I've been to a few blowout bars such as Dry Bar and Blo in Dallas but I've always felt that my experience with the stylists there are impersonal. Bear was easy to talk to and did a great job with my hair. The studio itself is decorated nicely inside and has the same fun energy of Bishops Arts district. I also appreciate that they have evening hours so I can make an appointment after work. Beware that parking on a Thursday evening was really tough! They have a shared lot with multiple businesses but it may have only had 8-10 spots. So street parking is what I was left with. I almost caved and valeted after circling the area multiple times until I saw a car backing out and got their spot.

Anyway, the first time I went was for a color refresh only, and a blow out. (My color is ridiculously easy. It's just a dark brown with ash in it. If my hair wasn't so thick and I had access to professional dye, I could do it myself.) So - first time I got it colored and no cut. It came out just fine but it was a little pricey IMO. But it was fine. Second time I went, I also scheduled a cut and style. First, the color was left in a little too long. My hair was fine but my scalp was irritated for like a week afterwards. Secondly, my haircut was alll F'd up. I didn't ask for any stylist in particular so they put me with 'The Weirdest Man on the Planet.' Ok, I thought, maybe he is artsy but honestly - I have no clue. More like an escaped prison convict. My hair was very long and I asked for about 2 inches taken off and long layers. Well he did not cut length and did not section my hair for the cut. He spent about 10 - 15 minutes putting product in my hair and moving my head around and recombing my hair over and over. Then he spent about an hour cutting extremely pointy layers in my hair. He blew it out and honestly I thought it looked good until I came home and realized the back of my head looked like someone ran a lawnmower over it. It was like an uber long feather cut mullet. I left Lure after spending over $400 and looked like I tried to cut my hair myself for free. I went to another salon to have it evened out (at least 3 inches taken off) but it's still doesn't look good. Very uneven layers. Luckily my hair WAS long so that I'm able to save it. All in all, I now have dropped over $500 on my hair and could have gone to Ulta for better results for like $100. Sorry, but I won't be back.

Danielle greeted me at the door and she couldn't have been more welcoming and friendly. The salon is simple, elegant and really pretty. Coffee, tea, wine and mimosas are offered which is a really nice perk. The best part was sitting with Danielle and talking about what I wanted to do with my hair. She really listened to me (and not just the "listen" that hairstylists typically do when in their minds they're already deciding what they want to do despite what you say). She really spent a lot of time talking to me, giving me ideas and looking at pictures with me. She came up with a great plan and gave me the exact price it would cost. That's the other bonus-there was no wondering what to expect. Usually it is wallet roulette when I go to a salon. I love my time there, I love how my hair always comes out and I appreciate the upfront pricing. I would recommend Danielle to everyone.

My first couple of visits was me learning what I wanted and how to communicate that. Initially I added some lowlights for fall and then immediately went blonder the next visit. I am happy to have Jessica to be able to guide me. Thank goodness for the professionals, amirite?! Jess is a straight up hair colorist but will hook you up with a person in the salon to get a hair cut. I have been with Arnold for cuts after Jessica works her magic. I love this salon.
