The Ramkota Hotel was the only hotel that took dogs in Pierre when we got to town. We were put on the second floor without the help of an elevator. My biggest problem was with the pillows, which is why I often travel with my own pillow. The pillows were so large!!! The hotel was seemingly under some construction. I would not recommend staying at the Ramkota Hotel in Pierre. Today, June 29, 2026, I accompanied my brother while he was checking into his room. While standing in the lobby, I witnessed the front desk manager, Elizabeth, raise her voice at another employee over what appeared to be some type of counting error. Regardless of the reason, it was uncomfortable and unprofessional to witness, especially in front of guests. This wasn't our first negative experience involving Elizabeth. During previous stays, my brother--who has minor mental disabilities--asked where the on-site gym was located and also had a question about his bill. Instead of receiving helpful customer service, he felt dismissed. He has unfortunately become accustomed to people overlooking or talking down to him, but the way he was treated by Elizabeth stood out for the wrong reasons. While I was there today, I also overheard another employee, Sara, say that she felt intimidated by Elizabeth's conduct. Hearing that only reinforced my impression that this may be an ongoing issue rather than an isolated incident. Is Elizabeth the General Manager? If so, that's concerning. If not, I hope ownership is made aware of how guests and employees are being treated. Because of these experiences, my brother will be choosing a different hotel for future visits to Pierre. read more

This place was dirty and the staff has a problem with lying to customers. I got called the morning of check in and was told that the room I reserved back in Feb was not available. When we arrived, I asked for a manger and she was a very unprofessional teenager. I asked who called me and screwed up my reservation? She replied with her employee did. I explained and she tells me that I registered through a third party which was false. I showed the email and she stuck to her lie. I pulled up the email I received and WTF it was her name... then she goes on to tell me that they do not have any of the rooms I want available. I then asked about other rooms and she all of a sudden had a king room available. So these king rooms were all booked up and the suites were booked when the org I was there for started. Hmmm that org started in 1892, really. We finally get to our room, dark and dingy. The blinds were broke and would not move. The door would not close without a little maintenance. The ac well that didn't work either. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. We attended the conference and let me just say, a steak should not be cooked to resemble leather. Checking out went easy but caught the teenage manager in anther lie. The worked at the desk makes the comment of "I see you registered on our website" hmmm. The room was clean enough, however we wouldn't stay here again if able to find another place. The toilet had a dirty streak down the side of it, shower handle had rust, walls in the shower had some cracks and peeling paint. We booked our room through a third party app & were told our stay was all paid for, but when we went to check out there was an additional fee charged to us. Upon inquiring at the front desk they informed us that they charge that extra fee to everyone. This was not disclosed during booking. The TV in the room didn't work & there was hardly any toilet paper. The hotel staff did remedy both of those issues. A continental breakfast was offered, however, they closed it an hour before the posted time. On a positive note, the hotel had just undergone renovations so the rooms looked nice & updated. read more

Mixed review. The hotel was super nice and updated. The room was what you wanted. Two double beds. Spent several evenings at the bar. Good food and drinks. The bad: over the weekend the rooms were not made up. After 2 days of this, I called the front desk and they told me me "they don't offer that service". I heard several people discussing the same issue. Everyone needed towels, washcloths, coffee, etc.... Then when it came to checkout I was surprised with the bill. When I made my reservations, I asked for a military or sportsman discount. I was told that it would be $140 a night. When I got the the bill, they charged me $169 for two nights and $189 for the third night plus an extra $20 a night for various taxes. When I told them about making the reservations weeks before for $140, they said they didn't know who told me that and that was the sportsman discount and that is what I would pay. I can get online right now and make reservations for $108 a night. Check it out. So it appears to me the hotel scammed me out of more than a hundred dollars. So beware if you stay here. Make sure you ask them at check-in what your rate is going to be. Feel duped. But just think of this. They charge you $200 a night and don't off cleaning services over the weekend? Ridiculous!! read more

We stayed here with an infant in tow. There is NO elevator, and no help to carry large loads of luggage. The room was dirty, including an old sunflower seed on the bathroom vanity, and a fingernail clipping on the bathroom floor. Disappointing stay, would not recommend. read more

Stayed one night en route to Badlands National Park. Pierre is a bit off the interstate but a better choice than staying at a typical highway motel/Hotel off the highway. Worth the drive. City of Pierre is a nice Midwestern town with a cowboy feel. Hotel is a nice large conference center. Nice pool area. Small gym that does the trick. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Front desk staff was very appreciative of our business especially since it appears that business has been slow due to Covid. read more

Our room was clean and obviously remodeled. Bed was comfortable. The room was a little dark even with lights on. The bath was nice but the counter was very low. The overall property is huge. No free breakfast but a discount coupon if you eat breakfast in the restaurant. The breakfast we ordered was very good. read more

Stayed here for a week for work. Check in was simple and quick. The room is decent sized and has a fridge and microwave. Two doors - one to the hall and the other to the parking lot. Odd, but I actually enjoyed not having to walk through the hotel carrying stuff. The air conditioner wasn't too loud and kept the room nice and cool. Unfortunately there were a lot of other issues. One morning I had no warm water. I'm not talking about not getting hot, I mean, not even warm. Another time I noticed that my outside door happened to be a staff area to take a break and smoke. Like literally against my door. The hotel went to a new server for the room keys, so one day my keys didn't work, and then another day there was a power outage so I had to get them redone again. The wireless was hit and miss, and then on my final night just didn't work at all. The ice machine didn't work and neither did the vending machine on my floor. Just too many missed opportunities for me to recommend based on this trip. read more

We came to Pierre for just one night. We needed a bed and a shower. We weren't going to be in the room long so we grabbed a room for 75$ by the river. As we got in, we noticed how dark and in need of a facelift this place was. We checked in and then drove around the place to get in our room. We left and came back late. As soon as we hit the pillow(s) we heard the AC make super loud noises. The pillows are small and square so now my neck is in pain. We got up to shower and found two towels in the bathroom. (And a used one hanging on the door). If i have to come back to Pierre, I'll try the other hotels. But, this place has a great price! read more

Reviews are on target for this place. At one time it was probably a decent 3 star place for the money. Now tired and worn. Maybe it was a Ramada inn at one time but fell below those standards. Special shout out to the lame guy who checked me in at 11:30 pm. Took way too long to check in.... he struggled with the system. He then gave me a room on the second floor which normally would not be a problem. However, I was on the road for a full week and had a roller bag, a backpack, and a bag of work equipment. When I asked about an elevator he silently shook his head..... I said "ok, thanks" and walked away. He never said another word. It's a step above a Super 8. It was probably a very nice place at one point, but really could use a remodel. I stayed in a corner room with jacuzzi tub. It was spacious, with lots of windows - but no view. Clean and reasonably comfortable, but as mentioned, really showed it's age. My biggest pet peeve was the bathroom vanity, it was down to just above my knees! I'm 5'9", so not tall. Seemed too low to even be handicapped accessible, I know no power chair would fit. read more

The hotel is in a good location but is badly in need of updates and remodeling. Carpets are worn and frayed, furniture is outdated and bathroom needs to be modernized. There were two doors to my room; one through the hotel lobby and one off the parking lot. The door off the hotel lobby would not open with the card key. There was a lot of dog poop in the back door area from prior guests and the trash bin was overflowing since it had not been emptied. They don't seem to maintain the property very well. The hotel breakfast area is fair. They offer $3.00 the breakfast menu for guests but the service is very slow each of the 3 morning I was there. They allow pets, which is nice. There are nicer hotels in town. read more

We are staying here this weekend and for the first time ever staying in a hotel they actually have no towels in our room. We went and asked for towels to shower in the morning and they said that they would put us on a waiting list. They where thinking we would have clean towels by 8am, maybe I'm being inconsiderate but this is a simple request when it comes to paying someone for lodging. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. Staff completely incompetent, we tried three times to phone in a reservation, they were "too busy" to help. We used the online system, never received a reply. Finally got someone on the phone only to learn we had no room. Booked it then. The room smelled awful, the trash had not been emptied from the previous occupants, there was black hair on the bathroom floor. The bathroom door would not close unless the toilet seat was up. It did look like the bed had been changed. We asked, but no other rooms were available. Additional amenities included the Burlington Northern rumbling by at 4:00 am and the parking lot filled with hunting dogs in open trailers. Priceline customers beware!!! They consider this a three star hotel and if you are looking in the area this is the one you will get!!!!! It's not even worthy of one star. Staff is nice but this place is terrible!!!! If the lights in the rooms happen to work, don't stand under them long because they are falling out of he ceiling. Wallpaper is falling off the walls, water stained ceilings, various cracked tiles and other stains of unknown etiology. If you want to book a cheap crappy hotel, don't even pick this one. And do NOT Priceline his area. read more
