Rather surprised by all the mixed reviews here. I'm fortunate not to need much in the way of hard core dental work. I have used numerous different services, teeth whitening, snore guard, and some cosmetic work to my front teeth. Of course, Dr Rubinchik is my regular dentist and I come in for cleanings every six months. The dental hygienists do a good job and everybody has always treated me well and seem friendly. Recently, my mom was visiting from out of town and she need emergency work on her front tooth. Not only did Dr. Rubinchik call me back promptly on a Sunday and discussed with my Mom her situation, but he came in early to see her first thing Monday morning and get her what she needed. Seems like dentist these day are all about getting you in and out and I have never felt that way at the office. When you find somebody who truly cares about patients, that's a solid 5 stars in my book. read more

Mr Dale it's a big time jerk, and his staff are very rude and not friendly at all. I'm actually suing him and taking him to small claims he has refused to give me back my copay money back, he broke one off my tooth on a very poor cleaning job, and there office staff are very entitled and think they owe the place... This practice was bought and my husband and I both had very strange experiences with the new staff and have since switched. My appointment was very chaotic. The woman doing my xrays didn't seem to be familiar with the process. The freelance dentist that I saw also was the one to clean my teeth and asked strange questions of the assistant about how they did things in the office. Neither wanted to say too much about the sale of the practice. The freelance dentist said based on the xrays that I needed 3 fillings urgently. I did not schedule the appointment because of my strange experience and instead scheduled a cleaning with a friend's dentist. It's now 6 months later and my new dentist said she doesn't see any cavities and that the xrays are so blurry they are not usable for diagnostic purposes. For my husband they recommended that he get 2 gum grafts at once and then another 2 shortly thereafter. Our new dentist says that no periodontist they are familiar with would recommend more than 1 in a year so they can see how it goes and let the patient recover. The new dentist's periodontist said that he could wait on doing anything for his gums. To boot, they kept bugging me about a bill that I had already paid. I'd made the check to the retired dentist's name b/c that's still where the emails and I think invoices come from but had to find it in my records to prove payment. If you choose to go here, consider a 2nd opinion before agreeing to any recommended treatment. read more

Retired. Dale Rubinchik and Jay Cohen retired and sold their business to Dr. Firouzi towards the end of 2023. I'd been seeing Cohen and Rubinchik for about 13 years. 4 stars. Nothing particularly bad or amazing about them. When switching from the dentist I had before them, or to the dentist I have now, there are differences, but it's hard to know if one dentist was under-treating me, or another dentist was over-treating me, or if merely changing dentists got me out of a rut regarding treatment plans. I may eventually put a review for Dr. Firouzi's team under Redwood City Dentistry's yelp page after transition issues get ironed out, if she keeps the name/website. read more

I have been going to this dentist since I was a little kid and honeslty the reason I have still kept Rubinchek as my dentist is out of practicality. Its really close to my house and Ive been a patient for 10+ years. I have finally decided to search for another dentist, half of the reason is that the office staff here is rude. When you call to inquire about a procedure they make it seem as though they are bored out of their minds or that you are making their life inconvenient. The other half is that Rubinchek is great skill-wise but his sales-man type of personality gets old. Time to move on. read more

I didnt have the greatest experience here, but its a dentist so I guess that is expected. Went in for a deep cleaning and to get some cavities filled (haddnt been to the dentist in many years). I had to go two separate times (2 separate times of pain and hell). The dentist filled my cavities and removed all my plaque fine and when it was finally over they told me to come back in 6 months for a regular cleaning. So I came back for my regular cleaning, and the hygienist started but then said 'you know what, you need a deep cleaning' I was very upset and left, and did not return. I am aware that I have deep gum pockets and periodontal disease and did the best I could in home care, but if this was known then they should have had me come back sooner than 6 months. Now I'm scared to go anywhere so hopefully I can find a good one on here from the yelpers. read more

I was in dire need of a new denist when the filling fell off of my front tooth. My original dentist, who had put it on about five years previously, had done some things that had bummed me out and I was no longer willing to go back. The other dentist I had tried out a few times in the past year couldn't fit me in for two weeks and I didn't want to walk around with a gaping hole in my mouth for that long (a friend told me that I probably shouldn't leave the house looking like I did). My neighbor recommended Drs. Rubinchik and some other yelp reviews had liked Dr. Dubinchik's partner, Dr. Jay Cohen. They made a next day appointment for me. I was pleasantly surprised to see how nice the office was. Newly redone. They have flat screen t.v.'s at each dental chair to distract nervous patients. The waiting room was packed (a good sign), but I wasn't made to wait long. Dr. Rubinchik convinced me that I really needed a crown to replace the filling so it wouldn't keep falling off every five years and force me to go through the trauma so often. A crown can last 20 years. He was very good with the novocaine. I was injected and numb before I even saw the needle going in me mouth. That gives me confidence as it used to take my previous dentist several stabs to find the nerve to numb me out. He called the guy from the lab to come down and personally look at the color of my teeth to ensure a proper match with the crown. Unfortunately, when the crown came back, the color was off. Dr. Rubinchik again had the lab guy drive over to look at my mouth to get the color right. When the second attempt came back from the lab, it was a pretty darn good match. I am satisfied, which is hard to do since a can be a bit perfectionistic. My one comment is that Dr. Rubinchik is a man of few words. I would prefer more communication as to what he is doing and explaining more about his thought processes. However, he seems to be a very experienced and proficient dentist and ultimately that is what is important in his field. The nice office and modern equipment is a further plus. read more

Dr. Rubinchik was very friendly, comforting, fast and amazingly my procedure was painless. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to tolerate my procedure due to my high anxiety. I am an absolute CHICKEN when it comes to the Dentist. Due to that I tend to not go very often. When I went to see Dale Rubinchick for the first time, I was *AMAZED* at how kind and compassionate they were with me. No one shamed me for not going to the dentist more. While getting the work done he would stop and ask me if I was okay, tell me how good I was doing and how much longer it would be. I will NEVER EVER go to another Dentist!! So I have been contacted by private message by Dr. R. saying that things have changed and if I would re-evaluate them on my review. Well, I can't really do that because I stopped going to them over a year ago. And I have no intention of going back because the Superior care & attention that both my husband & I have been getting at Prima Dental Care down the street from Dr. Ho has been outstanding. I have actually never felt so relaxed at a dentist office and the front office at Prima Dental treat you like family... So Dr. R says they have changed the front desk staff- maybe so and maybe they are much better than when I went there. I can't say from experience. My previous review stated that I felt Dr. R and his partner were competent dentists & I still believe that to some degree, but now that I have another dentist in RWC for comparison- there is no comparison...so my initial 3 star rating was because the front office staff deserved 1-2 and the dentists maybe 4-5. I would still remain at a total 3 star rating now. Why? Well even if the staff/front desk has changed and is so much better (let's just say that & give them a 5 for front desk), given my new experiences with my new dentist who is certainly a 5 without a doubt, makes me re-think and re-evaluate Dr. R & his partner as a 3. Why not a 4 total then? Well, because the bottom line when reviewing a dental office is that you want your teeth to be treated with the best care and attention as first priority! And leaving in pain each & every time is not normal for a visit to the dentist - that was my true experience and at the time I thought it was just me and my dental phobia, but not the case now that I go to a dental office who really shows that they care and takes the time to treat you well. I also find it interesting that there is another 'business' on Yelp with both dentists listed and all the reviews are 5 star...that sends off a warning in my head that the reviews may or may not be so truthful. read more

I like Dr Rubinchik. I've been going to him for nearly 15 years. I also have pretty bad teeth, so I've had more than my share of fillings and crowns. I even got my teeth whitened there. I am a new patient to this office and to start out, the front receptionist is a little bitchy! I got very sick and tried to cancel my appointmant and they told told me they had to check if that's ok with the Dr. WHAT???? Is it oK with the Dr. that Im sick and cant even drive myself to the DR. are you kidding me, do you really think that The Dr. wants to be working in my mouth when I have some weird flu that's highly contageous..... I think not! And then they think they are going to charge me $100 to cancel....bull! I moved to the area a short time ago. I really hoped, when I asked a friend about who they used for their dentist, that they would say something positive, but they only told me the location on Woodside Road next to Safeway. Ironically, their office sent me some "coupons" in the mail prior to making the appointment. My initial concern was that they added numerous conditions once I called, that we're in no way alluded to in the coupon for first time customers (I chose not to use the word "patients"). They also wanted me to make multiple appointments for cleaning and for exam and X-rays. When I asked the receptionist if we could schedule these together, because I could not afford to make two trips from work since I am in a position of responsibility. The receptionist said I was asking her to go against office policy. I also asked if she would ask the Dr. Cohen or Rubinchik if this was possible. She said I would risk her job if she asked, and I was putting her in the middle ( which I believed, was her job). She then hung up on me after I told her that too was not mentioned in the coupon. They also had a big sign that advertised a special that included exam and X-rays, for even less than the coupon when I decided to go in in person, since it was in my way home and only a short distance from my house in Woodside.. When I did make an appointment, the receptionist said that they couldn't find it and that I could reschedule again. I also didn't like that any walk up on the street got a better price for the two procedures, than someone they solicited at their home and made the effort to fight with their staff to get an appointment, or rather a series of appointments. They also said that the cleaning they did ,may not be what I need and I would have to make an appointment to find out what the cost of that "special cleaning" would cost and they would decide if I qualify for the cleaning in the coupon. After speaking again to my friend about it. She said she was about to go to a new dentist that her boss recommended to her. She had been using both dentists at this office prior to that, and she had her own horror stories. I learned the hard way, but since then,. I can recommend a dentist that cares, and will not play bait and switch with you. I also never have to speak to their rediculous staff again. I just felt that if they made me work this hard to see them for the first time, how well would they treat me if I was just another patient. I ended up canceling the appointment when I found that my firends new dentist was truly a much better alternative very close by, and they actually seemed to want me as a patient. Not very gental with children. Bad experience with my youngest. My youngest would not sit still for a filling and he would hold her head down and almost be screeming at my 7 year old. My husband and I decided to visit our local dentist. From the time we walked in on separate visits we were not greated nicely. No smile no hello, no warmth. My husband received an estimate for service and decided to schedule service. During treatment for cleaning and dental repair we were treated coldly as if routine without warmth or nice customer service. We each left feeling uninspired to return and decided to seek another dentist office who portrays warm caring customer service. Then we received a large bill for $600+ which did not match the estimate we received. I called the office to iron out the bill but was treated rudely by the Corin billing staff member who would not listen, interrupted me and gave a general behavior she could care less and even hung up on me. I called back thinking the hang up was an accident, but she knew she hung up without any appoligies. I never got to iron out the $600+ bill we received. So I visited Dr. Rubinchik in person hoping he would appologize for the mistreatment and take time to go over the bill. However, he did not appologize just said what can he do? Any differences and mistreatment is between me and Corin. Obviously uninterested in how I was mistreated I can see why his staff is cold and unprofessional. This attitude is trickled down from the owner. With all the mistreatment and unpolished customer service, mishandling of invoice and abilities to treat customers with respect, I would recommend keeping clear of this dental office. They obviously do not value customers, only their money. Visiting Dr. Rubinchik's office was an experience of being beaten, battered and abused. I've had to contact the Better Business Bureau with help to iron out the invoice since the office is not helpful and abusive. Our precious time and energy has been spent unfortunately in a negative experience dealing with this office. Keep away from Rubinchik's dental office. read more

I found Dr Rubinchik via Yelp, and am very happy to have made the discovery. I broke a front tooth over the Christmas holiday, and my dentist was away for several days. I contacted Dr. Rubinchik and was very pleased with the efficiency of his office. He is a very likable person who comes out to the waiting room to invite you back to his very modern dental facility. Everything is on time which is a nice touch compared to other places. The work is done quickly and with very little pain. He answered my many calls with probably inane questions, and made me feel very comfortable. My new front tooth looks better than the original, and the cost was very reasonable. I was super nervous when I got there and the front office staff was really nice. I've been seeing Dr. Rubinchik for at least 15 years. I dislike very much going to the dentist. I have to bribe myself to go, telling myself I can get a sugary coffee drink at the drive-thru across the street (albeit the reason for the need to see the dentist.) I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I've found Dr. R to be sincere and caring, giving me explanations of what he is doing and going to do. The office, specifically the dental room, is really calming. Dr. R took care in the wall paper he used and didn't just throw up some posters of big teeth.. I do remember staff at front desk were rude, but that was a while ago and it seems like there are new people in front. Dr. R's assistant is pleasant as well, greeted me with a smile. I really like my hygenist. I've rotated hygenists quite a bit at the office. I never seem to get the same person twice. But I did get my last hygenist twice and I hope to see her at my next appt. I remember she took care with cleaning each tooth. I don't remember her name but she's Asian, maybe Vietnamese or Cambodian. She also gave me some very helpful tips. read more

I have not had a great experience w/ this office. They screwed up a filling I had, tried to implant a porcelain piece that didn't stay in, and then ended up telling me I needed a crown. The hygienist actually admitted to me that she "wasn't surprised" that the porcelain didn't work b/c they didn't have much experience doing them (it's basically a little more than a regular filling but not an entire crown). I am now in the process of trying to find a dentist I can trust. I would not recommend Dr. Ruminchik or his office. read more

I have been a client at this dental office for the past few years and I love it! Ive never had an issue getting an appointment that was at a convenient time for me (first thing in the morning), the office is always quiet, clean, and well staffed. The front desk staff are always pleasant and helpful. I have gotten the "you don't floss everyday" scolding on occasion from the dental hygienists, but it's really nothing more than an encouraging nudge. Granted, I have pretty good dental hygiene (never had cavities, fillings, crowns, etc) so I can't comment on any advanced dental procedures but I can say that its an excellent place for routine maintenance and Dr. Cohen is awesome and always willing to answer any questions you have! They also don't try to talk you into have any unnecessary extras or procedures, in my experience, and their equipment is always state-of-the-art. My husband has had cleanings, a crown replaced and teeth whitening here and he was also pleased with his results. I saw the orthodontist there recently who fixed my old retainer and gave me some advice on how to improve my alignment without having braces again. I also frequented this dental office when I was a med student, before I had dental insurance and their cash pricing is pretty affordable. read more

If I could give this office a negative 5 rating, I would. And that's just for the receptionist. I never saw the doctor(s) to possibly redeem this rating. I never got past the surly receptionist. And that's putting it kindly. I made an appointment as a new patient for an exam and a cleaning at which time I was told they do the exam and x-rays first, then I would have to make another appointment for the cleaning. A little odd I thought, but okay, I'll go with it. I then had to cancel the appointment due to a funeral that I found about late the night before my appointment. I called at 7am and the answering service told me the receptionist didn't get in until 9 am and took a message. Shortly after 9am the receptionist called me back and I explained to her I had to attend the funeral of a friend that I was just made aware of the night before. She proceeded to reprimand me by telling me I wasn't giving them nearly enough notice. No compassion whatsoever. Against my better judgment, I rescheduled the appointment. At this point I should have reviewed them on Yahoo! and Yelp because I'm sure I would have canceled the new appointment. Fast forward two weeks: I arrive at the office 5 minutes early, figuring I had some paper work to fill out. The receptionist was on the phone, so I signed in and sat down. She got off the phone, but never said a word to me. Not. one. word. Another patient came in and they talked about various topics that had nothing to do with the office or appointments. And still I sat, being completely ignored. Now, I guess I could have walked back up to the front desk and said "Hey, don't I need to fill something out?" But I am the "customer". I am paying for a service, so I expect good customer service skills and professionalism from the people I am giving my business to. I waited for 25 minutes and finally just walked out. I never filled out any paperwork, never saw the doctor nor did I receive any phone call as to why I walked out. I expect to wait when I go see a doctor. That's just the way it is. My complaint doesn't lie with the wait, it's that fact that I was invisible in that office. I have worked for doctors and in the customer service industry. I don't think my expectations of being greeted when I walk into a business are unrealistic. My advice? If you don't have the skills to deal with the public, go find a job that suits you better. In general, I don't like going to the Dentist. From an early age my experience with dentists has been very traumatic. So I stopped going. I waited until I could not chew anymore, I had to do something. I found the courage one day to stop by at the dental office in the corner of my house and I prayed. He showed me the X-ray and gave me the bad news: two root canals, one filling and three crowns later I'm done. The process was expedient ; He put me at ease from the very start. He inspired confidence just the way I watched him work. I had complete trust in his abilities as he's been practicing for more than 30 years. He talked to me to distract me, and the atmosphere in the room was very pleasant : he played music sometimes and had beautiful scenes playing on a screen. First time ever I was not afraid to go to the dentist. read more

He left me with two black eyes after trying to remove a tooth for 2+ hours that he initially said would be "out in a flash". He gave up and made me drive across town with a bleeding mouth to a specialist that had to cut my jaw with a saw to remove a tooth that ultimately didn't need to be removed. My mouth and jaw have never been the same. Cracking, popping and intense pain in the morning are just a few of the symptoms this hack has left me with. He deserves to be sued for malpractice imo. read more
