So, using DoorDash, I ordered; House Special Fried Rice, Grilled Lemon-Pepper Fish and French Fries. House Special Fried Rice: As someone who loves fried rice, and has had it many, many times, I feel that I know what makes great fried rice. Sadly, theirs ranks neat the bottom. Not only have I never seen a combination plate where everything was separated (see picture), that left a slightly unpleasant aftertaste, which lingered about 2 hours. And, resulted me and throwing out the rest of it. :-( Lemon-Pepper Grilled Catfish: This was a redeeming quality, that was very good. However, the tail end was so thin, as to almost be opaque. And, needless to say, it was dried out. French Fries: While cooked evenly (yay), and reheated very nicely, they were on the bland side. Even after adding salt (a rarity for me), they were just barely okay. How it not been for the two different dipping sauces, they too, would have ended up in the trash. I'm not sure if I will try this place again, or not. However, if I do, I'll definitely get the grilled fish. And, maybe, try their wings (after all, with that name, they should be good, right?).

And, since I've driven by Zaxby's many times, I decided to give 'em a try. When I pulled into the parking lot at 4:35, I was surprised to see how crowed the place was. Both inside (at least a dozen people), and the drive-thru (at least 8 cars in line). When I walked inside, there was 1 person just finished giving their order to the cashier, and 1 ahead of me. After I placed my order for a 4 piece Chicken Fingers plate with French fries, coleslaw and a drink to go, at least 6 more people came in. But, the restaurant didn't bother to open another register. As someone who is always willing to try something new, I got the fingers with the Zac Sauce (which they charged extra for :-( ), and I filled my cup with the Peach MinuteMaid drink. Well, I took one sip of the drink, and ugh! Talk about nasty tasting! I just threw the whole thing out. On my way out, there were still quite a few cars in line for the Drive-thru. When I got home, I opened the container, slaw and sauce. Well, the fries were undercooked. And, after just one dip of a Chicken Fingers into the Zax sauce, I decided to stick with ketchup. The Coleslaw was good. But, nowhere near creamy enough. Also, what was supposed to be Texas Toast, was nothing more than slightly thicker bread, that wasn't toasted well at all. I've seen uneven toasting done before. But, never this bad. On one side, there wqsca clear line where the toast was still white. And, on the other side, a brown spot in the middle. :-( The chicken fingers were good, too. But, nothing to write home about. So, for the price, and overall, I have had better elsewhere. And, while I would be willing to try one of their sandwiches, and the salads, I won't bother to order a meal platter here again.

Each experience has been remarkably consistent: terrible service, rude employees, extremely long wait times, and somehow, after all that waiting, the order is still wrong. Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A two doors down can have 20+ cars wrapped around the building and cycle through the line twice before three cars make it through Zaxby's. Honestly, it's almost impressive. There appear to be 20 people working behind the front counter, yet somehow no one can complete an order or, for that matter, a sentence. Basic courtesy and customer service seem to have left the building some time ago. At this point, I'm convinced they're killing the chickens in the back. Then they take a nap. Then they clean them. Then they cook them. Then they empty your wallet (maybe even mug you, who knows?) and send you on your way with disappointment in your belly. My recommendation, if you're on Milledgeville, GA....drive on past the Zaxbys, you'll thank me later!

Tonight, was the first time that I tried this place. Now, to be honest, anytime a place has Wings in their name, I expect great prices (which they are), very good quality and taste. Since my disappointment with the wings from the other place, I wanted to try AJ's. So, using KNG Delivery, I had a 15 piece Mild Hot Wings, with Ranch Dressing. I was surprised to see that both the drumettes and winglettes, were on the small side. But, despite being small, and Mild, they had a good bite to them. And, they tasted pretty good. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of variation in texture of both the drumettes, and the winglettes. Some were slightly dried out. While others were fresher tasting, and more tender. Also, with 15 wings, I was surprised to see that I was given only 1 small container of Ranch Dressing for dipping. Luckily, I had some on hand. Now, as I mentioned, the price was great. But, I think I'll skip the wings on my next order from here.
