Does wisdom teeth removal scare you so deeply that you've avoided it for years? Are you now in your late 20's with impacted wisdom teeth and are TERRIFIED?? This is the review for you- here we go. Strap in. TLDR- this place is incredible. Just book the appointment. When I tell you this disturbed me to my core- I cannot even express how terrified I was of this procedure. Avoided it for years, told myself I would be fine ect. I cried in the parking lot before my consultation I was so deeply afraid. I suffer from severe anxiety and was embarrassed to be so afraid of a simple and common procedure. Dr. Yuan and his team went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. From the cozy office, to the happy and kind staff, to the quality care- I was blown away. Dr. Yuan took his time to explain to me in depth why he felt this procedure was necessary. We discussed options, X-rays, newer science based practices ect. I left the consult feeling so much better. Fast forward to 12 hours pre procedure. Dr. Yuan prescribed an anti anxiety medication that made me feel calm, peaceful and sleepy. I slept all night, woke up feeling a little squirrelly and took the other prescribed anti anxiety pill (I had a script for just 2 pills.) He also prescribed amoxicillin to take prior to the surgery to prevent infection. I showed up to the office already pleasantly "buzzed" if you will- relaxed and happy from the prescribed medication. When I approached the front desk they handed me a smoothie menu to choose a smoothie of my choice for post op. (Like- is this place even real!?!) They got me in immediately. Familiar staff prepped me while talking to me calmly and making it as light hearted as possible. Before I knew it it was lights out, and I don't remember much after that. I vaguely remember 3-5 seconds of discomfort (discomfort- not pain!) at the very end met by soothing words and I think someone petting my head. I'm guessing this is how I was woken up. It felt like family level care, like how they would treat a loved one. Before waking, I was given exparel injections which are a slow release local anesthetic. I was worried this would totally numb my face- but that's not how this medication operates. You don't feel numb but you have 0 pain. 9 hours post and hadn't to take a pain killer yet. 12 hours post op, I took ibuprofen. These injections are a litttttttle pricy- but for me, comfort has no price tag. As mentioned waking up was foggy. I remember crying and I think I told the staff I loved them. I will recommend this office to everyone I know- I had no idea dental care could be so gentle. Dr.Yuan and his staff care- and that's deeply evident. I am forever grateful. If you are afraid- that's okay! But know this will be a quick, painless, peaceful experience. From one anxious human to another- breathe deeply and make the phone call. You got this. read more

I just returned from major oral sugery! Last night I had 3 anxiety attacks relieved by "medical" and secure until I got into my chair for about 3 hours. That's when the angel nurse asked what music I wanted. They had been playing Classic 70s Pop. Had it included a heavier rock line, I could have tolerated it. I blurted out Joe Bonamassa accoustic at Carnegie Hall. Dr Yuan searched and found it! I thought I heard it start and surrendered to my sedation. After everything was finished it was a blur! I was prepped with an Rx with bacteria mouthwash, two painkillers, and an antibiotic. I went home in minimal discomfort. After two days, I was shocked that I was healing so fast. Dr. Yuan asked me to leave feedback, so here goes: the clinical care is excellent. The patient experience is a positive one. This clinic could do much better in terms of communication with patients. For example, I recommend complete after-surgery instructions (for how long do I use the antiseptic mouthwash? For how long do I use salt-water rinses?) The practice could do better when patients call in with questions. I found that I was continually interrupted and never had the feeling that the person answering the call had any interest in allowing me to express my concerns. My other concern with this practice is that they are salespeople as much as clinicians. The DDS refused to answer any questions about cost and left that for someone in the office--the Closer, I guess. Started off with an $8000 or $9000 estimate for a simple extraction. The estimate included general anesthesia and a dental implant. After learning the cost of the implant, I made it clear I would use my general DDS for a crown and bridge. I *still* got the sales pitch from the surgeon. I like my dentist's old-fashioned approach: if I ask him a question, he gives me an answer. Not a bunch of sales crap. But let me repeat: the clinical care is excellent. Just wish it were more straightforward and patient-directed. read more

I had my wisdom teeth taken out today and have high anxiety about the dentist and needles. The staff was very understanding and informative about everything.
