I love the product selection here. The store is neat and organized. They have vitamins, supplements, fresh veggies, milk, non perishables, fresh daily soups made, frozen and refrigerated items. We shop here once in a while. We prefer the smaller health food store in Eustis, I guess partly because it has been there so long and is closer to where we live, plus the prices are comparable. But sometimes Health Basket has something we couldn't find elsewhere. It is a good location: on 441 but at an intersection that isn't as crazy as some are on that highway. The parking is plentiful also. It would be nice if it were open on Sundays, but I am sure their employees appreciate a guaranteed day off, so more power to them. As I recall, they have a small cafe counter, though we have never tried anything from it. read more

When I'm on vacation I always look up the local health food store. This was a nice place to visit. Had lots of allergen friendly foods. Produce and fruit looked delicious. The place was clean and organized. There was a juice bar and the staff from super friendly. read more

I'm not sure what I think of this place. Went in to buy some maca and no one helped me. There were 2 young girls just giggling and one guy on his phone in the aisles all workers but paid no attention to me at all. I walked by them at least three times each. By the time I went to the checkout there was an older lady at the register who was fine but if that's your store maybe have your employees check on customers. I would think that's why they are there. I will go again bc it was really clean and did have a lot of supplements but maybe ask someone how they are doing because I could have used some help. read more

this store is really big for a Health Food place. They kind of have everything. Why the lack of stars? Well,for the lack of customer service. Look,I don't want to be a jerk here,but every other health food/vitamin place I've ever been to has had staff available and willing and in most cases passionate about assisting and educating the consumer if for nothing else than emptying a pocket.Even the mall chain vitamin shops have been decent resources. Not this place. They could have easily had much more of my money today because they had an impressive selection of everything! Problem is,I don't know what 95 % of it is or does or what it can do for me. I went in with a specific shopping list from my internist who wants me to add vitamin suppliments.Specific vitamin suppliments. Did you know there's a crap ton of different types of vitamin C? Esther and non Esther for example?I don't know who Esther is so I went with one that was without. Vitamin D3.Has a few different types as well as the Zinc... I had a list. I looked very lost. But not lost enough for the 2 women working stocking shelves right next to me to even make eye contact let alone say hello or ask if I needed any help. In fact since I did look lost,they both made very sure to be so engrossed in their stock work as to render me wholly invisible. I dared not ask either one of them which was better or about the vast array of brands and did they have a brand they preferred.... So I grabbed the least expensive and most basic of options and checked out. The lady behind the counter at the register was a breath of fresh air and very nice,but there being a few people in line behind me at that point I really had no questions any more and just wanted to leave... I drove all this way for soy creamer to no avail. It doesn't seem to exist around this part of the world. You can find almond and coconut no problem. I'm grateful there's a health food store but I simply don't find anything to buy when I stop at this one. I send them good energy though for the clientele to expand and support them. Since moving to Mount Dora I've been really wanting to check this place out. I'm a bit of a health nut so I figured this would be a great place for me! However, since visiting I've realized this would be the perfect place for me if I had a ton more money. Now let me start out by saying that the selection here is great. Not only great food products, but they also have health and beauty products. There's also Kombucha on tap (which I tried and it was really good). However, I noticed that the price of everything is much higher than any other store of this type that I've ever been to. In fact, some of the stuff here you can get at Target for at least half the price. I know a lot of people were writing that the service here was terrible, but I didn't really have an issue on that end of it. The cashier seemed a little frazzled, but she was nice. It's nice that a store like this exists in this fairly barren area, but I really think it's worth it to just drive an extra 20 minutes to go to The Fresh Market. read more

This is a fairly large store that offers a good selection of supplements and grocery products. They have a small produce selection. I come here mainly for the small juice bar counter that I am happy also offers shots of turmeric and wheat grass to counter the effects of my often unhealthy lifestyle habits! The cafe/juice bar is open until 7. I'm not fond of their sandwich/wrap selection. But they do have a very good selection of organic essential oils that I like to use topically and orally, which are hard to find elsewhere. And if they don't have something in stock that you are searching for, they will try to special order it and contact you when it arrives. If you sign up for their rewards program, by simply giving them your name and phone number, then you will receive a 5% discount immediately on your purchases. read more

With a severe lack of businesses of this type in Mount Dora, it's definitely great to see a place like Health Basket. It has a great business model, however it really does need some work. This place is basically like a mini Whole Foods. Great organic products that can be difficult to find at times. Although they have a fairly good selection, their prices are a tad on the ridiculous side. There were quite a few things I found that can be purchased at the Target down the street for about half the price. I know this is an independent business, but it seems a little extreme to me. The service here was also just ok. Everyone was fairly nice, but they seemed like they could use a bit more knowledge on the products. If you're going to charge high end prices for things, you need a staff that is extremely knowledgeable about at least a majority of the products. Health Basket needs a bit of work, but I think they could be very successful if they improve on even just the two things listed above. In the mean time, I would go to Target and check out their organic section. read more

This is an excellent health foods shop. They have good food and beauty selections. They even have a cozy spot to eat in a portion of the store. The people working there are unusually helpful and polite. One does not find that kind of help often these days. If you need just vitamins, this is the place to go in Lake County. If you seek any advise, definitely try this store. read more

If we're talking about this place in terms of health food stores, I'd give it 3 stars, but if we're talking about health food stores in Lake County, I'm giving it 4. There are some specialty things I can't find here (like tempeh!), and if I didn't go into Orlando so often, I'd probably talk to them about special ordering it, but alas I am not stuck to the confines of Mount Dora. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and offer casual conversation and remarks about your purchases. If you become a "member" (basically giving them your phone number and email address - for free), then you get 5% off the listed price. It doesn't seem like much, but it does add up. While I prefer to order my vitamins and supplements online to save costs, they have an awesome selection of those things. They have a pretty decent selection of frozen things - like non-dairy ice creams, gluten-free breads, organic meats and cheeses, and even organic produce (but I found that to be incredibly overpriced). Great selection of Bob's Red Mill stuff like various grains & flours, and they sell both almond and hemp milk (which you can find at Publix, but you want to support your local health food store, right?). It's good to know this place exists, especially if you are health conscious or a vegan stuck in Mt. Dora. read more

Store appears to be in need of some organizing. There's just stuff everywhere. Let's not even talk about prices, OK let's. I was looking for organic butter. Yay I found it, only it was $9 for one four stick box. I found there same exact product in Bjs for $6.99 for two four stick boxes. So my first visit was my last. I'm so tired of businesses like this trying to make big money from every item. If you want for fair prices for quality organic items, stick with the Fresh Market. This store is fairly comprehensive and their prices are pretty good. We are not from this area but if we lived here, we would be shopping there for sure! My husband had an upset stomach and the smoothie window gave him a raw piece of ginger to chew on, that was nice of them! read more

I have bookmarked this location and been wanting to go for the longest time, but didn't have the right time and opportunity because I don't live close to one. They have a health basket in Clermont and the one I visited which is in Mt Dora. I was also told the one in Mt Dora is the biggest one. I have to agree with that statement because it felt like I walked in a Chamberlin's on steroids! Just to give you an idea.. it still has that small merchant feel and still yet big enough, but not so big that you're overwhelmed by the large size store as let's say Wholefoods. It's like the perfect in between blend size. There's a little sitting area with health books where you can enjoy a smoothie from the juice bar they have. I tried their pitaya smoothie. It was absolutely delicious with dragon fruit, mango, and pineapple in it. They have a wide variety of vitamins, some veggies, fridge section with dressings, shelves for your dry items like sauces, cacao chocolates, as well as soaps, and other non edible products too. They have a huge frozen section with vegan ice cream, cheese, cauliflower pizzas, sprouted breads etc.. I was specifically looking for a certain type of chocolate from a brand they carry, and they even offered to special order it for me! I was really happy and impressed with the customer service and willingness to assist. I was even hesitant to buy a dressing, that I was offered to try a sample of it! That level of customer service makes me want to go back even if it's a drive, just to be able to enjoy that level of experience and feel good about my money energy exchange. After a couple times of visiting the Health Basket in Mt Dora, I've come to realize the lack of care to take out the garbage... Furthermore, the garbage outside is always overfilling. The inside is constantly dusty and the employees are great help besides a few. A woman by the name of Samantha is good about making me feel like a bother. I also felt as if I was foolish of asking questions I wasn't sure of. The line was always long due to lack of support at the cash register. read more
