This location is absolutely insane. I swear it is a front to something else it is so bad. There are only two tables inside. It takes about 15-20 minutes for a basic ice cream order. Staff has zero personality. We tried ordering a special and got the response "we ain't got that". I wish I was making this up. We have given this location many tries due to its location to our house but no more. We ordered two hot fudge sundaes and got a layer of chocolate syrup on the bottom of the cup and then ice cream. The worst service there is!! no matter if they have a line outside in the drive-through or completely empty restaurant you will be ignored by the teenagers that work there. I waited in the drive-through until no one was left and they still never took my order. Went inside completely empty restaurant with two people working there from what I can see. One female teenager was working. The drive-through one was in the kitchen. The one in the kitchen looked up at me and put her head back down and went back to doing whatever she was doing on her phone. The one in the drive-through acknowledge me, but didn't say anything. Yes I went to this community Dairy Queen 03/31/2025 about 5:15was in line for at least 15 of those minutes, order a 4 piece steak finger country basket no combo, the sign showed $8.99 for just fingers/fries but when I get to the window waited 5 minutes more for someone to come and take the money price was $9.26 plus tax $10.03??, then after the young man took my money then left about 5 minutes later he gave me a receipt then he left again from the window I didn't see him again,after that a different person brought me my food then when I ask to speak to a mananger/Supervisor I was told that there was no manager there I asked for a leader a person was called by the name she gave as Marie I explaine about the difference in the prices she explain she didn't have time to change it, the computer automatically changes it, So I said change without telling any of the employee of the change? Marie began to over talk me and stated why she/they hadn't change the prices, She was rude and not professional at all she even told me she wasn't a lead she was just an employee just like the others. So I asked for a owner's name phn# emergercy phn# she didn't know of one. So I said so if a fire started or someone got hurt what would you do other than call the fire dept (no reply closed the window and left).I did tell her she was lying. The food is awful. The chicken and dumplings had the consistency of water. The advertise prices are not the prices that you're charged. When asking about it, they said that they just haven't changed the price board yet after you go there and they don't have the food that you order. It's worth the drive to go to Ovilla. read more

A mediocre experience. Located right off Hampton across the street from a nearby McDonald's, I was hankering to try DQ as it's been more than 5 years. Im pretty convinced I should've left it at that. Drive through is not setup for bigger cars while going through the curve. I chose the belt buster combo. My Drink, Hi-C fruit punch, was watered down. Appears they may be short staffed as I had to pull around to wait for my order. The fries, below average and stale. The burger itself was tasty but I have had better . DO NOT GET ANYTHING EDIBLE FROM HERE!!! It's 2 am and I almost had to call the EMTs because I suddenly had the urge to go poop. On a normal basis, Dairy Queen would not even be on my list of places to eat because I cook 4-5 times per week or we eat at places like chipotle, chicken express or Pizza Hut because we have such limited options in the neighborhood. I had passed by about 7 restaurants from Lancaster to Desoto and they all had lines out to the streets. Because it was so late and I didn't want to wait I decided to go ahead and make my way home. When I get to Hampton and Dalton, I noticed DQ doesn't have one soul in line. What an idiot of me to think that meant that no one wanted Diary Queen on a Friday night. I ordered the steak finger meal for my husband and myself. Initially, I'd only eaten one steak finger and a piece of bread because something felt off about the cook on the meat. I went back later and ate another steak finger because I was hungry from not eating earlier. My husband advised that his stomach hurt and I gave him pepto. At 130 am, I was woken up by my stomach being in knots. I went to the restroom and as soon I sat down I started sweating to the point that the floor was wet and my bonnet was dripping wet. I couldn't excuse the food from my body right off, I got dizzy and thought I was going to pass out. I grabbed the trash can hoping to vomit the food out, nothing. I sit there another 10 minutes with agonizing belly pain and I didn't want to alarm my household so I try to suffer in silence. I'd raced to the restroom so fast that I left my phone on the nightstand so I couldn't call my husband or 911. I've NEVER experienced something so terrifying in my life!!! Now I see why they didn't have any business. If I didn't know any better I'd think they actually poisoned our food. That's how bad my experience was. Some people may read this and think I'm being dramatic but I'm not. I don't have food allergies or a sensitive stomach, they are either not cooking the food all the way if they are putting poison in it. Aside from my feeling near death experience, the service wasn't great at all. There was an older hispanic woman and two young Hispanic teens working there this night 4/7/2023 and you could tell they were in training from how the transactions were going and how the lady was hovering over them. I try not to come to Dairy Queen because of the temptation of there Blizzards and yummy food. While the customer service is okay I do enjoy the treat of getting my Blizzard every now and then. This location is a lot cheaper than the lication that is not to far from Herr (CedarHill). Not sure if this has something to do with mangnement or not. But this is why I come to this location. This place serves old food that has been sitting under a heated light! I'm so pissed! I just purchased here 20 minutes ago and my fries were cold and hard! The burger meat was absolutely horrible, the veggies we're wilted and it was as if my burger had been sitting for hours! There was no manger there and the "kids" that were there were playing and moving slow! We had to pull in front of the store after ordering at the drive through and still had to wait almost 20 minutes, all to get home and the food just be down right nasty! I really want my money back ! I have been going to this location since I was a teen. I was so upset from my last two visits. The first time I made my order they sent me to around to the front. I waited twenty minutes and finally went in. They had lost my order and asked me what I wanted again. I figured they were just really busy and asked for my money back. Just a few hours ago I went again. I made my order and they said that the orange Julius machine was down. I asked for a slushee and they said they no longer had them, even though there was a picture on the menu board. So then I asked for a turtle fudge blizzard, they then replied that they were out of pecans. I was going to order the five dollar box as advertised on television but they said that they were not a corporate store and would not be honoring the deal. Again they asked me to pull around. I reminded them of my last visit and they still had me pull around. Later they brought my order out and they left out the fries. I know that I had ordered them because I was reading off of a list. To get the fries they made me make another charge on my card. I don't know what is going on with them but I'm sad to say they must be under new management. I have gone to the DeSoto Dairy Queen for probably about 10 years or so and I've always mostly gotten the tacos or the deluxe nachos. But today was a bad experience I noticed that the employees had changed so what I received today were burnt chips I got no ground meat only chips chili and very thin cheese it comes with tomatoes and onions I got Tomatoes but I got ends of tomatoes I tried calling their number several times to speak to the manager to see if they made decisions on changing the recipes or changing what toppings they're using or getting some type of information. But the phone went unanswered. They have gone up on the price as well but they are using less and again the chips were burnt less cheese and no meat only chili. They didn't have a lot of things that I have gotten from other locations like the banana cream pie blizzard and they were out of strawberry topping which was very disappointing. The staff was not that friendly and I am really not sure if she touched my cone with clean bare hands as she handed it to me with not paper cover and no napkins hmmmmmm. I ended up getting a plain vanilla cone which tasted like frozen vanilla ice, not the creamy vanilla swirl that I am use to. The building leaves something to be desired but I think it is right in line with the surrounding businesses.
