There is tons of options to choose from especially when it comes to ice cream and milk shakes,one of my personal favorites is mint stuff so usually I get mint with chocolate chunks in it!! I don't go often sadly since I am quite the busy chap but I adore DQ and have since I was just a little lad!! Place has gone way downhill. Some of the staff has been rude, it's painfully slow, they bicker, the ice cream machine makes runny ice cream, and the quality of the food has declined steadily since 2022. My wife, two daughters, oldest son, and I visited the Paintsville KY., Dairy Queen, (606) 789-5400, 906 Broadway St., Paintsville, KY 41240 on 2024-10-23. My two brothers with their two families also went to Paintsville but did not visit the Dairy Queen. I usually order footlong coneys when we go down because they are the best ones in both Ohio, Kentucky, and elsewhere. I only ordered one small coney because my youngest brother said he had been there a few weeks earlier and they had changed the recipe for the coney sauce. After patronizing this particular Dairy Queen for most of our lives, we now find that they have went the way of other establishments by ruining a good thing. What a disappointment; not only was the small coney awful but it cost $4.30. I am glad I didn't order 5 complete footlong meals with fries and drink. We then went to Arby's but it wasn't our first choice. If you have heard me brag up the Dairy Queen's food, I am now rescinding that suggestion. The coney sauce had a barbeque flavor and was redder than normal. Who puts barbeque sauce in coney sauce? We lived in Paintsville from 1952 -1967 and then moved to Ohio. Many of my friends and family now live in Ohio and elsewhere but still visit our childhood homes frequently. I still have a lot of family and friends who still live in Kentucky in both Salyersville and Paintsville. Spread the word and just maybe these hotdog destroyers will reverse this bad decision. Very over-rated establishment with oftentimes rude employees. This is a standard walk-up dairy bar type establishment that has "some" of the Dairy Queen products. They have blizzards and other ice-cream treats, but the warm food items are their own. I have had decent meals there in the past, but their quality has severely diminished over the years. I would also say about 90 percent of the time, the workers are extremely rude. There are a row of windows and just people swarming around and no order to anything. You can be standing at a window and you will have several employees walk by and ignore you. It is nothing to wait 20 minutes to even get someone to take an order from you. It is a place that makes me realize why I do not want to eat there nearly every time I am talked into eating there. read more

Do not waste your time coming here. Used to be a good place to get food. Order quick sometimes and people are standing in the kitchen not making food. Needs new management or shut the doors. Will not waste my time here ever again. Waited 30+ minutes to be told that we were third in line to have our order made. Food so disgusting and ill prepared that I was afraid to feed it to my family. Food items were not made according to the specifications of our order. Upcharged modifications that we paid for were not applied in food prep. Food was inexplicably cold even though I had to wait at the window for the two goof offs in the grill area to complete our order. The only things that were ingestible were the two cherry soda soft drinks. My family has been regular patrons of this local business for decades, and there have been other times when the food was subpar. However, this experience today was well beyond subpar. It was literally so disgusting that we feared sickness. I'm in disbelief that any paid foodservice worker could, in good conscience, allow such an atrocity to leave their window under their brand. Don't believe the hype about the "legend" of this establishment's food. It has dropped off steadily and deeply, and today has reached a low that may never again garner another visit from our family. This particular Dairy Queen is privately owned. They make their own homemade chili for the hotdogs, which makes them deeelicious! I love mine with "everything" which means wiener, yellow mustard, homemade chili, onions, and cole slaw...yum, yum! Their soft serve tastes better also, at least to my taste buds, which means better shakes, Blizzards, and all other things made with soft serve ice cream. So stop by if you're in the area, and ENJOY!
