The location was the first - at Market and Midlothian, where it still stands today. My mother would always get the butter pecan, my father and I the chocolate pecan, and my brother, the chocolate. It's probably been 5 years since I've been to a Steak 'n Shake location. I remember when it was…read moredine-in service instead of just self-serve kiosk. My visit has some positives and negative vibes - the whole reason I'm reviewing this. The self-service kiosk was easy to figure out. You can easily navigate the screen to customized your order. Once you at the final screen to pay and get the receipt now it's a waiting game. It took 35-45 minutes to complete two separate orders. I remember the dine-in experience and yes you needed to wait the same time but it was set up that way plus you had dine in service. But getting take-out or going through the drive-thru shouldn't be the same wait times. Once I received the order I went home and discovered that they didn't give me the large onion rings. And their beef-tallow tater tots were like mushy torn off hash browns. I did call the store and they said to come back to resolve the missing onion rings. A few days later, I went inside to speak to the manager. Explain what happened and shown her the picture of the tater tots. She apologized and wanted to make it right. I ask can I get a replacement of the tots to fries. There wasn't an issue with that request. Gave me the fries, onion rings that I didn't receive, and some fresh tots to compensate this experience. I ordered some burgers to go and here is my conclusion: Positives: Burgers & shakes are excellent. Customer service is excellent. Supervisors to all the staff. Things do happen. Negatives: 35-45 wait times due to people dining in or going through the drive-thru. Any sides aren't worth it. I feel like they made them first and set it sit out before making the burgers and than the shakes. Giving this 3 stars. It was going to be 1 stars. And it doesn't deserve 5 stars. It all depends on the experience.
