Just your average gas station, but one cool thing that they have is not only do they have propane exchange but they also have a refill station to fill your tank at $4 per gallon instead. It is a reasonable price and not all locations in the area refill and only off exchange. It was simple and easy. You just bring your tank in and talk to the attendant and they will refill your tank and give you a slip of how many gallons it took that you take to the cashier to pay. I had my propane tank refilled there. The clerk let me know that the gauge I had was not properly working and suggested that I use the weight of the propane bottle and not the gauges. According to the gauge in my tank was almost empty it only took two pounds of propane. This information was very much appreciated since I usually just exchange my tanks. There is something seriously wrong with their pumps. It just took pump #1 almost 20 minutes to get 17 gallons of gas and then it didn't automatically stop pumping when it was full. The gas started pouring out of the fuel filler. This is not the first time these pumps have been so slow. Nor the same pump. This needs to be addressed and fixed. read more

Always enjoyed stopping at Dad's during my trips to the Reno/Sparks area. Just stopped in last week to find out Phil had passed away. We were so shocked and saddened by this news. Phil was Dad's Quik Mart. The establishment already wasn't the same nor was the customer service that we received. The, who I assume was the owner and new manager were there. The lack of empathy for us as customers and rudeness displayed was astounding. They both seemed very shady on top of it. Really disappointed in the ownership and new management. The place is always fully stocked, they never seem to be out of or even low on any products, the gas prices are good and their is always an open pump. Living just across Sparks Blvd from Dad's, locality might force me to use it. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. The store is a great asset to have so close, twenty-four hours a day. I buy my gas there and stop in when I need to fill an immediate need. Michael and Jimmy are my favorite cashiers, but everyone behind the counter is skilled in customer service. A great stop on the way to Spanish Springs. Always have a drink and a treat and something to keep you happy on your way home. I really like how close they are to our house but not a fan of the $.35 charge they add without telling you to every credit and debt card purchase. I like to support local owned business and I still on occasion get gas and snacks. I would become more of a regular I'd they dropped the charge. They do have a great selection of food and drinks. Ive been going to Dad's for years . today I went in for propane. Once my 7gallon tank was full I asked if the man would help me and put it in my car as I am high risk pregnant and giving birth in a couple days and medically not supposed to lift something that heavy. He said medically he couldn't, no problem is there anyone else who can? To which he replied, legally we can't. Mind you I've never run into this being an issue. I was able to have my 8 year old son help me lift it and got it in the car . Dad's is around the corner from my home. This quik mart is a cut above the rest for many reasons. They do a ton for people in need and for the local community. Today, I stopped to pick up an item and was in a hurry, had the baby, and realized that i left my debit card at home. I had some 1's and came up 17 cents short. Instead of making me run out to my vehicle to collect 17 cents the gentleman told me not to worry about it. Dad's has the gas scene on lockdown in their area. The prices are 10-20 cents higher per gallon than some of the quick stops and warehouse stores but the convenience of the location seems to draw me in from time to time. The pumps are well maintained with the exception of a couple being out of order from time to time. The inside of the store is large and clean. The cashiers have always been friendly. If I have to choose between paying a higher price or running out of gas, 10 times out of 10 I'm gonna choose to break out my wallet and pay up. read more

I came in to this location one morning at around 1145am. I bought a granola bar and a milk. Long story short, I left my phone there at the check out stand. Well, I didn't have enough time to run back and pick it up because I would have been late for work. I decide to pick my phone up later in the day, around 5pm, and I talk to the Manager named Joan. This lady is very shady. She told me to describe the phone, I did, and she stated that the descriptions did not match. She then gave me her business phone and told me to call the phone I was there to pick up. I called my phone numerous times and no luck. She insisted that the phone was not mine. I had to beg this lady to let me see the phone so I could unlock the screen. She hands me the phone, I unlock it, and she says its yours then. Wait, it gets better... When I receive my phone, I check my call log. The business phone that Joan let me use did not show up at all. Hmm... I strongly believe she was trying to screw me out of my own shit. There was an 18 year old-ish kid with her and I think she was going to give it to him. Sure, it's alright to be cautious these days with lost items. But when I leave work, around 5 pm, 15 miles away to pick up a lost phone (that I called and told her I was going to pick up anyways) it is pretty shady. Well, Joan, congratulations on this review. Some good and some bad... 1. Gas prices are high. 2. Store is clean, large, well stocked, good selection, and generally nice. 3. Cashiers can be very pushy and give guilt-trips when they are doing 'fund raisers' for local causes. 4. They seem very community involved, hosting car washes by kids, yard sales, fundraisers, selling local small business items. 5. As other reviewers pointed out also, their credit card surcharge is ILLEGAL, against merchant rules, and overall infuriating! I understand accepting credit cards is expensive, but that's a cost of doing business. NOT ALLOWED to assess a surcharge to customers. read more

Love this store, have been going here for 6 years. Anyways friendly staff, always doing community events, and is not a chain. Sucks. I want to warn as many people as I can! They do NOT have mustard on their condiment bar. She said they had to throw a box of it away, because it wasn't being used fast enough?! THEN, they had gas posted for 2.17, but, in a much smaller sign, you actually pay 2.27 with credit or debit. On top of that, they charged a surcharge for you to use a debit card inside the store!! Since I live literally a stone's throw away from this place, it's my minimart/gas station of choice!! I'm in there at least once a day for something. They treat you like family there, which will always bring people back. The employees know their patrons by name, the location is always spic n' span, they've all the little treats and booze you could ever need and they offer affordable smog services on the weekend! Their gas is top quality Techron product, which is a couple cents more than the competition...but in my opinion, you get what you pay for...and using quality gasoline will prolong the life of your car. I entered the store without a mask. I am highly asmatic and i told them from the moment I walked in that I cannot wear a mask and if they have a alternative protection method like a face shield i would use it and they said no its ok. After picking out my items and was in line I had the manager yell at me saying get the fuck out if I wasn't going to put a mask on. I told him as well if you have an alternative method of protection i would be more than willing to comply and he yelled to the cashier "do not ring him up, I don't give a fuck how long he stands there, do not serve him" (Michael was his name) this is not a law, it is a highly suggested thing that is implemented unless someone has a health condition and i do very much so and was willing to do what they wanted to make them feel comfortable if they could accommodate. Instead he yelled and cussed at me while other workers had their face masks hanging off their ear not covering their face. I called the non emergency police line and they said that they cannot refuse service if you have a health condition but they do not have the resources to send out a unit to rectify the situation and I should record what was taking place and file a report against them because it falls under discrimination against someone with a disability. I dont consider myself to be disabled but I've avoided going into public for 3 months now because I've had an asthma attack from wearing a mask 3 different times because of the restrictions on my breathing from a mask. This is discrimination at its finest. If you are willing to refuse service to someone that has a health condition you need to be able to accommodate the same way you would when you add handicap parking spots and handicap ramps to get into the store read more

Yesterday I went in looking for the white colored airheads a very small item, item they didn't have any on the shelves. I proceeded to the counter, asked josh and drew if by any chance knew if they had any. They informed me that they just received their shipment of products and it could have been in any of the 20-25 crates. i told them that it was fine and proceeded with my shopping and i walk around and finished what i was looking for and to my surprise they had both gone through every single crate within the time frame that i had grabbed my other items which could not have been more that 4 minutes and found them for me. These two gentlemen gave me the best experience that i have had at ANY convenience store and went out of their way for me, my week had been pretty rough and i love those candies so them putting in that extra work just for something so small that they did not know would make a difference made my whole week worth it. Dad's has plenty of gas pumps and they charge the usual high prices of convenience. If you live in this corner of Sparks and are lazy about not keeping your fuel levels decent when you're near lower-priced gas stations . . . what can you do? Pay up at Dad's! Although it's not cheap I'm often glad it's there because paying their prices is cheaper than running out. The store is fairly well-stocked. Another reason Dad's is often a life-saver for me: they have a decent, if not excellent, selection of beers. I am a beer snob and I always know I can at least get something half-way decent like Moose Drool or a 40 of Arrogant Bastard here. Again, not cheap but totally convenient. They frequently have specials on sodas, like 2 Coke products for 2.50. Reasonable for a convenience store. They have slot machines and an interesting clientelle. Occasionally there are "people of Walmart" caliber freaks hanging around, though it's a clean and newish store. The staff are unfailingly friendly. They illegally surcharge purchases using debit cards. Remember, merchants can give discounts for using cash... But they cannot place surcharges on purchases using debit cards (VISA).
