I stopped into this small bakery, which is situated next to a new hair salon... which itself is where my old friend Linit had his Best Donuts shop in the past. I was curious to see what they had compared to Linit's goodlicious fresh donuts, kolaches, and other morning goodies... as he had a solid FIVE STARS from me and I'm sure pretty much everyone else who had crossed his threshold! It was sad to have him move out of state and lose all those goodies... but... Anyway, walking in I was greeted by two smiling faces and one sleepy one... the young daughter of the owner. She's not quite two, but is adorable! I asked if I could take pictures and got the okay... they're not quite finished with everything, but have opened and are working around getting everything else put in place. I have to say WOW on what's in their bakery cases... it's edible ART. BEAUTIFUL. Abel, the owner, came from LA to the little town of Shelbyville to escape the madness that is California; he lived there 15 years. He and his wife are so sweet... I feel like family! They are so welcoming... This is a more Hispanic type bakery than an "American" type... and the bakery cases are filled with breads almost too pretty to eat... cheesecakes, tarts, flan, many gorgeous sweets I have no idea what they are but I want... mega YUM... beautifully decorated cakes and pies that one doesn't normally see around here... it's a literal feast for the eyes before you ever buy anything to eat!!! (I do need to brush up on my Spanish, as English is their second language... but Abel's English is fantastic. No one will have a problem understanding anyone, I don't think.) They offer free coffee with purchase, and if you had been there when Abel had brought out a fresh tray of croissants straight out of the oven... I'm talking SWOON!!! Oh yeah... y'all have to stop in. You really do. The visual makes you want one of EVERYTHING. I think he and his family will do well. Wedding cakes or quinceañeras... parties... birthdays... I was driving through Shelbyville and saw a bakery :) it was cute . They had pan dulce bread , flan , tarts ... I got a pastry . It was sooo good I will be back if I ever taking. A road trip . read more

Crispy sourdough bread outside and fresh, flavorful, hot, and gooey on the inside. There are regular items on the menus and some that rotate though. The staff is helpful and wants to satisfy your needs. There's almost always a line that moves quickly. The ice cream and sandwich counters are housed in a comfortable, nicely decorated building that also has table and counter seating. Outside are picnic tables with access to shade and a roofed area. There's a playground for the youngsters and dogs are welcome.

We went to Uncle Nearest Distillery. It honors the legacy of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the formerly enslaved man who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. It's located in Shelbyville, TN (also about a 1-hour drive from Nashville). They offer tours that tell Nearest Green's story and provide insights into the distillery's whiskey-making process. Tasting Sessions: Tours include tastings of Uncle Nearest's award-winning whiskeys, allowing you to sample different expressions and appreciate their flavor profiles. The amount of whiskey was very small and in plastic cups. The pictures on the sight reflects flight glasses during the tasting. That really needs to be addressed. The distillery's focus on Nearest Green's story makes it a culturally important and educational experience. I think it's a must for everyone going to a whiskey tour.

The best part of G.C. is the fact that they love our country & that is clearly demonstrated via their restaurant events. U.S.A. Their sticky buns are incredible (I have tasted many) -- these are truly the best!!! Also, their waffles, sandwiches & lattes are delicious! Their staff is very welcoming & they make folks feel right at home. Entrepreneurship is a beautiful thing, it runs deep in my own family, hence I have a lot of appreciation for family businesses.
