I bought this deal on Groupon for 2 golfers, 2 lbs of wings or 2 hotdogs, golf cart for I believe…read more$75, with the additional Groupon promo code, came closer to $60. It's a great deal and it was fun to spend on a non-raining Sunday, we started at 3pm. I got my first lucky birdie here! Wings and the hot dog were great, no complaints. I'm a beginner and there are three tee boxes, if you're playing with someone who uses the furthest tee box, it's quite a distance away and sometimes harder to find so would recommend to use a golf cart to navigate. There are opportunities to lose a ball here and there and the course could benefit with a course marshall to move things along as we were a bit backed up with a noobie groups ahead of us who played quite slow. The course has a lot of flies this time of the year (mid September) so close your mouth and your eyes if you're not driving and watch where you sit in case you squash any flies. We called in the beginning of the 9th hole to order our food to eat it right after the hole near the clubhouse but still had to wait a while to get our food, so would call a hole before to ensure no wait time when it's busy. There's also a driving range and putting area to practice before hand. Though mats are quite beaten up and no where to really Tee up for where I was practicing.

The only thing that made this deal worth my money was the wings. 17 out of 18 holes were par 3s, with the second last hole a par 4 - Nobody needed to use their drivers. I don't think carts are necessary for this course. It was really empty, which was kind of nice since nobody felt rushed by people behind us. The grass on the green was uncut and patchy/poorly maintained. The washrooms were really dirty and infested with flies.. I had to wait till we left to use the washroom at a McDonalds. We were also the only patrons at the 'restaurant' and were given two pounds of wings! I guess the waitress made a mistake, but the wings were really dry anyways. Overall, I would not come back here again even if there was a deal.

The Docks Driving Range earns its place…read moreas a neighbourhood staple precisely because it asks so little of your schedule: unpretentious, and reliably open when the impulse to swing strikes. Situated at the water's edge with the Toronto skyline framing each shot, the setting carries a quiet drama that no indoor facility can replicate. The format is refreshingly straightforward: hourly mat rentals with unlimited balls, no fuss, no complicated booking ritual. The online waitlist system is a thoughtful modern touch, and the waterfront air adds a lightness to the session that a conventional range cannot manufacture. Where the experience shows its age is in the details. The hitting mats bear the honest wear of years of use, and the pricing structure during peak hours demands a scrutiny that the facility does not always reward. Those accustomed to pristine teeing surfaces and a curated soundtrack will need to calibrate expectations accordingly. Yet for the local regular, these are minor concessions in exchange for supreme convenience. This is a course correction between meetings, a stolen hour before dinner, a go-to. And in a city where accessible outdoor practice space is a genuine scarcity, The Docks fills that gap with admirable consistency.

This place is a great escape from downtown and is right on the water. While you can see the city…read moreskyline in the background, you feel away from the city which is great and relaxing! It's quite easy to reserve or join the waitlist for the driving range online. Due to the layout of the facility, the check-in spot is a little bit confusing the first time.

GolfTec Whitby is an exceptional golf learning experience and I have so much good to say about this…read morecompany ... BUT even more to say about this particular location (GolfTec Whitby) because of who is leading it, head instructor, Steve Rodriguez. Let's put to the side for a moment that he's obviously a pro and a guy that still plays the game competitively (which isn't always the case with teaching pros). That's not the magic. Steve is patient & encouraging, etc... good, but not magic. The #1 thing this guy does that makes GolfTec Whitby great is from the moment you meet, he puts you in a non-judgement zone so you can learn faster. Easier said than done because many of us judge ourselves. It doesn't matter your level, your good or bad shots, he's encouraging. He knows when to pull back on instruction and not put too much into your heard AND he genuinely gets excited when you really hit it; "Hello!!!" he can be heard saying... apparently he can talk to a golf ball, tell mine to stay out of the water. To say he helped me improve my swing and overall game significantly is an understatement. No... I'm not going on tour, but I hated the game I loved at times (sounds like some people's marriages). We started with a plan I didn't stick to - I didn't commit to the process. He literally pulled me aside and said, "Look, trust me on this. Don't worry about distance, don't worry about spin, I just want you to stop gripping the club so tightly. I don't want you just coming here going through the motions. If you need to take some time off, do so. But work with me here". In one lesson he even had me turn off tracer path because I kept looking at how far (well not far) the ball went. That's wisdom. That's the intangible. Fast forward the 2.5 years we've been together and the results speak for themselves; I'd brag how my 8 iron now carries ~154 and goes 162 and I take a 6 iron to carry 174 and roll 190 ...but I'd have to tell you how my 8 iron used carry 120 and I would (sorry for what's coming) shank the ball. Shank ... ugh ... the stuff that would make me want to quit more than ever. It's so rare now, but if it happens, I'm like, I know why, and I know what's wrong. But here's the other thing. At least for me, golf has its ups and downs. And there are times where I literally called him up and was done with golf, and other times where I call him up excited by the round in the 70s I shot! (Relax it's from 5600 yards with my 87 year old Dad.) So I guess he's kind of like a therapist ... lol ... more the point is that he cares. He's not there to sell you what you don't need and ring every dime that us golf-addicts are willing to pay; he is there so you can enjoy the game more, go out and do what golf should really be about - having fun. Here's the deal, technology and facilities can separate the probables from the possibles when it comes to choosing a place to invest your dollars trying to learn this damn hard sport... but the true calibre of instruction rests in the hands of the people entrusted to teach it. With GolfTec Whitby and Steve R ... you're in incredible hands. Rob, the other pro, is always so courteous and never sees you without asking how you're doing. When you're there practicing (which is an essential part of my package with the camera reviews), even though he's not my coach, I can ask him a question and he's there to help, not because it's his job per se, because he wants too. Overall, I would highly recommend GolfTec Whitby, and Steve Rodriguez as an amazing instructor for anyone looking to improve their golf game. Note: Now that you read this review... understand I don't often give reviews. Why? I have a social brand in the work I do (professional speaker & author & Fortune 100 VP) and some of my 'hobby' stuff has showed up on SQAIRZ golf and Alphard golf (makers of the Club Booster e-cart) despite not being an amazing golfer. In other words... if I write it down, it represents me by brand. Make the time to invest in you game with this location... you won't be disappointed.

The staff were so accommodating and creative. All the entrées, most of the appetizers, and about half the breakfast menu can be made gluten free. Everything I had was delicious. I had GF French onion soup! Delicious! When I ordered the burrata, they cut GF bread into rounds and grilled them to simulate the crostini they'd normally serve it with. It was amazing. The bison strip loin dinner was a triumph! I also had the ribeye ragout with GF pasta, the pickerel chowder, the Caesar salad without croutons, and the poached prawns. My only note for the restaurant is to provide more GF desserts besides ice cream sundae. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I see a lot of poor reviews a few years ago. In terms of food and service a lot has changed for the better post-Covid. The comments about the decor are on point, though. The decor is a little dated but my terrace room was well appointed and very clean. I loved having the fireplace, whirlpool bathtub, and amazing view of Sturgeon Lake from my balcony. Overall a wonderful experience. I am already planning to return. :)
