DR MEHTA TRIED TO CHARGE US AN EXTRA $500 for Treatments Insurance Considers Unnecessary!…read more We're covered by Blue Cross Dental Insurance. Dr Mehta's treatment plan included, as expected, a cost of $204 to extract four wisdom teeth. But then we noticed an unexpected upcharges adding an extra $500! -- $25 EXTRA for an ice pack (not billable to insurance) -- $300 EXTRA for "Exparel sustanied release theraputic drug" (not billable to insurance) -- $175 EXTRA for "multiple administrations of antibiotics, steroids, anti-inflammatory" (also not billable to insurance) Since Blue Cross never mentioned these charges, we called them back and were told that these were optional, not-medically-necessary charges added by Mosaic! We called back Mosaic and their front office voluntarily removed the unnecessary $25 ice pack and $300 unspecified drugs; but they refused to remove the $175 upcharge! Finally, we got the support staff, whom we found arrogant and unpleasant to deal with, to ask the doctor, who finally admitted that the $175 was optional. Insurance tightly restricts what they can charge for insurance-covered items. But for non-insurance items they can charge whatever they think they can get away with. ChatGPT estimates the doctor's cost of the generic medications in the $175 thing at $10. And we all know how much an ice pack costs on Amazon. What do you think Mosaic's intent is here? If not for our unusual alertness, MOSAIC WOULD HAVE CHARGED US $500 NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE that we would have had to have paid out of our own pocket! MOSAIC REFUSED TO USE JUST PROPOFOL As explained at website "VERSED BUSTERS", many people consider Versed/Midazolam an unnecessary or even harmful drug. In all my years of authorizing surgical procedures for family members, no doctor has ever refused to put a family member under using just propofol. Dr. Mehta is the only medical professional I have ever encountered who refused to do so. IT WAS EASY TO FIND A NEARBY PRACTICE THAT DIDN'T TRY TO UPCHARGE US AND WHO NEVER USES VERSED. We found a nearby practice at 10601 Seminole Boulevard in Largo who didn't attempt the upcharges and didn't require the use of a drug (Versed) other medical professionals routinely skip.

Dr. Beata Carlson is my regular dentist and I've always felt incredibly cared for at this office, so even though this was a last-minute emergency visit and she was unavailable, I trusted I'd be in good hands. Dr. Luo saw me and found a hairline fracture, so I now have a temporary crown while my permanent one is being made. But what really stood out to me was his bedside manner. He was calm, confident, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely at ease through the whole process. I also noticed how respectfully he interacted with the dental assistant. You could genuinely feel the teamwork and how much they both cared about me and my dental health. I actually told him afterward how much I appreciated the experience. My other issue is that they were late getting my last set of aligners before I moved to another state and then they refused to send them to me or even let me know that I could have gotten my Invisilign treatment transferred to an Otho in the state that I moved to get my aligners. Poor communication; can't keep to their own time lines, and refusing to send items for which I paid thousands of dollars.

Upon telling the tech of my situation, she had me put in my new retainer and remove it twice which induced severe jaw pain. She then left and the front desk staff started cranking loud music causing my ear drums to feel like they were bleeding. The pain was too much for me so I left the office filled with loud music and went to my car where the doctor then put his body blocking my car from leaving the parking lot demanding I give back MY retainer. I believe this doctor crossed the line by using his body to keep my car trapped in my parking spot. He wouldn't back away from my vehicle until I told him I was going to post a google review of my experience. Only then did he back up.

When I came home to Florida, none of my usual dentists wanted my case. My GP recommended I see Dr Mehta. Now, I live in St Pete, so Palm Harbor is a bit far, but Dr Mehta worked with me for a month on a series of temporaries before casting a softer gold crown, which I've now had for two years. So my loyalty was certainly earned, but honestly the hygienists here also just do a great job for regular checkups and cleanings. Even without bleaching my teeth always look much whiter after a cleaning here than from anywhere else. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a highly skilled and trustworthy dental practice.
