We watched people sing happy birthday w a giant slice of strawberry shortcake. Great portions! We ordered the judges plate and added the burnt ends along w a small side of sweet cream corn. The food! Cornbread was on point! Not grainy, overly sweet, or dry! Soft, not bitter. Champion beans are delicious, smoky, seasoned just right. Mac & cheese!!! OMG! It's just right!! Creamy, full flavor, and not bitter. Sweet cream corn, I mean, you should try it, ask for a small sample so you can decide! Burnt ends!!!! You cannot leave this place w/o trying them. We added it for an additional $4 and it was worth it! The brisket had a nice smoke ring, full of flavor. Soft and not dry at all! Juicy. The chicken fell off the bone. Tender. Well seasoned. The pull pork was perhaps my favorite. On its own it was delicious but adding some of the world champion sauce and the spicy sauce together just took it there!! Hands down, glad we made that turn and drove the extra 10m to this place on our way to California.

Pretty solid barbecue! I ordered a 1 meat tray that came with 2 sides (I did broccoli and bbq…read morebeans), a cornbread with whipped butter, and some chips. Lots of seating around! I came in for a late lunch and service was quick. A little too quick though... I was in the middle of my meal and the server brought the check over to me BUT NOW ON TO DISCUSSING THE FOOD! The burnt ends were delicious! The broccoli and the bbq beans didn't quite meet the mark for me though. But the cornbread and that whipped butter tied it all back together for me! The prices on their website online are accurate :) I would come back to try the prime brisket French dip sandwich!

Big Boys (I would choose 3.5 stars, if allowed) is probably in the upper end of this mass of mediocrity. I had been to Big Boys some time ago when I was trying different BBQ ribs. I could swear I wrote a review, but it must have gotten lost somewhere in the changeover from Urbanspoon to Zomato. It's cash-only, but there's a free ATM at the 7-11 next door. As others have said, it's a hole in the wall. The two tables are mainly for waiting, so know that you're ordering takeout. They have a good selection of meats, and the price is reasonable. Strangely, they don't have coleslaw. I ordered ribs and pulled pork, with baked beans and okra. They have some drinks, but grab a Big Red at 7-11 while you're getting cash. The baked beans were OK with a thick, tangy sauce. I'm going to stop ordering okra. So few places fry their own, and I'm tired of the frozen variety. The meats were better, and there were healthy portions. The pulled pork was good, and the ribs were the star of the show. Nice, big, meaty and a tad sweet, they were cooked perfectly. The meat was tender and had a good chew. To just taste the sweet and vinegary house BBQ sauce, I wasn't impressed. But it's darned near perfect for their meat
