What a truly special spot this place will have in my heart. My grandma and grandpa grew up in the area and would come here on dates, now here we are and my family still comes here (their children and now us the grand kids) My grandpa has passed and to honor him my family orders the cheeseburgers here (10/10), I recently visited and the man in front of me said I HAD to try their fish tacos, let me tell you they did not disappoint!! They are quite large and it definitely filled me up! Thank you Dairy King for being awesome!!

Right on 181 at Industrial road in Taft Texas is an old school burger joint from a glorious time in our past. Delicious comfort food and delectable treats made by a family that appreciates quality and value. This establishment recalls a time in our past which gave birth to the original Whataburger (when it was really good) and ambitious car hops on roller skates , diners that filled you with satisfying food. Dairy King delivers fish sandwiches that rival anything you may have experienced. They don't deliver on skates but the filet is large and cooked perfectly in a lightly seasoned thin batter with just the perfect crunch, lovingly moist and delicious. I had a founder sandwich with crinkled fries .. satisfyingly delicious and filling. Look at how large the fillet was on my sandwich! Check the menu, they serve Blue Bell shakes!!

This place is underrated. The burgers are juicy and fresh, packed with flavor. Frito pie was perfect. Corn dog perfect. Tots are crisp. Huge menu. I've heard everything was good. It don't look like much but you won't be disappointed. Take out only, best burger shack in the area hands down

You can get pretty much any kind of fish tacos here at Dairy King.

My youngest sister told me about this restaurant years ago. Today, as I was doing my GrubHub shift, I got a delivery in Taft. After I made my delivery, I stopped at the Dairy King on the corner of Industrial and Highway 181. I remember my sister told me the fish tacos were excellent. I ordered two flounder tacos, fried pickles and an order of Tater Kegs. Tater Kegs are, essentially, an oversized tater tot that is filled with cheese and bacon and seasonings. It is lightly dusted and deep fried. The end result is a light crispy outer layer with a rich creamy bacony center. You get 4 per order and they only have them for a limited time. We've all had fried pickles, some good, some meh and some bad. To me, a bad fried pickle is one that is overseasoned and has more batter than pickle. Dairy King makes their fried pickles out of thick, crunchy pickle slices and their batter is light with just the slightest seasoning. And now...the Flounder Tacos! Usually when I order fish tacos, I get a small tortilla, slightly bigger than the palm of my hand. It'll have a few chuncks of fish in it and some kind of foofy slaw on it. Especially, if I am ordering from some Austinized restaurant. I try to avoid those. Dairy King, on the other hand, gives you a flour tortilla with a whole filet! I ordered TWO thinking I was going to get some whimpy little scrap of a tortilla and some flakes of fish in a lot of foofy slaw! Size counts here but taste is ultimately what matters. The flounder had a clean taste to it, the breading was light and they didn't go crazy with the seasonings. You could still appreciate the flavor of the fish. There is some slaw on their fish taco but its not over done. The slaw is a cool and crisp bonus. The only thing I would do different is order the tortilla a little Charlie Brown. That's it though. Dairy King has a great product.

DK is a little roadside drive-up burger stand featuring burgers and shakes, plus a bevy of tasty treats (hush puppies, fried zucchini, corn nuggets, snow cones, fried pickle chips, chef's salad, nachos, tacos, BBQ sandwiches, seafood and more.) Note: It's CASH ONLY, so don't roll up to DK expecting to use your big city debit card! Not a lot of parking is available and 2 picnic benches make up the outside dining experience. Eat in your car or take it on with you. Service was efficient & friendly. I had a cheeseburger, small chocolate shake and sampled the hush puppies and jalapeño poppers. Burgers are of generous size and tasty, made to order. My shake was very creamy & just chocolately enough. Overall, a great roadside burger experience at a great price.

I've traveled all over the world and up and down the U.S. coastline, and I understand beach‑town dining can be hit or miss. But this experience left us genuinely confused about the glowing reviews. We walked into a tiny establishment where the bar was fully staffed and drinks were flowing, yet we couldn't even get served food. Alcohol seemed ready to go, but the kitchen was moving at a pace that made no sense. We were told food would take over an hour. For a place this small, that's baffling. It made me wonder if the rave reviews were written through "vacation goggles" -- sunburned, tired, or a few drinks in -- because from our sober perspective, nothing about the service or setup matched the hype. Maybe the "excellent" part of the name refers strictly to the bar, because the grill definitely felt off‑duty. We ended up leaving without ever getting food. Not the experience we were hoping for.

This is one of those places where you walk in, stand in line, place your order and go find a seat. When your order is ready, they'll bring it out to your table. Staff is very friendly and the evening we went, there were three or four young men that were taking food to the tables and clearing tables and they were all very friendly and helpful. We went on a Saturday night, and there was a good flow of people in and out the entire time we were there. We didn't have a hard time finding a table initially, but the place filled up quickly. But there are five or six other restaurants within a block to two blocks around this place, so there was a lot of foot traffic and a lot of people eating out in that area. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and I have to tell you that is one of the most amazing burgers I have had in the last few years. Amazing! The burger was cooked perfectly and had several strips of crispy bacon, melty cheese, lettuce, pickle, tomato, and red onion, and the meat was seasoned perfectly. I got the fries, and they were crispy seasoned well and extremely tasty. I told my wife as we were sitting there eating that this place was definitely on our list of eating establishments the next time we were in Port A, and you can bet we will be down there for another burger.

The folks working there were super friendly, and I really appreciated the hospitality. The dining area was also very clean. Now for the burger and fries: OMG, what a surprise! The burger was seriously so good. Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. I visited close to closing time, so I was the only one there, but the place seems like it could be a really fun spot to hang out, especially with the outdoor patio seating. One small idea, if they haven't already considered it: it looks like there might be enough space for another food truck or two. An ice cream truck would be especially fun for families and could make the space even more interesting.
