The wait was a bit long as there was a slow moving line, not entirely shocking for a McDonald's. We ordered a McDouble, McChicken, fries, and a McFlurry. Honestly the burgers and fries were hot and my order was correct. If McDonald's food is hot then it's decent fast food. The service was friendly enough. If I had to stop here again I wouldn't be mad about it.

Received my food at 1:07 after walking up to the counter after my app had notified me 10mins ago it was ready. Overheard the employees mentioning they had bagged the wrong food. Nuggets were okay but fries tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. Furthermore, I went to the register to order a large fountain drink and the worker had the audacity to walk me to the kiosk and prompted me to place my order there. Several people were standing up at the counter waiting on food for 15+ minutes and they were referring to the DoorDasher as "DoorDash lady." Also, one of the employees were sitting to the chairs on tbe right. Either they get hour long breaks or they genuinely forgot about her because she was there for the entire time we were there. Abysmal service and a disgrace to my time, will drive to Wytheville instead next time

The family and I were on an adventure, heading up to Niagara Falls. I was using my trusty Yelp app to try to find a cool lunch spot. I saw Skeeter's, and knew we had to try it. So we jumped off the interstate, and wound our way down to the quaint downtown of Wytheville. It's a beautiful little town, and also the birthplace of Edith Boling Wilson, wife of President Woodrow Wilson. So we rolled into town and spotted Skeeter's nostalgic brick corner building. Very cool looking, and fitting for the 101 year old business. Alas, we got out of the car and excitedly walked up to the door,,, to find a CLOSED sign. We looked through the window, and could tell that we were missing something special. So we walked down to the street to a pizza place, and had a less than stellar lunch. Actually, it was just bad. So, went went off on our Niagara adventure, and a few days later we were heading home. It was nearing lunchtime, and we saw the sign for Wytheville. My wife said, why don't we try Skeeter's again. I called to make sure they were open, and we hit the streets of Wytheville again. We found a table at Skeeter's and started looking over the menu. They have plenty to offer besides hot dogs, but we had to try these world famous dogs. My wife and son got the regular "red weiner" dogs with fries. I had to go for the big 1/4 pound Black Angus dog. I was happy to find that they were in the process of changing their store over from Pepsi to Coke! As I said up at the top of this review, Skeeter's certainly lived up to the World Famous Hot Dog moniker! My big Black Angus dog was so good, that I had to order a second one! I think I can safely say, that if Skeeter's had been open on our way north, we would have still stopped on the way back, to enjoy it again! We found nothing bad to say about Skeeter's. The atmosphere, the decor, the food, the prices, the staff... all were absolutely wonderful! This is the kind of small town, hidden gem, that I love to find in my travels! We'll be back!

It's in this really charming historic building (apparently where First Lady Edith Wilson was born), and the whole place has that nostalgic mid-1900s vibe that just feels cozy and fun. Super cute spot. Our waitress was also really friendly and made us feel welcome right away, which always makes a difference. That said... the food itself was just kind of average. The hot dogs and fries weren't bad at all, just nothing that really stood out. For a place that's been around for over 100 years, I guess I was expecting something a little more memorable. It ended up tasting like something I could grab at a random country gas station. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in for the atmosphere and history, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for the food alone.

I came in, got greeted fairly quickly, and was asked where I wanted to sit. I told the hostess whatever was easier. She said "okay I'll sit you at the bar". I said "perfect! One of my favorite places to be!". She then told me "well just so you know, we don't serve any alcohol". No duh. I eat Denny's all over the country on average five times a month or more and probably spent more on these franchises during my life and she'll ever make there, but that's neither here nor there. Anyhow, I was looking forward to getting a Cobb salad with salmon, but she notified me they weren't doing salads because of the latest SCAMdemic (ya know, wince we the people bullied away the "HantaVirus") because of Taylor farms tainted lettuce grown in Central America. I know this outbreak is primarily isolated to this region of the country, but I don't believe anything the CDC or federal government has to say, and I would have eaten a salad if they had lettuce. Because there's absolutely nothing to be afraid of. But anyways, next to Taco bell, I guess Denny's gets their letters from Taylor farms, which probably isn't doing too good in the stock market right now. But I digress. So I went with my 2nd usual the crazy spicy sizzling skillet, with broccoli in place of potatoes. I actually now see how they make the Skillet sizzle! They have an actual Skillet sizzler! I never knew that, and it blows my mind that at some of the lower performing Denny's, the waitresses refuse to utilize this simple 45 second tool. This particular Denny's doesn't carry the Louisiana hot sauce, so I had to use that Cholula crap. I hate Cholula. It was okay, a little smaller than normal but it was fine. I ended up coming back and ordering a grand slam breakfast because I was still hungry. All in all my meal came to around $32 with my trucker discount, which means Denny's is no longer a low cost, high quality eating establishment. I could have dropped that on barbecue across the street. I Interacted with a lot of the wait staff, and they were all great people. Super happy, engage with the customers, worked cohesively together. So no issues there! Overall, positive visit. And unlike other Denny's at other truck stops that I will absolutely refuse to revisit, this will actually be one that I'll come back to. ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149.
