the juicy saucy fruits. Come here for a wonderful time and wonderful memories!

The place is very big and clean, great for family or big groups. Fast service and yummy food. The chicken katsu was crunchy outside and soft inside. The grilled salmon was done nicely, moist and not overcooked. Would come back to try other dishes.

Being married to a local from Wahiawa, it's hard to make dinner that he likes. To cheat, I like to grab his favorite Hawaiian dishes. Must haves include teriyaki beef and short ribs. To Die FOR!!! Not too salty or saucy. Chicken wings were perfectly crispy and sweet. Perfect appetizers along with some spam musubi. Make sure to get it with a drizzle of their sauce and furikake. For desert, we got the malasadas. Another must try! Perfectly crispy edge and soft sweet bread like yumminess! They offer a 10% military discount, too :)

Decided to try breakfast today, we ordered the breakfast combo $12.95 which states on the board that it comes with spam AND Portuguese sausage, the cashier asked us to pick one meat. That was actually the Island combo for $10.95. After reiterating a couple times that the board says BOTH, she insisted we just choose just one. So we were charged for the breakfast combo, but given the island combo instead. The food took over 20 minutes just for rice, eggs and Portuguese sausage when we were the only ones in the whole restaurant. Service was definitely friendlier today, but food was still a let down, especially for the prices.

Met up partway between San Diego and LA to see some relatives. We were all so hungry, and were in search of good food (after being turned away by another spot). It was fate that we found ourselves at Da Coconut Cafe! We were so hungry, and we ordered so much (except the roast pork/lechon because they were out of pork). After placing our order, we sat down, but only after going back to look at all the merch for sale. The food came out pretty quickly. Portions were generous, especially at such reasonable prices. Everything came in plastic clamshell containers with disposable utensils. This way, if you don't finish your food, you can take it with you and eat it later. The interior is clean, spacious, and welcoming. There are even 2 rooms for private events available. The staff provided excellent service with warm and friendly attitude. Restrooms are located at the rear of the restaurant . The women's room has 2 stalls; one regular and one handicap accessible with plenty of room to maneuver for a transfer. If there was any recommendation , see if you can make it so the door doesn't stick or maybe lighten the tension because it was hard for me to open the door while using my walker. We're definitely adding this spot to our rotation for the next time we are in town/passing through and have a craving for ono grindz.

Got the lava bbq chicken, very crispy and tasty. Mac salad and rice was expected, but pleasantly surprised with the lumpia and crab rangoon (or was it a wonton)? Either way, will definitely go again. read more

Good Hawaiian tunes. Super friendly staff. They treat you like family. Felt like I was back on the island. This is not fast food. Takes a bit, just like authentic plate lunch places. so make sure you know that. They just need to add some furikake and I'll give it 6 Stars. read more

SO delicious! I had the Vegan Mini Plate with the teriyaki jack, it was really good. The vegan macaroni was a surprise cause it was amazing. Everyone is super friendly and the food came out hot and quick! My dad has the breakfast with with Kahlua pork and said it was really good too. The pineapple upside down cake is vegan too! I'll be back next time for the impossible burger! read more

Delish!!! I got the mini entree with Kailua Pork, rice, lumpia and macaroni salad!! I also ordered a side of spam musubi, and the malasada with cinnamon and sugar...everything was right on!! Mac salad didn't have any of that sweet stuff in it that some "Hawaiian fare" restaurants have. I ate the lumpia on the way home...I should have ordered more. I will be back and I will be ordering completely different items!! I love trying out everything! read more

There are a lot of poke places popping up everywhere but it is nice to find a place that sticks to the original Hawaiian poke. I also like that you can order just poke. Although they do not have a traditional Hawaiian food menu, it's a great place for poke and Kailua pork. The portion sizes are generous and the customer service is great. Saul was very welcoming. read more

Here's my experience with their food this weekend to go: The spicy poke bowl - it was overwhelming with the amount of onions that was mixed in with the tuna, and I felt it wasn't spicy at all. I took two bites and unfortunately couldn't continue eating it. The shoyu poke bowl - was okay. The quality of the fish wasn't the best I've had, freshness wise. The beef Teri combo wasn't too bad, the egg roll wasn't good. I'm Filipino, and they refer to it as lumpia. It's nothing compared to the real deal. The spam musubi - the rice ratio was too high and spam was cut thinly. The malasadas - they were a good way of satisfying a craving. I'd say these were good, but seemed a tad overfried; if they took it out of the fryer 30sec earlier it would've been perfect. Price point is reasonable and menu is a good selection for the cuisine they have to offer. Location is good, parking is ample in the back not in front. The lady that helped my family was very kind (I believe she was the Owner) and was giving out Hawaii calendars which was a fun little gift. I wish their business much luck in the area and hope the feedback helps them improve as time goes on. read more

The gentleman that took my order was very warm and friendly. Cute little shop with Hawaiian style goods you'd find at a typical gift shop on in Hawaii. I really miss the bold flavors of all the different types of poke I tried when we visited Oahu. I just had their spicy mayo poke bowl with white rice. The fish quality was ok but the flavor of the sauce was on the mild side. The crab salad and seaweed salad were fine. Would really prefer pickled cucumbers instead of the bland fresh cucumber it came with. Overall it was ok. I would definitely return since they are close by. read more

The food is good. I'm pretty picky about my lechon kawali growing up in a Filipino household, and I'd give them the thumbs up. What I'm not happy with is their service. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and understand the last orders and parties coming in towards closing time. I've called in 10 minutes prior to closing on Saturday 9/26 since I was craving the food. The lady on the phone said the staff had already cleaned up the kitchen and won't take orders...bad service. This along with them being closed on Sundays, and their hours of operation listed on apple, google and their own website is all f'd up. Hope they get their act together or they won't last. read more

Today my friends and I visited this place for the first time. We are from South Bay and was just visiting the Pechanga Resort. We were hungry and Yelped this place. We didn't really have high expectation, we just wanted to eat lunch. So we ordered and let the wait was long. Probably waited close to 20 minutes for our food. We weren't upset with the wait but was just wondering what was taking long. Finally (now we are starving) our food came out. We were greeted with apologies for our food taking long. The nice lady told us that they're a bit understaffed. It was no biggie for us. She was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you. My friends and I just hoping that the food was worth waiting for. And you know what? If my friends and I have to wait for 30 minutes to get our food, we'll "THE FOOD IS WORTH WAITING FOR!!" Let me tell you that everything we ordered (Kalbi plates, poke plates, malasadas, and mochies) are freaking good!!! It's definitely a must stop for us when we are in town. read more

Trash Hawaiian food. Where do I start. I was born in Hawaii and still have family in Hawaii. I visit the Islands frequently. This place is a joke. First off the Saimin was luke warm. The wontons have too much ginger. The broth was no better than the broth from top ramen packets. The noodles are not up to par. They reminded me of over cooked spaghetti noodles. Small portions for what you pay for. The Kalua Pork was salty and too Smokey. The Mac salad was terrible, Noodles mixed with mayonnaise and some carrot shavings on top. By the way, no free refills on your fountain drinks that you pay $2 for. If you know what real Hawaiian food is supposed to taste like, you will be as disappointed as we were. Save your money. I had high hopes from this place. Mostly due to the pics and reviews. The woman working was super nice. I ordered the teriyaki mini plate lunch. The kalua pork regular plate lunch. And four malasadas filled with vanilla. The food was super bland and there wasn't a teriyaki flavor to the chicken. I lived on Oahu for 6 years and never had a malasada so I was SUPER excited to finally try one. I took a bite and had to spit it out. It tasted burnt but also spoiled. It was a very unusual flavor. Only reason I'm giving three stars is because of how clean the inside was and also how polite the workers were. I won't be forgoing back though read more

Sooooo delicious!!! Owners are so sweet and the food is da bomb! I have yet to try any lunch plates because I had just stopped in for lumpia. The lumpia was the best I've found in this area. So fresh and delicious. I will definitely be going back real soon for a lunch plate! So happy to see some yummy food coming to Temecula! They were in Temecula today by the mall, so my girlfriend and I tried their shoyu (tasted like a sweet soy sauce to me) and the sweet & spicy poke bowls. The bowls came with of course the poke, seaweed salad, green onions, and your choice of Sriracha mayo or a wasabi based sauce. Overall, the fish tasted fresh to me, and the rice was cooked well. The sauces were both good, only way to improve it would be to add a little more poke but I guess that would be nit picking. They told us that they were going to be opening up a brick n mortar place off of Temecula Parkway across from the Rancho Community Church football field. read more

I had breakfast here for the first time. My boyfriend and I tried the French toast and breakfast combo. The French toast was made with Hawaiian bread. It was good. The breakfast combo came with Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice. My boyfriend never had the Portuguese sausage. He said it was good but he prefers spicy sausage. We would come back and try Hawaiian bbq next time. Based on some reviews, it's worth a try. read more

I truly love this place but I recently bought 2 pounds of their poke (1 pound of House Shoyu Tuna and 1 pound of Spicy Mayo Tuna), went home and measured it and both were 3-5 ounces under 1 pound with the container. In addition, I actually ordered 1 pound of House Shoyu and 0.5 pounds of Spicy Mayo, and the cashier repeated by order back to me, but then charged me and gave me "1 pound"' of each. So in essence I got the wrong order but just went with it because the poke is good. Anyway, not too happy about the underweight of the poke, especially since they sell by weight. read more

Finally some real Hawaiian food in Temecula! I've gotten both the loco moco and Portuguese sausage with egg and rice. Both were really good, and comparable to some of my favorites in San Diego. The gravy on the loco moco was so flavorful and not overly salty. The patty itself also had a nice flavor to it and was really thick compared to other places where it's pretty flat. It comes with a good amount of rice so you're not left over with a bunch of gravy and nothing to eat it with. The rest of my family got kalua pork, teriyaki beef, and masubi. Everyone was really pleased with what they ordered. They also serve Samoan food on the weekends, hopefully it's a permanent thing! I have yet to try it yet, but I'll report back when I do. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) the cafe is pacific islander owned, which makes me love it even more because I love supporting my people's businesses! read more

Me and my family decided to give this place a try on 12/31/18 , and I wish we didn't. I ordered the combination plate and the pork was extremely salty, the chicken was extremely salty. Me and my daughter whose 4yrs old got food poisoning. My husband food was ok but nothing to brag about. We love finding new places to eat and support or local family owned restaurants but sad to say we won't be coming back here again. read more

Food here is amazing. The kalua pork is to die for. It's juicy with little fat that just melts in your mouth. Tastes just as good from the big island. The owners are super nice too. Just got back from Oahu and I didn't get enough island food so I went where I knew I could get my fix, to see my dear friends at Da Coconut Cafe! Best island grindz around and full of aloha spirit! I had the mini lunch plate with Kalua Pork and it was so ono! Perfect portion for lunch too. You get 1 scoop mac salad, 1 scoop rice, Kalua pork and one lumpia. Mahalo guys for the malasada too! Lau lau was half pure fat half salty pork. macaroni salad had no flavor other than just noodles and mayonnaise. super bummed bc the poke bowl i've had here before was decent and the short rib was too. As soon as I walked inside, the host Dakota was super cordial and got me seated at their outdoor patio beneath sun shades, next to the vineyard and I had a perfect unobstructed view of the jazz performer on stage. The fromagé plate had a variety of cheeses, seedless red grapes, dried apricots, fig preserve spread and additionally a plate of bread... perfect for sharing or not. The saxophone player played contemporary music which was all entertaining as I noshed and sipped vino. Their signature Cabernet Sauvignon was quiet lovely; aroma and depth of flavors was perfect with the fromagé ...love!! After the lunch, a stroll around the grounds to see more vineyards, felt the breeze on a hot day was nice. Inside the gift shop there was so much to peruse through, but some of the stuff will definitely get a giggle out of you. There's an art gallery connected to the main building. I wouldn't call it an art gallery but many walls were dedicated to showcasing local artists work depicting the Temecula Valley lifestyle. In the same room is the wine tasting bar and most of the people inside the art gallery seemed to be more interested in wine tasting than the art lol This was my second time visiting, both times, I had a great first impression and last impression from the ambiance, food and service. This place has helped fulfill those cravings. The owner, Cheri is delightful and it is always a pleasure to see her. My guilty pleasure here is the haupia malasadas. If you never have had one you are missing a life pleasure. For lunch I usually order either the teriyaki, chicken katsu, or marinated beef. The Teriyaki is about $7.00. The sides include lumpia, rice and macaroni salad. The restaurant itself is tiny with not too many tables but the food and wonderful people more than make up for it. read more

So I thought its not a bad idea to try it once and that one time visit made me visit it often. So the first time when we were there we enjoyed the mini plates which was quite enough for us. My family is from Maui and it's so hard to find good Hawaiian food in the Temecula, Murrieta area. When I first saw Da Coconut Cafe on Merchant Monday I knew my husband and I had to try it especially since they have my favorite two Hawaiian yumminess. Spam musubi and malasadas my grandmother used to make them on Fat Tuesday but she unfortunately has stopped. The food was super yummy the musubi was amazing and the mini malasada was yummy. I really have no idea how this place has 4.7 stars. I'm originally from HAWAII and the food here is a knock off and not in a good way. Kalua pig is so oily and so salty it's uneatable. The spam musubi has no Teri glaze in it at all, just spam and rice. The katsu has no flavor at all and always looks like it's been cooked in dirty oil. And the katsu sauce is probably the worst I've ever had. I hate to say this but I'd rather eat at L&L then at this place. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Most island flavor chains provide an overly sweetened sauce on a boring bowl of normal food.
