Had the two choice plate: double chicken with 2 scoop Mac and 1 scoop rice. Ordered misubi too Very dissatisfying: - Mac salad: bland, no flavor, Mac had a rubberish texture. Basically cafeteria food. - chicken: honestly probably would have been better going to Waba grill. Lack of flavor. This tiny cup of teriyaki sauce has like a thick and almost gelatinous texture. So wont spread and super concentrated. If this sauce cup was for the misubi, then the chicken is straight up bland, rubbery, and dry. Pretty disappointing experience for spending this much money. Overall I don't think this is the place to get your Hawaiian bbq fix in the area. read more

This was my first time here. This place has a nice laid back islander ambiance. Has great Hawaiian decor. The food is made with quality. I came for the Poke, but they had no fresh fish. The grilled salmon was cooked to perfection. Nice and flaky. The garlic butter is a must add. Now I think the filet is a little too small. My kids loved the bento box. It has a great selection of items in it. A little of everything. The service is good. Your table is not waited on. But they do bring the food to your table. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. This spot used to have amazing, high quality Hawaiian food- giving us respite from chain Hawaiian like Ono or L&L... Fast forward to today, Jul 2025- their food has gone downhill. Rice was dry and hard, kalua pork was undercooked, bbq beef was chewy and dry, and they give the tiniest little servings of haupia and poi. Oh they also forgot to include the lomi salmon in the Hawaiian plate. Mac Salad is flavorless. I didn't mind their pricing when the food was great but we won't be returning due to their decline in food quality. Their poke was fresh and delicious though. Hands down the best Hawaiian food in town! I pick up lunch here a few times a month and the combo plates are enough food for 2 meals. My go to is the chicken katsu or teriyaki chicken. They are both delicious and the best katsu and teriyaki in town! I've also had their moco loco, kalua pork, lumpias, poke bowl, crab salad and they have all been fresh and tasty! My one & only go to for my BBQ mix plate! Not only do they sell food, they have iced coffees (in which I had in the last), snacks and merch! Sometimes they hold local little markets in here too and have music performances! I ALWAYS get the Mix Bbq mix plate! The macaroni salad, 2 scoops of rice with beef teriyaki, bbq ribs and teriyaki chicken- all the flavors marry each other! My husband got the katsu plate along with the mac salad and rice. We got fhe spam fries for my kids! The spam fries were my first time trying and the dressing on top delish! My kids can't handle the spice from the Sriracha mayo but to me it was fine! Great to have a place to get a plate lunch in Temecula and they even had mini size on the menu. The ambiance was better than any Hawaiian chain out here, making you feel a bit of home here in CA. We went at dinner time and it was empty, so hoping this place stays for the long haul, and we just went on an isolated slow night. I got chicken Katsu, with two scoops rice and Mac salad. Everything was ok considering it's a mainland restaurant. Being completely transparent, I felt the Mac salad was a bit bland and a bit harder texture than it should have been. I want this place to do well, so I gave it 5, but if you read this far, maybe they will improve the Mac salad and Katsu breading. Looking forward to going back and trying the Teri Beef! read more

I had to try this place -- Hawaiian food in Temecula? Like... what?! I was curious if this would be another L&L or Aloha Grill situation, but honestly? It's solid. I've been twice now and both times were great. They even have a little grocery section inside that feels like a mini Hawaii supermarket. My sister (who's married to a Samoan man) walked in and said, "This looks like our pantry" -- spot on. It wasn't super packed either time I came, but there were a few tables filled with good vibes -- like a family party. The first time I went, they even had a performer singing live -- literally felt like I was back on the island. There were maybe three tables total and they still went all out. So cute, so homely. I really hope they make it because Temecula needs more of this kind of diversity and authenticity. Definitely rooting for them. read more

When you walk in you are greeted by a large and well decorated dining room, plus Hawaiian goods and snacks for purchase! Our cashier went above and beyond in service, helpfulness, and human kindness. We were offered samples of butter mochi, a new potential menu item. How wonderful! We were also informed of a few ordering ideas for next time ;) The food was delicious. Creamy mac salad, delicious teriyaki chicken, and a spam musubi with the proper proportions of spam, seaweed, rice, and sauce! Not too salty or saucy. Chicken wings were perfectly crispy and sweet. Perfect appetizers along with some spam musubi. Make sure to get it with a drizzle of their sauce and furikake. Nice to have a little slice of home close to me in Temecula. I do have to say that I've been here quite a few times and the food is consistently good, with your favorite local options that you're used to. It kind of feels like a way better L&L which totally works. The servers are always helpful and kind and not much else to say about that. The decor is fun and simple but with the same goodies you're used to if you grew up on one of the islands. I actually used them for a party recently and everyone loved the short ribs, mac salad, rice and katsu chicken. Had to take out one star for the service today. Walked in this morning to see a very miserable looking person at the cashier. We didn't get a greeting and had to wait for her to be ready to take our order. I wonder where the other nice cashier lady went? The food did come out much faster today though. There was no straw given for my drink either. There was only about 3 tables this morning. I think this place rocks on the togo orders... I was thinking about ordering a party tray of the CHICKEN Teriyaki but, so glad I didn't because the chicken was so HARD that I couldn't even poke my fork through it! Decided to try breakfast today, we ordered the breakfast combo $12.95 which states on the board that it comes with spam AND Portuguese sausage, the cashier asked us to pick one meat. That was actually the Island combo for $10.95. After reiterating a couple times that the board says BOTH, she insisted we just choose just one. So we were charged for the breakfast combo, but given the island combo instead. The food took over 20 minutes just for rice, eggs and Portuguese sausage when we were the only ones in the whole restaurant. Met up partway between San Diego and LA to see some relatives. We were all so hungry, and were in search of good food (after being turned away by another spot). It was fate that we found ourselves at Da Coconut Cafe! We were so hungry, and we ordered so much (except the roast pork/lechon because they were out of pork). After placing our order, we sat down, but only after going back to look at all the merch for sale. The food came out pretty quickly. Portions were generous, especially at such reasonable prices. Everything came in plastic clamshell containers with disposable utensils. This way, if you don't finish your food, you can take it with you and eat it later. The interior is clean, spacious, and welcoming. There are even 2 rooms for private events available. The staff provided excellent service with warm and friendly attitude. Restrooms are located at the rear of the restaurant . The women's room has 2 stalls; one regular and one handicap accessible with plenty of room to maneuver for a transfer. If there was any recommendation , see if you can make it so the door doesn't stick or maybe lighten the tension because it was hard for me to open the door while using my walker. We're definitely adding this spot to our rotation for the next time we are in town/passing through and have a craving for ono grindz. read more

This place is still going strong and I'm loving it! My new go to items are the spam breakfast sandwich with tots and loco moko! I'm very impressed with the dynamic menu they offer with their assortment of fries and tots. Portion sizes are excellent I never leave hungry and usually have left overs. I was on vacation nearby and wanted to get Hawaiian food. I got their bbq mix which consists of marinated short ribs, teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki beef with a side of macaroni salad and two scoops of rice. The short ribs were my favorite and they were tender. The teriyaki chicken and beef were soft snd tender. The teriyaki sauce was a bit salty but it went well with the chicken. The macaroni salad was bland and a bit dry for me. The spam musubi ($2.75) was ok, it had no sauce so it was a bit dry. The staff was nice and the wait was not long. read more

We felt like having some plate lunch type eats and this place had high marks for Hawaiian styled eats. I loved the Kalua pork while on the island so I'd take any opportunity to try the local places for that craving. I went for the Kalua pork and she went for the teri chicken. We both enjoyed them. The pork was tasty and of good size. Just that right subtle taste that didn't come off to smoky or sweet. Here teri chicken was spot on, balance of sweetness and savory and tender chicken. She took the half order. After that first bite she said she'd wanted the full order. LOL. Rice cooked right, mac salad good though a bit milder. (Some get to salty or sweet so this was middle ground on them) Wife enjoys poi so seeing the poi mochi she wanted to try those. She had that along with the Kona coffee which was a great combo. Those little fried poi rounds were awesome! We're hooked! Pleasant friendly service, quick food turn-around and a clean dining area. Fair prices and good portions. I remember enjoying the poke fries a while back and wanted to try this place again. I went Saturday late afternoon and ordered the bento box and katsu plate. The noodles were so salty it was inedible. The rice was mushy. The mac salad was flavorless. The only thing good was the spam in the bento box and the chicken katsu in the katsu plate. I really wanted to like this place but the food was not up to par and the restaurant was dirty. Cashier was nice tho. Employees need to spend less time talking and make their rounds around the lobby. read more

I was missing Hawaii and couldn't help but notice this cafe while I was in Temecula. I knew I had to check this place out. Walking into this restaurant immediately gives you authentic Hawaiian vibes. The music, the little gift shop, Lion coffee, and of course the food! They had it all. I came with my family, so we ordered a handful of items. We got gyozas, lumpias, lechon, kalua pork, loco moco, poke, garlic shrimp -- yep, we got it all. I had a chance to sample some of the items, and my favorite was the loco moco, which in all honesty was surprising to me, cause I normally am not a huge loco moco fan. They have a band that plays here on Saturdays as well, which sounds like it would be fun as well as a little private room if you want to host parties. read more

We looked up our go to place back home, whose name we don't want to mention here. That establishment had terrible reviews in Temecula! We did however notice a person's review on there that mentioned trying "Da Coconut Cafe" instead. We had never heard of it beforehand. Tonight was the second time we ate here, and it was on point once again! Trisha assisted my Husband, and she had the Aloha spirit we miss so much... We love their teriyaki beef and chicken katsu. Tried the Portuguese Sausage breakfast with sunny side eggs today, and it was perfect! Ordered half a dozen vanilla filled malasadas to top off the meal!!! First time here. Saw good yelp reviews. Extremely poor quality food. We had the burger and moco loco. Both items were less than adequate.

Ordered the Poke bowl which was good but came in a rectangular to-go container. I only wish one could choose from more sauces and added things like most Poke places. Overall, the Cafe has a nice vibe and feel that makes you feel like you're in Hawaii. read more

Unfortunately, I feel this restaurant is to come to most takeout restaurants where they're just short changing their customers. They start off having good portions even though they're pricing is a bit on the higher side. Prices seem a little high, but you get a TON of food! My boyfriend and I ordered the Kanak Attack as an instead-of-dinner snack. We couldn't come close to finishing it! While it tasted good, I'm glad we chose to dine in. Like other reviews mentioned, food is served in plastic takeaway containers, so any fried food gets mushy fast.
