For parking, there are spots right in front, but the distance from the street to the spots makings getting out....interesting. Instead, go to the right, circle around the building, and park on the left side of building (diagonal parking) so it's less fun to get out. Subs so fast you freak - I was the 4th order in, and had a total wait time of around 4 minutes.

I had a cheeseburger and fries, my wife had their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Let's tackle the Philly first. She ate it, but it was over-cheesed, and the green peppers looked like carrots. My cheeseburger was fresh off the grill. If you look at the picture it was wrapped with the outside of the wrapper instead of the inside - not a big deal, but odd. The fries were fresh, and if you are sodium restricted, didn't seem to have any salt on them. Salt, napkins, ketchup and what not are directly in front of the order counter. So the food was okay, not great. Service was solid. The decorations were impressive. Oh, and the Root Beer - this is an old Dog n'Suds, and the Root Beer was epically good.

My husband got home with our food we unpacked it and for the third time we had no coleslaw. So he grabbed the receipt and went back. I noticed that we didn't got our bread either. So I called ahead to let them know of the missing items. The young person that answered the phone first told me that bread is no longer included as part of the order. They no longer carry bread, they have biscuits and if you want those they are one of your sides or xtra money. ( go online and update your menu!) then she added that it was policy that if he didn't arrive at country school with the bag of food purchased with him, that they would not give us the coleslaw. I was flabbergasted. Two other times we went in with the receipt no food and were given the slaw. Not Today! She went on to tell me that for the inconvenience for having to come back for the coleslaw it was their policy to remake the entire order. I am sorry this does not make any sense to me. You will remake me a whole new $44 order to replace my $2 pint of coleslaw that you charged me $5.29? During my call I went back to the website to re-check the rolls, and if it said anything's it said anything about bringing back the entire order to prove missing items. I did call back to talk to the manager. Waste of time. I will call and talk to the owners son tomorrow and up-date after the call. It may make or break if we ever go back to to country school again. Very old school. Cons: - Speaking of old school, NO credit or debit card use as of the date of this review. They post a sign for this right on the door. It isn't an issue for me personally, but it can be for potential diners in 2024. - The corned beef hash was a miss for me, but I don't know if it was the establishment or if I'm the problem. I've just been used to eating Hormel corned beef hash a specific way for 30 years, and maybe it wasn't what I expected. Regardless, while worth mentioning this does not factor in my review. Bottom Line: This would easily be a frequent stop if I was a local. Small diners like this are a dime a dozen in the United States. They all have very similar menus and ambience, but it is a question of execution that separates them. Typically the credit card thing would bump down to a 4, but I have a lot of respect for this place and atmosphere, so I side with the locals and go with the 5 stars.

I always prefer the Work of Art sandwich. To me the bun, meat, shaved lettuce, and the horseradish mayo or mustard (not sure which) make the perfect sandwich.
