Everytime I visit Milk Sugar Love I want to do a little skip because of how good the ice cream is. I've been visiting for a little over a decade now and the cream quality is always consistently great, and the flavors continue to delight. It's definitely a step above other dessert shops and more creative than your classic vanilla, chocolate, butter pecan flavors you might get at a standard spot, which is great for folks like me who like anything but basic flavors. They rotate through 12 flavors but some of the standouts to me include honey lavender, matcha cookie, and earl grey fudge. They've always been generous about letting customers sample flavors (probably especially true if there's no line), and the team behind the counter is extra smiley and nice to kids and people with pups. We stopped in here after spending some time in the park directly across the street and this place was very cute and cozy, with unique flavors of ice cream being offered. I tried the Malt Ball ice cream, but we opted for the salted chocolate chip cookie, the magic bar, and the raspberry coffee cake. My favorite was the raspberry coffee cake. I wish the magic bar was thicker, with walnuts instead of the almonds. The service was simple, only one employee in there on a Saturday afternoon in spring. I'm so glad this place was able to maintain their business during COVID. I moved away for a couple of years and found myself craving their lemon olive oil gelato frequently. It was one of my first stops once I landed back in NJ in July. Their matcha flavors, especially the matcha brownie that they release every so often has me in a chokehold. I've tried a whole bunch of ice cream shops in JC and I think this one's my favorite (now that Ample is gone). The service is fucking IMPECCABLE. Namely, I just love Jeska--super hospitable and really nice. I've brought my whole family and she accommodated everyone extremely well. Whoever signs her checks, if you're reading: Give her a raise. The place itself is rather small and you have to wait outside. It's like the world's bougiest, most instagrammable hole-in-the-wall. I must not go at super busy times because I've never had to wait longer than like ten minutes. Look, I'll level with you: It's expensive. I find it to be worth it, as an occasional treat--even my friend who normally hates ice cream likes their stuff. My husband and I had dinner close by when we parked our car we saw a long line for Milk Sugar Love. We said if it was still open when we got out of dinner we should try it because it must be good if the line is so long. I'm so glad they were still open when we were done dinner. This place ALWAYS has a line around the corner. I went on a Wednesday night and luckily there was no line this time. My boyfriend ordered the midnight cocoa with a chocolate waffle cone. I didn't realize the midnight cocoa had charcoal in it. It was very rich and delicious. My hazelnut chip with regular waffle cone had a more subtle flavor. I think the chocolate waffle cone would've paired really well with this ice cream. There were other interesting flavors like early grey fudge and matcha Oreo that I want to come back and try! I wasn't a huge fan of this, but my friend loved it. - salted caramel was quite bitter for me and the salt tasted like the salted cream foam you get in bubble tea - honey lavender was quite sweet and really creamy. The lavender is extremely light. Definitely would buy a pint of just the earl grey fudge and nothing else. I had the chocolate charcoal ice cream in a waffle cone. It was the first time I've tried charcoal in ice cream. The texture is really smooth and not too sweet. It was good, but the next time I think I'll go for the double chocolate flavor. The waffle cone was very fresh and crispy. You can't order through the window. Rather you have to do it online which is a little awkward. However, it is Covid safe. Everyone I was with loved their ice cream, too. This tiny ice cream shop in Hamilton Park packed a huge surprise with their creative flavors and decadent ice creams! We tried the Earl Grey Chocolate Fudge flavor and WOW! I never thought that tea and chocolate could go so well as an ice cream flavor. They have about 8 flavors of ice cream as well as offer pints to buy and take home. Usually there is a line out the door. They only allow one party into the tiny shop at a time, so there usually is a line but the area is safe and nice. I was contemplating between Earl Grey Fudge Ice Cream Pint and Honey Lavender Ice Cream Pint. Felt tea-y at the last moment so I went with Earl Grey. I loved it!!! - It was totally my cup of tea! Just the right balance of tea scent and sweet cream, you can see the small specks of tea leaves and swirls of ice cream. Not much fudge, which I actually prefer - I wouldn't mind if there weren't any fudge at all. Fun fact: I don't know if it's the caffeine from Earl Grey or I'm just too excited reminiscing the flavor, I was up almost all night after a whole pint of this ice cream. My review is teetering between 3 and 4 stars. I cannot necessarily say I am a fan (yet). I've been eyeing Milk Sugar Love for a while now and finally got the chance to visit. I placed my order online which was super easy as they take Apple Pay. They text you when your order is received and when it is ready. To my understanding, orders are not to be placed in person only online. When I went to pick up my order, there were 2 other people ahead of me ordering in person which took up time to pick up my order since I received the text that it was ready. Also, because it was ice cream I wanted to get it right away. After about 20 to 25 minutes of the people ordering ahead, I was next to pick up my order just for the lady to say it was no where to be found. She kindly asked me for my order again and made it on the spot. I think I was waiting for a total 35 to 40 minutes all together for ice cream while my bf was waiting in the car. It was also FREEZING out! Yes, I am sympathetic for employees working with short staff but that wait was way too long especially since I ordered online. Now to the good part... I ordered 3 scoops in a cup with brownie bites and a cone on top. Between the honey lavender, matcha oreo and Alfajores 'N' Cream. Yes, I mixed them all together because I was excited LOL but I was able to properly taste all 3 to see which one I liked. The honey lavender and matcha oreo would've been great alone as the lavender and matcha are both strong flavors. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the honey lavender but I love how they have it as an option as it is unique! My favorite was the Alfajores 'N' Cream which has light buttery cookies filled with dulce de leche and rolled in coconut; SO GOOD! The brownie bites and cone on top were a bit too much so next time i'll know to scale it back a bit. I will be back to try other flavors hopefully in the summer time! read more

This place certainly brings back memories living back in Jerz. After years in the scene, I was pleasantly surprised that they were still around when I recently went back home to visit. Craving delicious dessert, my nephew decided that the only way to satiate that craving would be to fill it with some MSL goodness. I was floored when he said that because I was half-expecting the place to have faded with the sunset, but it looks like it is still carrying on strong. I'm also wondering why I have never written a review of this incredible ice cream-haven after all these years--the first visit I can recall was sometime back in 2014--but I'm here to rectify that. With such unique flavors that are lovingly made, you really can't go wrong with what whatever your heart desires. The few that come to mind that I've had are Nutella, Thai tea, and caramel flan. Each bite is an exercise in restraint as in you have to restrain yourself from skipping along on the sidewalk like a cheesy romantic comedy movie. Anyways, I digress. Get: Lemon Olive Oil Ice Cream I've been meaning to come here for the longest time. I'm excited to write my first review during the pandemic! Oh how I've missed yelping and trying out new restaurants... Milk Sugar and Love has such a cute, white-painted exterior. Long windows allow you to peer into the magic that is an ice cream shop. The shop has a cute pink and white awning and white benches to enjoy your treats. You wait outside and one person or party can enter inside to pick out flavors. The outside has designated waiting lines on the ground so that everyone can wait distantly. Alternatively there is also a window where you can just place your order (kinda like Rita's) and receive your creamy concoction. We opted to go inside and just being inside made me so happy! They have classic and deliciously unique options. I had trouble picking between Cherry Mascarpone, Earl Grey Fudge, Honey Lavender and Lemon Olive Oil. In the end I went with the two later in a cup. (If you live nearby you can also get their ice cream by the pint). The Honey Lavender was a bit lackluster for me. The honey was strong and the lavender was a little bit weak. I like my lavender flavored food to go right up to the line where it starts tasting like soap but not quite there yet. High risk, high reward lol. This flavor missed the mark for me. The winner was the Lemon Olive Oil! The lemon was bright and lifted the ice cream and then the olive oil kicks in, providing a beautiful ending note, like a parachute, gently bringing the flavor home. When (not if) I come back, I'll definitely be getting the Lemon Olive Oil again but will try out a new secondary flavor. read more
