A coworker went and grabbed us dessert today. It was a great day. I ordered a dozen salted chocolate chip cookies for colleagues that didn't order ice cream. It was a lovely small portioned treat to feel less guilty I had crushed walnuts I added on the side from my personal stash at work the place seems to be a nut free topping kinda palace but they have some fun unique flavors. I can't speak for the service as I wasn't there but my coworker didn't complain. I will say the cookie tasted great. I also tried their magic bar a small bite very sweet but quality ingredients fyi. Milk Sugar Love on McWilliams is a few doors down from my friend's favorite book shop in the area. We stopped by this cozy spot on the way to the movies for a walking sweet treat. The staff is nice and helped us with our two samples each. My friend opted to get the earl grey fudge and I got the dulce de leche. The ice cream is delightful with unique flavors and really nice consistency. Also appreciated that it's a more reasonably priced artisan ice cream at $6.05 a scoop. read more

Everytime I visit Milk Sugar Love I want to do a little skip because of how good the ice cream is. I've been visiting for a little over a decade now and the cream quality is always consistently great, and the flavors continue to delight. It's definitely a step above other dessert shops and more creative than your classic vanilla, chocolate, butter pecan flavors you might get at a standard spot, which is great for folks like me who like anything but basic flavors. They rotate through 12 flavors but some of the standouts to me include honey lavender, matcha cookie, and earl grey fudge. They've always been generous about letting customers sample flavors (probably especially true if there's no line), and the team behind the counter is extra smiley and nice to kids and people with pups. It's just a friendly neighborhood ice cream spot that's stood the test of time for good reason! I always try to stop in when Im in JC. read more

We stopped in here after spending some time in the park directly across the street and this place was very cute and cozy, with unique flavors of ice cream being offered. I tried the Malt Ball ice cream, but we opted for the salted chocolate chip cookie, the magic bar, and the raspberry coffee cake. My favorite was the raspberry coffee cake. I wish the magic bar was thicker, with walnuts instead of the almonds. The service was simple, only one employee in there on a Saturday afternoon in spring. The ice cream here is incredible and delicious but unfortunately the staff and the customer service we received made us not want to come back here. I'm writing this with the purpose of hoping to help the owner because the wrong staff will really ruin your business and it's unfortunate because the quality of ice cream is great. When we walked in we were told extremely rudely by the girl at the register to wait outside until the people inside left. No problem, we exited right away. Then the customers that were inside came out, and said to us that the workers were really rude, basically warning us and told us that they were not nice to them. We almost turned away but I figured just to give it a shot and see for ourselves, and we had come all this way. The girl in the camo hat did not greet us even though we said hi and when we asked for a sample she picked it up and just extended her arm out with the sample so quickly and rudely and we would say thank you and she wouldn't respond. Her face was completely dead panned and non expressive and she seemed really irritated when we were asking for things, even thought we abided by the 2 sample minimum (which I think is slightly ridiculous but whatever) Overall a disappointing experience but the ice cream was delicious. I hope the owner / management looks for better staff. I'd say also to play some music while you're inside because the vibe inside and the unfriendliness of the staff is really working against all the hard work that goes into your lovely product! read more

I'm so glad this place was able to maintain their business during COVID. I moved away for a couple of years and found myself craving their lemon olive oil gelato frequently. It was one of my first stops once I landed back in NJ in July. Their matcha flavors, especially the matcha brownie that they release every so often has me in a chokehold. I've tried a whole bunch of ice cream shops in JC and I think this one's my favorite (now that Ample is gone). They have a nice charcoal ice cream, I found it very unique and has an interesting texture, although I generally mix it with another flavor. The service is fucking IMPECCABLE. Namely, I just love Jeska--super hospitable and really nice. I've brought my whole family and she accommodated everyone extremely well. Whoever signs her checks, if you're reading: Give her a raise. The place itself is rather small and you have to wait outside. It's like the world's bougiest, most instagrammable hole-in-the-wall. I must not go at super busy times because I've never had to wait longer than like ten minutes. Look, I'll level with you: It's expensive. I find it to be worth it, as an occasional treat--even my friend who normally hates ice cream likes their stuff. This place ALWAYS has a line around the corner. I went on a Wednesday night and luckily there was no line this time. My boyfriend ordered the midnight cocoa with a chocolate waffle cone. I didn't realize the midnight cocoa had charcoal in it. It was very rich and delicious. My hazelnut chip with regular waffle cone had a more subtle flavor. I think the chocolate waffle cone would've paired really well with this ice cream. There were other interesting flavors like early grey fudge and matcha Oreo that I want to come back and try! I wasn't a huge fan of this, but my friend loved it. - salted caramel was quite bitter for me and the salt tasted like the salted cream foam you get in bubble tea - honey lavender was quite sweet and really creamy. The lavender is extremely light. Definitely would buy a pint of just the earl grey fudge and nothing else. I had the chocolate charcoal ice cream in a waffle cone. It was the first time I've tried charcoal in ice cream. The texture is really smooth and not too sweet. It was good, but the next time I think I'll go for the double chocolate flavor. The waffle cone was very fresh and crispy. You can't order through the window. Rather you have to do it online which is a little awkward. However, it is Covid safe. Everyone I was with loved their ice cream, too. This is a great location because there's a Cuban restaurant just steps away. And ice cream is a refreshing follow up to Cuban cuisine. read more

This tiny ice cream shop in Hamilton Park packed a huge surprise with their creative flavors and decadent ice creams! We tried the Earl Grey Chocolate Fudge flavor and WOW! I never thought that tea and chocolate could go so well as an ice cream flavor. They have about 8 flavors of ice cream as well as offer pints to buy and take home. Usually there is a line out the door. They only allow one party into the tiny shop at a time, so there usually is a line but the area is safe and nice. I was contemplating between Earl Grey Fudge Ice Cream Pint and Honey Lavender Ice Cream Pint. Felt tea-y at the last moment so I went with Earl Grey. I loved it!!! - It was totally my cup of tea! Just the right balance of tea scent and sweet cream, you can see the small specks of tea leaves and swirls of ice cream. Not much fudge, which I actually prefer - I wouldn't mind if there weren't any fudge at all. Fun fact: I don't know if it's the caffeine from Earl Grey or I'm just too excited reminiscing the flavor, I was up almost all night after a whole pint of this ice cream.
