Last year, I just happened to be driving down 2nd Street, saw the sign to this small out-of-the-way…read moreshop, hoping to find supplies for my other birds--We have 2 green cheek conures, 2 cockatiels and 2 parakeets--Quite the full house! I was impressed with the shop, fully stocked with absolutely everything anyone could use/need for their birds, including knowledgeable staff. Food includes: specialty, gourmet, pellet, seed. There's another area in the store for feeding+watering supplies/receptacles...Everything! Great variety of toys and different cage items to keep them busy, from being bored. You wouldn't think they could fit so much into a smaller place, but they do...Only it isn't cramped or crowded by any means. Anyway, because I just adore conures, happened to notice that there were 2 of the most precious little ones I'd seen, and needed them immediately. LOL. Sure, it was an impulse buy--Usually regretting impulse buys, but not this time! They'd just arrived at the shop not long before my visit, so there was an observation period the shop has, just to make sure the birds are healthy, to take care of birds' medical needs if present, and of course to make sure they aren't giving you an ill pet. About a week later, they came home with me. Owner provides histories and updates on the pets. Joe will keep you informed if there is any special need. One short adjustment period later, we trained and cared for "Charlie" and "Lady", and we now have FOUR conures---These are the two I picked up that day, super-healthy, super-happy little birbies! Ollie had a good experience with Linda and it was his first time at the groomers he's 7 months. I didn't want to have groomed because of his puppy fur but with the heatwave we've been having he was getting overheated. He's much cooler now. I can't thank Linda enough. If you look at my reviews, you'll see what happened to Albi Bear before. And how I came to find Linda. I went on an interview spree - I went to different places, met different groomers... I finally decided one afternoon to call Canine Design and ask them if it was okay to just drop by. This was the first time anyone said "Yes, we'd love to meet you!". Haha, you want to meet a high maintenance dog owner? Points to you, my friend! I brought Albi Bear with me because it was our day together, and Linda and her husband wanted to meet him, so I brought him in, and even though Albi is a bit stand off-ish with new people, they took the time to let him come to them. We went right away and set up an appointment. Fast forward to appointment day, and I see Linda has made it so she had all morning with Albi. I thought that would be great, because if he gives her trouble, it would give her time to get her job done. Well, the appointment only took an hour! He was a perfect gentleman, she even let me stay in the lobby area, and he let her do everything! She talked to him, she even laughed at the funny faces he makes when he hears her dog... Anyway, she did a fabulous job, and Albi was stress free. Fast forward to about a month later, she managed to squeeze him in for a last minute session. Unfortunately, because they were busy, Albi was left unattended in a crate for a few hours, and I was told he had a "little bit of diarrhea" which turned out to be that it was a lot but Albi ate it and later proceeded to vomit it in my car. Was I given a refund or discount for not watching my dog? NO. and you pay a pretty HEFTY fee for Canine Design! So after that, I have tried to make sure he does not end up in there for too long, which I have to insist on because even when I say this before the appointment, the other lady who works with Linda sometimes will say "OK come by at 4pm" when it is 9am. Hahahahaha... no. I would recommend this place, but just make sure you really are the hover doggy parent and know your dog and any of his anxieties. If none, YAY! You probably can save money and take him/her elsewhere, but if yes, Linda is fab but make sure they will have time to really care for your dog. Update: I was informed Linda's assistant is no longer there, which based on what I went through, might just be a good thing. Linda and her hubby are probably hands down the best. I was also told the grooming fee for Albi is the norm, but I have 3 receipts in his little folder that have 3 very different prices. However, pricing shouldn't matter for a doggy parent (usually!).

They have a nice selection of plants and then all the necessities associated with them, I love their locally made honey and the hand knit goods that I think are made from a local. So easy to get lost in here. They also have a fantastic selection of pet products too which is fine by my dogs- they always benefit from my trips here. I also love the warmth of the people that work here. They are a nice group of people. Just go when you have time to browse, it is a jampacked place that has a lot of different things!
