The excuse is always, it's so difficult to hire quality staff at first time job wages, but even more questionable is to leave your business in the hands of children whose sole goal is to not be there. Excuses for a lousy operation rest with the owner. My party of nine couldn't stay because we couldn't be served, we couldn't sit because the lobby was being closed (chairs on top of tables) at 8p when doors don't close till 9p. I have been to this Dairy Queen several times over the past few years. I have a soft spot for this chain for a couple of reasons: I love the vanilla soft serve, and my sister owns a couple of DQs back in my home state. I have never had any problems with this Dairy Queen. I haven't had meals here, just desserts, and though the service hasn't knocked my socks off, it has been fine. It would perhaps be unfair to compare it to the experience at my sister's DQs, since she worked her way up before buying her first store, and she learned how to build teams who enjoy working together and who love her like an older sister (and now like a mom since she is older). A lot of the negative reviews here seem to revolve around drive-through, which we make a point never to use. The idea of leaving all of the vehicles idling in line seems lazy and wasteful to me, but perhaps I would feel different if all those families brought their kids into the lobby! I often wonder if eating out would be more pleasant if people knew they were being reviewed based on how they act as customers! read more

I placed a curbside order and parked in the designated curbside pick up area. I was in clear view of the drive through window and the employees at the window clearly saw me waiting. After about 10 minutes of waiting another car had pulled up and went inside to pick up an order and got their order before me. I double checked that I was at the right location and that I had selected curbside correctly, I did. I decided to go inside and tell the cashier that I had a curbside order. It's bad enough that the owner hires teenagers that have no concept of customer service, but tonight I arrived 15 minutes before closing to find the crew practically done with closing up. I drove up to the window, and told the girl that their closing time is posted as 10pm. I couldn't believe it when she told me, "We ran out of ice cream." Just left the DQ..tried to order through the drive thru. Waited over 10 minutes and still no service. Girl kept coming over speaker saying ...be right with you, but never took order. Parked auto and went inside. There were 3 workers in the front 2 at the counter and a girl at the take out window. I advised the young man that we had waited 10 minutes and could not get service. Yesterday immediately after doing a double at the hospital I decided to go get my two sons and take them to Dairy Queen for the first time . What a mistake ! Granted it was busy so I totally get it from previously working in the restaurant industry for 12 years . We ordered and waited 20 minutes for the food . I waited another 20 minutes at the counter and I finally stated to one cashier if I was going to get the sundaes I ordered now over 30 minutes ago and now the to go food was cold and she just seemed annoyed and rushed . In this process the same blonde boy was staring at my 14 yr old hispanic child like he was going to rob the place which further annoyed me . I have experienced stares and racism since moving to Florida but it boiled me to see my son experience it .
