First time there and there are two lanes. Got in the lane away from the drive thru and had no clue what to do after I ordered. There was a car in front of me not doing anything. After about 10 minutes the car moved. There I sat still not knowing what to do. How do I pay do I go in to get the food? I kept calling for the woman in the drive thru window and she was ignoring me. I don't usually leave reviews but this really needs to be said. I was there tonight 7/19/22 and I had a large order for 7 hungry children. Destiny greeted me at the walk up window and immediately saw my frustration. She assured me that everything was ok and helped me make the best choices for my money. Through all of my crazy ordering, she kept a smile on her face and kept reassuring me that everything was ok. I got my order and NOTHING WAS MISSING!!! All the kids were satisfied with their meals. New to Cookout and this was our second visit to one and first to this location. NO indoor eating but plenty of outside tables, some near the building and some in a grassy area near parking. Parking was interesting and the drive thru was busy, busy. Great food. I enjoy the chicken sandwich and with 2 sides I ordered chicken nuggets and fries so my preschooler can share with me. The entire location is so poorly designed that if you stop to eat here, other than using drive through, you'll be stuck waiting in the drive through line anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes awaiting your turn to use the only exit. Secondly, I ordered a "big double" burger, thinking that since it costs significantly more than the regular, that it should at least be bigger than a regular. What they gave me, was a burger with two very small, thin patties, about half of the total weight of a "regular" burger. The total meat content is even less than a $1 McDouble from McD's. read more

How is it that I've never reviewed Cookout before now? So strange since it's my guilty pleasure fast food haven! I LOVE this place! I lived here for a year before I ate here for the first time and I was hooked! It's not gourmet or fancy, but for fast food it's head and shoulders above the likes of McDonald's, Sonic, etc.. I have only used the drive-thru, never parked and walked up to order. They do have two drive-thru lanes, but be warned - the one on the right requires a bit of maneuvering to get to the window, requiring crossing over in front of the left hand drive lane and then swinging back around to get to the exit once you have your food. Not really hard, but confusing the first time and nerve-racking when it's truly busy. The food is good and reasonably priced. The burgers are tasty with beefy, charcoal grilled flavor. They have a few sizes and a few named combos of toppings ("Steak Style" is A1 sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato & mayo), but of course you can get whatever you please. I have only had the regular -which I would guess is a quarter of a pound - and never been disappointed in the portion. Toppings have always been fresh. I've had different versions of the chicken sandwiches but my favorite is the Spicy Chicken. It's reminiscent of the Wendy's version but so much better. The hot dogs are good as are the corn dogs. I haven't tried the BBQ. Fries are crispy outside and creamy inside but the onion rings are just average. The other sides that I've tried are either above average or really good. I have found the service to be consistently good. I'm not sure what those who have been unhappy experienced, but I have always been greeted with a smile and often a "Honey" or "Sweetie" thrown in. It's ALWAYS pretty busy here and I'm amazed at how friendly the people at the windows are considering they barely have time to breathe! read more

I went to the Aberdeen Cook Out drive thru for dinner today. I got the "pulled pork" and it was DISGUSTING. First off it wasn't pulled pork, it was ground pork. I couldn't tell what was stronger, the salt or the vinegar taste! The fries and hush puppies were chewy and old. The most disgusting tasting food I have ever had. OK I have been visiting the area and been looking for a tasty burger. Wendy's and the rest somehow don't taste as good as home so I asked a cop and he sent me here. It's a dinky place but it has 3 drive thru lines and although the lines were long during lunch time they were moving them along and there was no real wait. I ordered the double with cheese with tomato lettuce and mayo and a chocolate shake and when I got back to looking at it I was disappointed. The burger in its wrapper seemed small. The way I heard it was big and tasty. Well I took a bite and BAM! its taste is insanely good! the tomato and lettuce and cheese tasted better somehow and the charbroiled is back home on the grill charbroiled not BK charbroiled. On Saturday, May 8th I visited the Cookout location in Southern Pines, N.C. at approximately 10:30 p.m. The line was extremely long and moving rather slow. When it came time for me to choose a drive-thru lane, I drove around to the outer intercom and was told that lane was closed but how was I supposed to know that? Do I have to get back in the line and wait ANOTHER 20 minutes???? There were 2 cars behind me waiting as well. I called in to speak with someone named Alicia and was told that the outer lane was blocked off (which it was NOT) and that if I drove around it then "that's not my problem" and she hung up in my face! She was rude and unprofessional and made zero effort to compromise. As soon as she hung up I witnessed another employee beginning to stack crates in front of the lane I was in to finally block it off. Alicia basically called me a liar and hung up in my face when I wasn't wrong. I'm seriously appalled. A woman named Diamond took my order and was super sweet and apologized for my poor experience and that's the only thing that made my visit any better.
