Never would i have ever thought I'd find "THE" dress in the hidden gem that is DK Bridal & Tuxedo. I've been to David's Bridal, and a tons of other upscale "top of the line" boutiques, most of which tried to force me into a dress I didn't love or had snobby employees, putting it nicely. Natalie from DK Bridal was super patient and took the time to look at all the pictures i had on my Pinterest lol and most importantly to listen and see my vision. None of these are the actual dress I chose, but suffice to say I tried on a few different dresses and with each one she offered her thoughts, but never in an overbearing or obnoxious manner. She treated me with the same dignity as if she were my family or friend of many years which means the world during this process, so thank you for that. Just as I thought I was settling on a dress, the one of my dreams peaked out from behind others and although it wasn't my size, Natalie helped me try it on with excitement and boom just like that she placed an order for it to come in my size, get the show back on the road and check one more thing off my "To Do List!" Due to religious reasons, my arms needed to be covered and my gown was a sweetheart cut. They patiently allowed me to bring in different bolero options to try on with the dress, until I found the perfect one. Not once did they make me feel like I was a bother, having them retrieve my dress from the basement each time until I paid off my gown in full. Diane was a great consultant and patiently helped me choose the right bolero and crown. To top it off, my husband and I switched our wedding date to an earlier one with my gown already being ordered. Everything worked out with me paying a fair rush fee and receiving the gown well before the wedding. No organization is perfect as the day we scheduled for my pick up, my gown wasn't ready (it wasn't yet steamed). I believe he forgot to write it down but it was ready the next day! This was fine as he did say that I should give myself some time for pick up. My Matron of Honor also got her dress here and we loved it. No complaints. When we first walked in, one of the girls pointed me to the blue dresses and never came back. The next thing I know, she's helping a Spanish family and completely ignored us. Thankfully, another young lady with glasses stepped in and was extremely sweet and helpful. If it wasn't for her, I would've left. I rented the dress that same day and paid $600. The day I came to pick up the dress, the lady behind the counter asked my best friend (who is 36) if she was the one trying on the dress because she "looked too big and old." How disrespectful and unprofessional. Then they gave me a bouquet with missing rhinestones. I didn't make a big deal about it, but I did ask them to note it, and I never once asked for a discount. They were rushing us out of the store and had already zipped the dress before we could fully look at everything. When we asked one of the workers -- the same girl who ignored me the first day -- to unzip the dress so we could compare the tiara and bouquet, she sucked her teeth and said something to her coworker in Spanish. I stayed quiet because I refused to let anyone ruin my daughter's special day. When I returned the dress, they spent forever inspecting the dress, tiara, and bouquet while speaking to each other in Spanish the entire time. Then they claimed there were two holes in the dress and took $40 from my deposit for "alterations" on tulle material that costs almost nothing to fix. I took my remaining $160 and left. I would never recommend this place to African Americans. The environment felt unwelcoming, disrespectful, and discriminatory from beginning to end.

With the rental, it came with the a bouquet, a tiara and the rings for under the dress. You also have the things for 5 days. Going into wedding planning, we thought a "day-of coordinator" meant someone who would step in on the actual wedding day and help things run smoothly. What we experienced with Sydney was something completely different, and so much more meaningful. From the moment we hired her about a month before our wedding, she stepped in with such care, intention, and control over every moving part. It felt like she quietly took the weight of the entire wedding off our shoulders without ever making us feel out of the loop. That last month before the wedding can be overwhelming in a way that's hard to explain unless you've been through it, and Sydney gave us something we didn't even realize we needed so badly, which was peace. Real peace. She created space for us to actually breathe, to be present, and to enjoy being engaged instead of constantly feeling stressed or behind. Her professionalism is on another level. The way she communicates, organizes, anticipates problems before they even exist, and handles every detail with intention is something I'm still in awe of. There was never a moment where I felt unsure or anxious once she was involved. I trusted her completely, and that trust is something every bride hopes for but doesn't always get. On the wedding day itself, I don't even know how to explain what she accomplished. We had 250 guests, no printed schedules or programs, and somehow everything flowed so seamlessly that not a single person was confused about what was happening or where they needed to be. That alone feels impossible, and yet she made it look effortless. Every transition, every moment, every detail was handled so smoothly that my husband and I were genuinely shocked. We kept looking at each other like, "How is one person doing all of this?!" She also went so far beyond what anyone would expect from a coordinator. She stepped in to help both of our moms with their dresses, helped with my dress bustle, ran around tending to our whole bridal party and was just there for anything and everything we needed, even when she absolutely didn't have to be. In those moments, she didn't feel like just a coordinator, she felt like a big sister. Someone who genuinely cared about us and wanted our wedding experience to be perfect. What stood out the most is that she didn't just "do her job." She cared. You can feel when someone is just executing tasks versus when they are fully invested in making your day perfect, and Sydney was completely, wholeheartedly invested. She protected our experience, our time, and our energy in a way that we will never forget. We haven't worked with other coordinators, but I can say this with complete confidence. Sydney is exceptional at what she does. She's the kind of person who sets the standard so high that it's hard to imagine anyone else comparing.
