I'm surprised about the previous review because I had an amazing experience here!…read more Anjees' is a mainstay of the Liberty Ave scene. If you're familiar with the old location, it still exists! But we ended up going right across the street to the new location which boasts a wide variety of outfits across 2 floors. The experience, I'll admit, is hectic. You're constantly bobbing and weaving through other customers, there's one fitting room all the way in the back, and you'll have to approach the staff for help if its bustling on a Saturday. But the staff really is super helpful and imo, kind. I had specific requirements for my outfit for a wedding (due to a dress code) and honestly, Angees' managed to find my chosen outfit in like 2 mins. I did have to get it altered (because I am painfully short), but they managed to give me a good price for my troubles on top of the very reasonable prices they offer on all outfits. They also have a seamstress that works close by and she too, prices are reasonable for alterations. Overall, if you're indo-carribean and need an Indian outfit on the spot, check out Anjees'!

Rep made me purchase two outfits way too big with the impression that it could be altered but no one can alter it due to the material and beading. Anjees does not care as long as they get their money. we purchase a hat for my fiancé, walked out the store and saw it in sunlight and it was discolored and falling apart we went back in the store five minutes after purchase and they refused to give a refund. They are just about making the sale not about the customer. Do Not even look at their overpriced jewelry because you will not be able to return either. The outfits I did purchase are also poor quality even though i spent $700-$800 each.

A couple days ago, I visited a store to try and find some jewelry to match in Indian outfit for a…read morewedding that I have coming up. When we enter the store, we did notice there was a few staff upfront, but unfortunately, nobody had any greetings for us. I said hello to everybody and looked around for just a moment. Right up front to the left of the entrance there is a wall full of bangles and necklaces. I was quickly able to locate something that I did like, but not in my size, so I had to ask one of their staff if they had something similar and a slightly larger size. They were simple blue bangles, and the gentleman that I did talk to was able to find me the exact thing in one size large, which worked out just perfectly fine. I also purchased a necklace set from them, which I felt was a little bit pricey considering this location, and the amount of stores right around the corner that sell the same thing. It was a very hot day and I was in no desire to walk around to look for something just for a few dollars less so I decided to purchase the necklace set right then and there. I quickly paid and left. When you walk into these small shops and you don't feel welcomed or you're not greeted when walking in it kind of sets a tone for the experience that you are about to have. Not being greeted or not being asked if you're looking for something in particular if you need help to locate something it's kinda offsetting especially because we are the people that are keeping your establishment in business, so why not be friendly?! Nevertheless, I found out what I need I paid and I left, and that is all.

Can I give 0 stars? Because this place doesn't even deserve 1 star. Listen to the reviews…read morebelow--this place has had terrible customer service since my sister and I went 10 years ago, and it's still awful today. Do not give them your money; they don't deserve it. The staff here are nasty and inconsiderate. My cousins went this week to purchase a prom dress. After losing their mother recently, this was already a heartbreaking experience for them. She was told she couldn't try on the dresses. Seriously? Stores like Kleinfeld and RK Bridal allow unlimited try-ons, but your store does not? Then, they were told they needed an adult with them. My cousin was with her older sister, who is an adult. The workers ganged up on them, belittling, berating, and being all-around grade-A jerks. My younger cousin, who needed the dress, ended up crying, and they left the store. They even overheard another customer being told she was too fat to try on a dress. How can you justify this behavior? How is this store still in business with such appalling treatment of customers? If you don't want a sale, fine--customers can take their business elsewhere. But how dare you think you can speak and treat people this way? Shame on you, and shame on the owner for allowing this to continue for years. If you're reading this, stay away for your own mental health and go somewhere that truly appreciates your business. This place is not it.

UPDATE / PART 2: I…read moreoriginally left my review explaining what happened with my dress and the alteration. Unfortunately, I feel the need to add an update after reaching out directly to see if the business would take responsibility for the damage. After everything that happened, I contacted them and requested compensation for the dress itself. My reasoning was simple: this was a brand-new dress that was still completely returnable when I brought it in. I was later told by the tailor himself that he already knew the fabric was difficult to work with and that they were not comfortable working with it, yet they proceeded with the alteration anyway. The dress was altered twice, the seams were left visibly bumpy and damaged, and I am now unable to return or realistically resell the dress. Instead of taking responsibility for the damage to the garment, I was told that refunding the $140 alteration fee was a "goodwill gesture." I want to be very clear: I do not consider refunding a service that was performed incorrectly and damaged my clothing to be a goodwill gesture. I paid for a service, the service was unsuccessful, and my dress was damaged in the process. Refunding that service is the appropriate thing to do. What I was asking for was compensation for the actual garment that was damaged, not another refund for the alteration itself. The most frustrating part is that this entire situation could have been avoided if I had simply been told upfront, "We aren't comfortable working with this fabric." I would have respected that answer and taken my brand-new dress elsewhere or returned it. Instead, they knew they were uncomfortable working with the fabric and chose to proceed anyway. I find that incredibly disrespectful as a customer. This wasn't a $20 piece of clothing that I wouldn't care about. It was a $230 Farm Rio dress that I paid $170 for with my hard-earned money. Now, because the dress was altered despite them knowing they weren't confident working with the material, I have lost the option to return it and would have to spend $230 to replace it. I understand mistakes happen. What I have a problem with is knowingly taking on work you aren't confident you can do, damaging someone's property, and then treating the refund of your own failed service as a "goodwill gesture" rather than taking ownership of the damage caused. I reached out privately first because I genuinely wanted to give them the opportunity to make this right. Unfortunately, I don't feel that they have taken accountability for what actually happened. This update is simply to make sure anyone considering bringing an expensive or delicate garment here understands the full situation. If they aren't comfortable working with a particular fabric, I strongly recommend getting that answer BEFORE allowing them to alter your garment.
