The park has many permanent residents, spots for long-term stays like ours, and several pull-thrus for overnighters. Not easy to get a reservation but well worth it if you can. Price is very reasonable. The park is kept very clean, laundry facilities are wonderful and not too expensive ($1.25 per load washer and dryer), and there is a sweet little stream running through the park sided by a large grassy area that was wonderful for our dog to run and play. No one objected to him being off leash there, but he comes when he's called, so I'm not sure how people would react to a dog that isn't under control. There were some ducks in the stream and a little bridge that crosses it. We felt very safe here and had quiet neighbors. There was noise from Trosper Road, but not more than the usual two-lane road, and certainly better than freeway noise would be in some of the other parks. Fred Meyer, UPS/fax store, Albertson's, Wal-Mart, and Costco nearby, also gas and coffee shops and other smaller stores. We would love to have found a house in this area. Would definitely recommend this place for short- or long-term stays.

We were in room 25, with a gorgeous view of the Sound. We had two queens (haha, so very appropriate...!). The mattresses seemed new and were comfortable. The room was clean, the sheets fresh, the kitchen area clean and stocked with Keurig cups (well, that's a bit of a downer, but not their fault). The room was very nicely decorated with all kinds of quirky prints and hangings, making the room cheerful and fun. The TV was quite large (55" ?). The halls and other common areas were clean and well decorated, again cheerful and fun. The grounds include a parking area for RV's which was well organized, neat and tidy, with a couple green areas and some cabins on the North side, but that wasn't the main event... ! They have a very pretty little stream that even had a few flowers when we visited and which empties into the sound, where the estuarial mix of fresh and salt waters attracts birds (and fish? need to find out!). They have a small pebble beach with steps leading down where they said it is fine to launch a kayak or two! To the South there is a power plant outlet! My excitement might puzzle those of you who don't fish in Winter, but not only is it deep and fast running, but may be warm enough to attract fish. It, like everything else we saw about the waters, appeared clean and free of trash, as one might typically see nearby RV camping. And..., There are some lovely businesses nearby at HoodCanal. We had coffee there at a very nice little shop (HoodCanal Coffee, who'd have thunk it?) and then ventured next door to the little wine shop, which was FULL of curios, art, and so many lovely little things. The proprietress was wonderfully chatty and really helped fill us in on the area. And that leads us to the people... ! The nice lady running the hotel was out of the office (pro tip: there is a call button to the right of the office door that pages her, so just tap that), but popped up quickly. She was very friendly and, when we ran out of coffee creamer, which we mentioned in passing in the hall, she told me not to bother coming down the stairs to the office and that she would bring it right up, which she did. She also had more information on the local area that was very helpful. We were very pleasantly surprised and will certainly be back... with kayak(s)!

Our sight was a bit narrow, but there was a row of trees on each side of our site, so we had privacy. The park is kept clean. They had an issue with Canadian geese (way too many!) that would wander through the sites, settle, and make themselves quite at home. But I noticed staff driving through with a water truck cleaning up after the geese. A long-term resident told me that they were working with the state wildlife officials to relocate the geese. I loved the walking trail that surrounds the park. Very pleasant, with just enough challenge to make it fun. Also loved that the park is quiet, not much road noise at all. Would definitely stay here again. But note, this park is often full, so make reservations way in advance of your stay.

Swimming around and walking in the water to find good oysters was a fun and new experience. When we went, it was pretty packed in the Summer time, so plan to see a few groups of people doing the same kind of thing near you. They will be swimming nearby, walking and digging up oysters by the dock as well. Didn't go hiking at the Park, so this review is mainly for visiting the beach and dock area, which I would recommend for everyone. Maybe go on a hot day to take advantage of the water? Check the tide schedule for the water level in order to get oysters, if that's on your to-do list, too. Overall, we had a good ol' time!

There's also a little amphitheater area made of tree stumps and wooden benches with a wooden stage. I think you have a reserve that area if you wanna use it, though. You can tell how much the owners care about each person's stay by the attention to those fine details such as the high-tech dog wash, excellent bathhouse, the flowers, the bird feeders, and houses throughout. The camp hosts are all wonderful you can tell they want each person to enjoy their stay and go above and beyond.
