We try to help out the guy at our door to subscribe and paid the cash up front! We got the notice that the last day of delivery unless we pay. So we did not pay because we did not want to get the paper anymore. We never keep track how many issue we have received, but according to them they have sent us extra papers without our authorization and we owe the money for it!!! Now, we stard getting annoying over due payment phone call everyday so I explain that I did not pay to stop the subscribe. They said that I have to show the letter to proof but I did not keep the letter! Who would save the notice of the last delivery date unless you were very doughtful and we should have know that they were so bad! Do not subscribe this paper! Horrible delivery !! After 20 + years of great delivery service, for the last 4 months I can't get my paper delivered by 6am. That's the time all papers are to be delivered. I would be happy if it came at 6:15 - fifteen minutes late. Many calls have been made and for for one week I did receive my paper by 6:20am. I leave for work 6:15-6:20. Weeks and weeks and weeks have gone by with no ON TIME delivery. Do not need old news when I get home hours later. If any of us were late for work like this we would not have a job. I do not enjoy the content of the daily breeze. The stories do not always strike me as newsworthy. Recently for example, a front page above-the-fold headline was a small matter about how a public servant had a water bill that was higher than average even though there's a drought going on. I'll agree we should hold government employees to a higher standard, but was this really front page material? The fact that a bureaucrat has a nice lawn and a few flower beds? When it comes to delivery, my experience has been better than most. No billing issues, and the delivery person has ensured a front-door delivery for us. Thank you very much. Where should I start. They raised their prices without notifying their customers, made the paper smaller(not much left to read), and the paper is not delivered. I've called every day for a week and still don't get my paper. We should all report this to the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Consumer Affairs. I finally thought I would give the Daily Breeze a try - it is my local paper after all - when one of those sweet kids who's trying to earn a scholarship rang my doorbell selling it. For the first month, everything went fine - I received the paper and it seemed at a decent price. Then, I stopped getting the paper and assumed that they had just cancelled my subscription after my first month's trial. You know where this is going though - of course, they hadn't - and when I looked at my credit card statement, I realized that they had somehow charged me for 3 months worth of papers I never got. When I called customer service to have this somehow rectified, I was treated like I was crazy. You would think it wouldn't be that hard to understand that I would either like to have papers delivered or not be charged for them - I don't feel like that's being terribly demanding. read more

This is a business that has stooped to the lowest form of unethical business practices possible. They use students to go door to door selling subscriptions to get points or credits or something that is supposed to help them academically, knowing that most will purchase a months subscription to help them out. The unfortunate catch is that they continue to milk your account as long as they can until you finally notice and when you call wanting the money returned that was never authorized to be released they will only give you a portion of it. I just noticed that my account was being billed since April 2016 and when I contacted my bank to inquire they gave me a phone number. I did not recognize the merchant as they do not take these funds under the name of the Daily Breeze they use the name MNG. This is sneaky, underhanded, misleading and highly unethical business practice and needs to be exposed. If it's not stealing then why are the funds not withdrawn under the name of the Daily Breeze? Because they don't want you to notice they are taking money from your acct. I challenge the CEO of the Daily Breeze to answer these questions and to do the right thing by not refunding part of the money taken from me w/o my consent, but all of it. I'll bet the amt owed to me that this will never happen and shame on you for your deceitful business practices. I realize that printed publications have taken a loss d/t the net, but that does not justify deceiving people and stealing their money and what you are doing here is theft, I don't care how you spin it, it's theft. For content the Daily Breeze is average. It fills the gap in local coverage between the LA Times, which does not cover the South Bay, and the Beach Reporter and Easy Reader, which cover very local issues once a week. For service the Daily Breeze is terrible as almost every other review here testifies. We had a small gap in renewing our paper and instead of being contacted were simply referred to a collection agency. Contacting subscriber services at the Daily Breeze was useless. Overall: Stay away. The modest quality and usefulness of this paper not worth the headache you will eventually run into with their customer service. read more

Have been a subscriber for many years to keep up on local news. I've been irritated with the consistent late delivery for a while now (7:30 and 8 in the morning). This past week, they suddenly stopped delivering my paper. I've called 5 days in a row (to their call center) with promises of action each time, and no follow-up. My paper is never on time. It should be delivered by 7:00. Monday thru Friday it comes after 7:15. I leave for work at 7:20. My paper is thrown at me as I get in my car. FRAUDULENT SCAM!!! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!! I placed an order in August 2012 for 26 weeks of the Sunday edition for their deal of $21.00. After delivering the paper four weeks LATE, they did not even deliver 26 weeks of papers as paid for. They subsequently tried to claim I owed $12.80 for the same subscription they failed to deliver. Are you kidding me???? Realizing the time it would take me to dispute this would take several hours and not worth my time I paid it anyways. They have since been hassling me trying to get my to re-subscribe - same call EVERY WEEK. My husband missed the deals from the coupons we'd receive in the Sunday edition and said let's try one more time. We paid $26.00 for 26 Sunday editions. Seven weeks and no paper later I contact the company for an immediate refund. Not only do they refuse to refund the money - they claim the reason they never sent the paper was that I still owe them money. HUGE SCAM!!!!! DON'T LET THEM DEFRAUD YOU OUT OF YOUR MONEY! While you can create a subscription online you can only cancel a subscription by calling and waiting to talk to a real person. Problem is the waiting and the hard sell you get not to cancel. It is their choice as to how to run their business but they need to realize that if they want repeat business a bad experience in canceling the subscription makes me very unlikely to ever want to start a subscription in the future. Most people tend not to look into the procedure of cancellation when starting a subscription but I am writing this negative review to make new customers aware of this and hopefully Daily Breeze will change how they handle cancellations. read more

I am so angry with the Daily Breeze. They charged $669 on my credit card. When I called, they said it was for auto renewal for 365 days. I told them that I did not authorize auto-renewal. So I cancelled the paper. However, they refused to refund $669. They said I could cancel but they did not give refunds. So I get to pay $669 to not get the Daily Breeze. I notified my credit card company and they said they would take care of it. We'll see what happens. And now the Daily Breeze is charging me an additiional $34.60 for papers I did not receive. When I called the Breeze they said it was for papers that were delivered before I cancelled. How can I owe them money when they still owe me $669?????? I've been on hold for half an hour. An automated voice keeps telling me every 15 seconds that someone will get to me shortly. I think it would be more than sufficient to hear that voice every minute or so... but alas I get to hear it for the 120th time now that someone will get back to me. If they mean to drive the person on the phone absolutely insane with rage they are doing a very good job. Oh! 121st time of "Do not hang up and redail" by the time I'm finished writing my review I will probably be on # 130. Also, it keeps letting me know that I can also manage my account online! That would be absolutely wonderful Daily Breeze but unfortunately there is no way to CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION from the Daily Breeze website. Not even an option as far as I can tell. Not only have I not been getting my paper for the last 3 weeks. I can't even cancel my subscription or yell at you for the incredibly shitty service. If you think you're going to win and have me crack by repeatedly having a voice tell me over and over and over that someone will get back to me while playing this incredibly repetitive song that clearly has no freaking end... well you have another thing coming. They are Really Bad. I am not one to write reviews but I had to forewarn others. I purchased a 30 day trial from a student for a school fundraiser. I thought I was done after 30 days because I Never Received a Paper. We have a lot of smaller fees coming out of our bank account for meals, hulu, netflix, gas stations, so I didn't realize until 9 months later I had been charged $9.50 a month. I just called them for the 4th time after they promised me I would receive a credit 3 times. This time they said they would have to go through a "center check" to see if the paper had been delivered. If it showed delivered then no credit. I'm sure it will show delivered. Do NOT get a subscription from them :(. read more

FRAUD with my money and opened false accounts with my money!!!!!!! I was visiting Burbank and went to the Von's grocery store. There were two young men there from the newspaper wanting me to get a subscription. I told them I lived out of state. He said I could still help by giving $10.00 and I wouldn't lose anything because I would receive a $10.00 gift card. He took a carbon copy of my c.c. (Which I questioned). He said nothing would come off of my card until I heard from a manager the next day and gave them permission. I never heard from anyone or received product but they have taken my money twice. Turns out the nice young man fraudulently opened an account for someone else using my c.c.. Completely different name, address and phone number. The customer service people are awful and keep saying , "well when you ordered the paper....." To which I responded many times over that I did not order the paper. I had to call back three times because I was mysteriously was hung up on. The reps did not want to let me speak to a manager. I had to get firm and insist. I don't know if she knew the young man or what. The manager Lisa was a gem. Time will tell whether she really does anything about this. In the meantime I am reporting it everywhere I can. read more

I remember as a kid, biking by their old office on Torrance Blvd. I believed that paper was a respected institution. An unbiased publication that represented diverse local opinions, with staff writers of the utmost integrity, and an invested interest in our community. WRONG! As I said, i was just a kid, then. No, The Daily Breeze now (in their much-downsized new location) merely serves as a self-congratulatory rag for the revolving City Officials in the South Bay area (of which Torrance is a part). Numerous times over the years, I've read articles about policy changes and improvements which simply did NOT happen. Numerous times I've written and have never seen them respond in any way. I, like many Torrance residents, have current concerns which are simply not ever addressed in the Breeze. They continue to promote a totally false "Mayberry RFD/Charming Small Town" view of Torrance, with poorly-written filler pieces. After some research, it turns out The Daily Breeze, as with most newspapers left, is owned by NWO/Rockefeller cronies with their New World Order agenda. You'll read only what they want you to read, and folks, that isn't the whole picture. I really have bigger fish to fry than the Breeze , but when I called to ask a simple question to a man named "Frank" at their news desk today, & was greeted with such rudeness and hostility - i decided it was time for a Yelp review. Even on the phone they're simply nasty to local residents?! To hell with that! My family cancelled their subscription long ago, which I recommend doing. Don't subscribe to this newspaper. Some young kid appeared at my door and guilted me into subscribing. That was in March. To this day (July) I haven't received a single newspaper. At first I chalked it up to a delay in getting the service established. Then I just forgot about it. Suddenly I am getting a renewal notice! Now that I had a phone number I called the "newspaper" and they told me that the would try to ensure I got my paper from now on, but they wouldn't credit me for the lost months. Now that's a classic "penny wise pound foolish" business practice. I told them not to bother to send my any issues in the future. As we all know, it's not just a good product that makes a loyal customer; it's also the customer SERVICE. In this case, no delivery and no effort to make up for their mistake = no service! Their attitude: "You should have called earlier." Mine: "You should care about building your readership." They wouldn't have lost one penny to start my subscription from now, since they never delivered in the past. But through their discourtesy and shortsighted decision, they've lost a customer and the many others to whom I might have recommended their publication. read more

I enjoy reading a newspaper with my morning coffee, and want to support print journalism, so I subscribed to the Sunday edition of the Breeze. (Plus, I wanted the NY Times crossword.) Their delivery is unreliable; I think I've received my paper less than 50% of the time. Customer service is horrible; their "automated system" to deal with missed papers is completely ineffective, and usually suggests I need to "speak with a representative," so I should "call tomorrow---"they apparently have no humans in their building on the weekends. I WILL call tomorrow, to cancel this pitiful excuse for a newspaper. I expect, from other reviews, that the Breeze will try to continue billing my credit card after I've canceled, so will be on the lookout for that. I fully expect that this miserable rag will be out of business in a year or less, and good riddance! If I could have awarded the Breeze zero stars, I would have. The quality and content of the Daily Breeze has gone down in the last couple of years, so I cancelled my subscription. They failed to accept my written cancellation and kept sending me papers. Then they sent me a new past due bill, I called saying I cancelled the subscription with a written notice, and they said you can only cancel with a phone call. In a industry that is dying and giving way to digital, and poor ratings on Yelp, not a good way to manage the customer experience by bleeding out the last couple of months because you won't accept a written cancellation. The CSR on the phone was very professional, but the policy established by management stinks. read more

Rapid and unannounced price increases. I currently have only the e-edition with Sunday delivery. Since November 2015, there have been two price increases from $12/month to $15/month. In May 2016, the price was increased from $15/month to $27/month. They do not send receipts or bills for the newspaper if you sign up for EzPay. Service in the last year is awful!!! From multiple missed deliveries to double talk from phone customer service. Promises promises of adjustments for non delivery, promises of extended billing yet still takes out from our bank account every month same time with charges all over the board, never consistent. I call and get some ridiculous story. I get the name and extension of the person that promises to fix my account - Nothing!! This particular problem that prompted me to write started in February. I asked for a manager to phone back in March - another promise and I am still waiting to hear. Now that I am reading such bad reviews, makes sense. Why don't you care any more DB? I have been a subscriber to Daily Breeze since 1987. Last Friday, I did not receive my morning paper, so that I called their computerized system to register my complaint hoping that everything would be fine from the next day. Last Saturday, Sunday and Monday I did not get the newspaper again, for which I complained each day. Actually, yesterday or Monday, I talked to a representative about the missed deliveries. She sounded like they had a new carrier in my area. She assured me that the manager and the carrier would get the message and the problem would not occur again. As I suspected, I did not get the paper again today or 5 days in a row!!!!!! I do not know what kind of business they run. Enough is enough and my patience has finally run out. In short, have subscribed for several years but now I'm ready to cancel. Daily Breeze can't seem to deliver my paper (particularly Sunday) on time, if at all. Since 9/1/12, I have received only 2 Sunday papers. I have been in touch with CS by phone every time one is missed and by email and even reached the supervisor of circulation who seemed to be concerned, and assured me that I would receive credit for the missing Sunday papers. Well, today I received my new bill and no credit has been issued. I have had enough of their excuses and failure to deliver. The delivery people are getting a break ... the paper weighs less and less each day. I believe the advertisers are getting the picture ... poor "print" means decreased circulation, less advertising means consumers bear the brunt of the papers cost ie. $0.75 daily and $1.25 Sat / Sun ... are you kidding me.
