Great place to watch the sunset! Just plan on hangin' on this patio every night between 8-10pm (July 2010.) There's always a decent crowd, it seems. This place has a great mix of young and old and lots of charm...friendly staff too. I've heard the patio is actually part of the adjacent park, and that you can drink in the parks....ie. you can maybe bring your own beer to this patio. ? Is it true? Dunno, no one does it. While standing in the lobby, I witnessed the front desk manager, Elizabeth, raise her voice at another employee over what appeared to be some type of counting error. Regardless of the reason, it was uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness, especially in front of guests. This wasn't our first negative experience involving Elizabeth. During previous stays, my brother--who has minor mental disabilities--asked where the on-site gym was located and also had a question about his bill. Instead of receiving helpful customer service, he felt dismissed. He has unfortunately become accustomed to people overlooking or talking down to him, but the way he was treated by Elizabeth stood out for the wrong reasons. While I was there today, I also overheard another employee, Sara, say that she felt intimidated by Elizabeth's conduct. Hearing that only reinforced my impression that this may be an ongoing issue rather than an isolated incident. Is Elizabeth the General Manager? If so, that's concerning. If not, I hope ownership is made aware of how guests and employees are being treated. Because of these experiences, my brother will be choosing a different hotel for future visits to Pierre.

My sister has had quite a trying last couple of weeks with a knee replacement surgery and losing one of her beloved fur babies today. After she received her arrangement, she called me and said it was just beautiful and lifted her spirits. I just called the florist to thank them for doing a beautiful job for me and brightening the day of someone who really needed a boost. I've used them before for a funeral bouquet and they didn't disappoint me that time either. I will most certainly keep using this company for my needs as the occasion arises in the future.
