Things that make this Dairy Queen great: 1. It's a Dairy Queen, not a DQ Grill & Chill weird hybrid thing. I came here for ice cream, not dinner. Friendly's has a long established their dominance in that space, and they do it well. I'm not against the existence of a DQ G&C (except for that abysmal acronym), in the same vein that a Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin Robbins hybrid is fine - it's okay, just not ideal. More choices, more people, more ice cream waiting. 2. Classic Signage. There's no question that this location has a long, well-established history in North Bergen - so much so that their sign hasn't been updated in decades. Love it. 3. Parking Lot. In an area largely void of actual parking lots, you can both drive and park here. DQ parking lots are also dual purpose - parking and eating. Fact: Summertime ice cream tastes 71% better eaten while standing or leaning on something (hint: guardrail) in the parking lot. 4. The ice cream itself. Chocolate soft serve, chocolate shots, chocolate dip. In a cup, cone on top. I dare you not to like it. Any variety of blizzard is also a go-to. 5. It's quick. I've been here with long lines, short lines, and no lines. Don't get discouraged if it's crowded. It goes a lot faster than you might think. 6. The soft serve shape, aka - the blob. We drove to this location because it showed closing at 10 pm it's 6/25/20, we arrived 9:15 & as soon as we stand behind the line an angry employee welcomes us by shouting : " we are closing & not serving any other customers except the ones in front of you" My husband and I, didn't want to argue with them about the closing time that is posted on the website & left peacefully. My softball team and I came here recently after practice. I mean it makes sense, why not put back on the pounds we worked off in the sun after all those hours right? Location wise, it can be better and not in the "better" areas of north bergen. About ten parking spaces in the lot and sits next to a dunkin donuts. Went on a Wednesday afternoon...so it wasn't crowded. Service was alright. Served right away. Everyone in my group ordered blizzards, however, I went for a chocolate brownie thing served in a cone bowl. They happened to pour more fudge and whip cream than Ice cream and brownies which I wasn't too crazy about. Luckily my boyfriend was there to give me a few spoonfuls of his Jurrasic blizzard which was tasty. If I come back I would probably just stick to getting a blizzard and nothing "fancy". I dont know about this place a little pricey. Also its like the North Bergen car show. People show up to show case their rimmed out iced out new whip in the summer. I came here for the first time in years. I really wanted to try the "improved" blizzards. First of all, online and in all the new commercials it says that each blizzard is handed to you upside down or your next one is free, thus assuring they are thick and creamy. When my friend and I ordered out blizzards they were handed to us right side up, and we mentioned their new policy. The employee gave us a snark attitude and said it would be only the blizzard of the month. No where on the website or commercial did it mention those specifics, therefore i'm pretty sure the employee just didn't feel like doing it. It sounds trivial that I would be so upset about something so silly but if i'm going to settle for (below)average quality Ice cream the least I can receive is decent service. No need for attitudes. She could have simply given us her poor excuse in a nice manner. My blizzard was OK by the way. I turned it upside down myself and it did not pour out. read more

I usually love this Dairy Queen but I had a pretty bad experience tonight. It's like what I was ordering was going in one ear and out the other. I only ordered 3 things and 2 were wrong. I ordered a cotton candy blizzard which came out great. Then I ordered chocolate ice cream in a cup with hot fudge and chocolate sprinkles, seems easy right? They put rainbow on and when I told the woman at the counter I asked for chocolate sprinkles not rainbow she gave a me a face and walked to the woman making the ice cream in the back who also made a face and then came back over to me and asked can they just put chocolate sprinkles on top. Ummm.. no that's not what I ordered. So I told her that the person I ordered for wouldn't eat it with rainbow sprinkles on so she gave me a bit of an attitude but they made it over. Lastly, I ordered a vanilla blizzard with cookie dough, hot fudge and cheesecake bites in it and I got cookie dough, chocolate ice cream and these malt pieces that I'm not even sure what candy it was. I went to Dairy Queen last night and the girls that worked there were VERY RUDE including the manager/owner. They got my order wrong and when I told her it was wrong (nicely) she proceeded to argue with me and hand back the ice cream as she told me I was wrong. Mind you, they were rude from the beginning of the service, as well as to other people. They acted like they didn't want to be there and hated their jobs. The manager told me I was wrong and that I was rude and that I need to "learn to talk to kids." She was just, if not, ruder than her own workers. I absolutely love Dairy Queen, and unfortunately (or fortunately for my waist and wallet) it's one of the only national chains that isn't represented in any of the five boroughs. I determined I was was blizzard deprived enough and it was nice enough outside that I decided to find the closest Dairy Queen I could bike to from Brooklyn. Well this was it. Unfortunately it's just a window with no seating so I had to pop a squat on the side of the building with my two, yes two, mini blizzards (a seasonal pumpkin pie and my go-to strawberry cheesequake) and savor every moment of it as I won't be making that bike ride again until next summer. read more

Absolutely the worst service I ever had in years. I asked for an ice cream float. They refused to make it. The girl said they only make floats with soft ice cream. I told her that that is not a float, a float is hard ice cream and soda. I asked for the manager/owner. He was a complete jerk. He says "we can't make floats that way" " sure you can, that is the definition of a float" we can charge you separately but we can't put them together" " why not?!, aren't you the owner? That makes no sense whatsoever!" " well if you don't like it you can go some where else". Seriously, did you forget this is not a Russian bread line. I didn't know I was at the soup nazi's store.
