This use the worst Dairy Queen I have ever visited. Absolutely understaffed. Closed several times in the middle of a day for no posted reason.Entire Saturday recently. Frequently the women manager is by herself with customers lined up outside drive thru and in the store. She"yells at the drive thru customers that in store customers come first!. Dairy Queen Corporate needs to fix this problem. The service is just plain poor. Inside the door you are in line standing next to a bucket of filthy smelly floor mop and water. I ordered a birthday cake for my son online a few days in advance. I asked for pickup at 11am on his birthday and showed up shortly after. When I walked in I said hello to a woman working the drive thru and told her I ordered a birthday cake. She completely ignored me and called over to another woman that I ordered a cake. That woman walked around mumbling to herself and then said, we don't have a cake order for you. I went out to my car to get my phone and showed her the order was placed and confirmed. She was on the phone with a manager who said they never got it. The best she could do was give me an undecorated cake wrapped in plastic. She then proceeded to charge me the full amount. I said, you are charging me for a fully decorated cake and I'm getting this still wrapped in plastic. She said, this is what it will have to be. Then she called the manager who said they would give me $4 off. Shocking how unbelievably rude and unaccommodating they were when they screwed up and I have to now present my son with this ugly undecorated plastic wrapped cake on his 16th birthday. read more

My second review within a month . swung by Dairy Queen to get some ice cream less than 2 hrs ago. I was informed before placing the ordered at the drive through , it could take 15 to 20 mins to complete the order since then were in the middle of making ice cream 7 pm on a Sunday night . Came here with the family and tried to get some ice cream. Whoever the woman was that was working the drive thru tonight 8/21/24 needs to not work food service. After every item we tried to add she kept asking with an attitude "anything else"?! What kind of service are you providing with that kind of attitude. Terrible experience. I travel a lot for work and usually have cravings for Dairy Queen. Unfortunately this location is the only one close to home and our family keeps trying to give it chances and it consistently fails and disappoints us. Since I do frequent Dairy Queen restaurants on my travels I can say this one in Southern Pines must just have poor management or something. There is always a machine broken and they are always out of some flavors or toppings. The ice cream is usually way too soft, like partially frozen whip cream or something. I think this will be our last trip here until they can get this place under better management. read more

I have loved DQ for decades, and as much as I want to patronize this place, they make it very hard. The drive-thru window (which is the only way to get food there) always looks filthy, as does the counter inside, which is very telling about HOW they DON'T consider cleanliness of any importance. And they past few times we have gone, we've ordered soft serve cones, and each time the soft serve is runny and doesn't even taste the same as it has over the years. I'm wondering if they even clean the machines at all, and if that can affect the quality of ice cream. I have been coming to this DQ for 18 years now, and really since covid, it has just been going downhill. Food was terrible and the service. was very rude and a kid was taking my order. and it was dirty.

So we've been in the area for about a year and a half and during that time we come to DQ 8, maybe 10 times. One really can't go wrong with pre-mix ice cream and be honest that's about all we've ever had here because this DQ appears to be run without a lot of adult supervision. I don't think I've ever walked into the store and found it clean. It's not dirty, it's more slapdash than anything else. What gets me are that the surfaces where food is prepared is never wiped down that I've seen and it has a feel of ongoing chaos and sadness. Empty napkin dispensers and sticky tables. This DQ doesn't feel like it would be a fun place to work, and maybe that's why it feels so chaotic as sad. It's busy enough for sure, there's always a queue so I guess that's what works when the kids want a Blizzard or something along those lines. read more

I would give zero stars if it was an option, sadly it isn't. Tonight (7/8/23), we attempted to go inside as a family and order blizzards. The lobby was closed, so off to the drive thru to order for a crowd. A Choco Brownie extreme blizzard had stale brownie bites in it, a Reese Peanut Butter Cup with cookie dough blizzard had NO Reese cups in it and all blizzards were made with soft serve that had a freezer burn consistency. A second trip through the drive thru to correct the Reese/Cookie dough blizzard resulted in a blank stare from the kid working the window. He asked to see the said incorrect blizzard - after his inspection he finally went to make another. After receiving the correct blizzard, it was determined to have cookie dough pieces that had a foul taste. Needless to say, it was not edible. The others ate their blizzards, but within 25 minutes everyone was making a quick trip to the restroom. Save your time, your money and your toilet paper and don't go to this DQ. read more

Mostly staffed by high school kids who do a great job! Lines tend to get a little long in the hotter months, but that is to be understood. The workers are always incredibly courteous and deliver the excellent, classic dairy queen treat to my family and me. read more

Ice cream was off- it wasn't white and cream but chunky consistency was scooped not soft serve. The color was not white but milky water. Ordered a pecan mudslide that only contained fudge and pecans with 2 blobs of milk water. Drive thru was slow- received one treat peanut buster and waited another 5 minutes for the other. If you don't know what a pecan mudslide is google/ask/ or claim you don't have. Ice cream was off and not good- it found it's way to the trash can. read more

Don't order a large dipped cone. You will get it in a cup, barely covered with the flavored coating. Apparently the large "doesn't fit" in the cone dip. At first it seemed like it was fine, then when I received it, I realized it was a waste of money. The 7 car line behind me prevented me from asking for another size and seeking a cone that wasn't sub par. If I had an idea for you, it would be to stop doing large cones in a cup if you don't plan on covering the ice cream with the flavored topping or offering the cone with the ice cream as a side. read more

in all the times I've gone to DQ for ice cream tonight I received the worst customer service that I've ever experienced there after asking the employee if he had gotten the first item that I ordered he said no and continued to argue with me saying I had asked for the item to be taken off which I did not and then proceeded shut the drive through door and asked another employee if they could just send him home. I love Dairy Queen but I will not be going back to this one. I have been to this one a few times but twice in a row they screwed up my ice cream of all things. They always mess something up but this was a little ridiculous.I purchased a small brownie batter blizzard the first time. No brownie pieces. The second time I decided to get a small chocolate extreme. The guy on the speaker made me repeat my order back to him a couple times. I had to say each thing individually. I didnt special order anything. I got everything straight from the menu. When I got my ice cream I come to find out it wasn't even chocolate. They poured a little chocolate in it and didn't mix it. The majority of it was vanilla with a little candy at the bottom. Not worth paying for ice cream if it's going to be wrong. I guess I will just stick to dilly bars if I go. read more

Literally worst service almost every time I go to this location . I went the other day to get ice cream for my crew which I do VERY often the young lady at the window was so rude it was me by myself getting 4 Sunday's and 7 shakes when she handed them to me she didn't bother trying to give me a drink tray when I did ask for one she said "yup" and closes the window ! When she handed them out she failed to push them down in so they spilled all over my car and me ! Mind you I had to go back to work b then when she handed me my Sunday's she didn't even put tops on them ! She put the spoons in the and no tops so when I asked for tops I again got a attitude . After the shakes fell on me the girl never once asked if I needed napkins or would like my shakes remade ! I've tried calling a manager multiple times and I always get told "there won't be one till such and such day" I understand young kids want jobs for extra money but girls like that don't need a job .
