My first colonoscopy was 3yrs. ago @ DEC. Everything was fine, except for "surprise" bills for facility and anesthesia. They found and removed some benign polips, so they asked me to come back in 3 yrs. I called to schedule the appointment, only to find out my previous doctor was no longer with the practice, but they had all my records and offered a Dr. Garza. When I called to re-schedule an appointment, the automated system provides options, but none for Dr. Garza. When I finally speak with a warm body, I'm given the number for his office, and asked to call to make the change. On a Monday morning nobody answers the phone! I tried to call back, before I give up and call DEC, to speak to the warm body again. She is kind enough to message Dr. Garza office manager, who finally calls me. She explains, that the calls are routed overseas, and only after nobody there picks up, are they routed back to their office......what?? With all the confidence this experience has inspired, I cancel the appointment. Adding insult to injury, they will charge me $100 cancellation fee for cancelling a Thursday appointment on the prior Monday. Where do I bill all my wasted time??? read more

This is a new location and much better. The parking is easy and on the property so minimal walking. The inside is clean and new. Staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. For those that have been fasting there are options close by for food. Definitely like the location and service....if you need to go. read more

Super friendly staff who are great at what they do! I was very impressed by the care my family member received when they came in here for a procedure. I also loved their text-messaging process to keep us family members updated on the status of our loved one who was receiving great care from them. The steam did a great job. My only complaint was that I should have been taken up 7 but didn't get in until about 8:20. I was timely, there is no explanation come but people had arrived, and I can only assume they overbooked. Other than that, the staff was excellent. Greatly appreciate the courtesies, the professionalism, and the kindnesses extended. Big shout up to the 2 ladies at the reception area and the lady taking temperatures and COVID-19 symptom checks. One even noted that we share the same birthday and birth year. Also, Nikki (prep) and Sonia (anesthesia) did a terrific job. Last comment: Doctor Hodges is always great. read more

Having a procedure at Dallas Endoscopy Center was an excellent experience from scheduling to discharge. They checked my insurance coverage before hand so there would be no surprises. The facility is conveniently located, clean, with good parking. Nursing Staff (Kay, Wendy, etc) are professional, and warm; provide superb care, thorough explanations and answer any questions one might have. And last, but not least my physician (Dr Odom ) is a SUPER STAR! If one must have a colonoscopy (ugh!!!) then this is the place to have it and this is the team to do it. read more

Everything from checkin to discharge went extremely well. Everyone was so nice and efficient.

This place is okay. When you come in you are herded through the line like cattle to the slaughter house. Try to complete the paperwork ahead of time. As it will help speed up the process. We were not happy with the experience though because our doctor set us up with an 11:30 am appointment. Instead of calling us the day before as a reminder like every other doctors office does, they call us at 8 am in the morning OF THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE asking why we are not there yet. Of course, we told them our paperwork clearly stated 11:30. She of course didn't believe us until we got there with our paperwork and saw for a fact that the procedure arrival time as at 11:30 am as we noted. She then apologized at that point.... but only after we had to prove on our part, which I don't see why I have to prove anything. Once past all that drama, expect to get in and out within about 2 hours. The initial experience was horrible. To me this just makes me want to get another GI specialist that is not associated with this faciility. read more

Nothing but high marks for Dallas Endoscopy Center. Very efficient check in process, the front desk staff were quick to check me in after all paperwork was done and all were friendly. I was taken back before my appointment time. It was determined that I needed an endoscopy in addition to the colonoscopy that I was appointed for. Dr Jacobson arranged for that to happen while I was there and saved me from having to come back and have more anesthesia! I did not like my discharge nurse. She wasn't very nice. I was freezing w I woke up and I asked for coffee. She said they did not h any. I knew they had it in the waiting area. She told me to walk and sit in a chair and wait for my ride. I decided I would walk to the waiting area and get coffee and she stopped me and told me I could not go get the coffee because I wasn't discharged yet. I explained I wasnt leaving just going to get coffee and would be right back She again. Told me I couldn't. it was just arou the hall. read more

I had a routine colonoscopy at Dallas Endoscopy Center recently. The place is high-volume. Parking is difficult. I had a hard time waking up, while my husband drove around waiting for me to come out the door. The anesthetist had big, fake eyelashes. All went well until I got home and was unable to tinkle for several hours. The center's response to my call was to go "to the hospital." Because they knew I had complications, I sort of expected a follow-up call in a day or so to see if I lived or died. No call came. read more

The Dallas endoscopy staff were great the procedure was fine and the staff treated me very well,The billing was a completely different story I had a previous colonoscopy here 7 years ago .I was contacted telling me another was due at no time was it ever indicted to me that this procedure was diagnostic and not preventative.At check in no co pay was asked for and at no time was I ever informed that i would have to pay for the procedure, 'health care provider must inform a user of ... the costs of the diagnostic procedures before the procedure 'this is directly from The Health Professions Act and National Health Act something there office staff need to be aware of. read more

Bring your credit card. Even if you're an established patient with insurance, they want their money up front. If you have your credit card, the women at the front desk are wonderful and helpful. If you don't have your card, watch out. Their world view is that if you don't pre-pay, then you don't plan to pay at all, even with patients they know. They'll treat you like something they stepped in. And wipe you off publicly. The facility is owned by the doctors who do procedures there, so make of that what you will. The nursing staff and anesthesiologists are very kind and almost make up for the brutality at check in. Free parking and convenient location make it tempting, but it's not worth it. I'll gladly pay more to be treated better. read more

The 4 stars are due to the parking, it's a nightmare.....once you find a spot and get checked in, it's a piece of cake from there! Just beware the PathAdvantage WILL TOW your car, only park DEC parking spots. Front desk staff is on their game and quick at getting everyone checked in and seated. Once you are taken back it takes 10 mins to change clothes and get your IV and off you go. Once we entered the room for the procedure I spoke with my doctor a few mins and within maybe 20 mins I was waking up in recovery and went home within 30 mins! read more

I was there having both an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. The front staff was pleasant enough but seemed a bit gruff. The anesthesiologist Allen or Adam was arrogant, rude and full of himself. He chastised me for tensing up while he was putting in the IV, talking to me in a condescending manner and called me overweight three times (he himself is not the picture of health). But the worse thing was that both of my diamond earrings that were given to me by my brother as a Christmas present were removed from my ears after the procedure when I was in recovery. I discovered it an hour after leaving when we stopped at a restaurant to eat. When I immediately returned I was given 1 earring with the back on and told the nurse had already left for the day. I offered to look for it myself but they told me they did and would continue to look for the other; when I called a few days later they couldn't have cared less). They claimed I must have done it since they don't cough cough remove earrings, however since I still had 1 week to go on a new piercing, I would not have removed them not would I have had the hand eye coordination to do so from a laying down position under anesthesia. DO NOT GO HERE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. UPDATE. The insurance company called me unexpectedly and sent me a check for the cost of the earrings. I still wish I had the set but at least they made that right. read more

Yesterday I had a colonoscopy at this facility. As far as colonoscopies go, it was a good experience from start to finish. Every medical person that attended to me was great. I especially appreciated that they allowed me to wake up from anesthesia naturally (first time ever after all other surgeries, procedures, etc I've had at other places!). I was extremely thirsty when I woke up and they were quick to bring me a drink, without me even having to ask. I was not hurried to get up and out and Dr came in and sat down and went over the procedure results with me. The desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Oh, geez, where do I start? I was told that my insurance covered 70% of the procedure and I was responsible for the remaining 30%. I was fine with that and I arranged with the clinic to pay a certain amount on the day of surgery and gave them a credit card to which they were authorized to charge the remaining over the next 3 months. Which they did. And I thought we were done. Since then I have gotten a bill in the mail from them that says I have a remaining balance of $2600. I called the office numerous times and have spent so many hours on calls and conversations trying to resolve. We have a fundamental disagreement on what is owed. They have now turned it over to a collection agency who calls me ALL DAY EVERY DAY. I tried to explain the situation to the guy from the agency and in his defense he didn't speak very good English and he quickly became overwhelmed while I was trying to explain, but he was very polite and I give him an "A" for effort. This was an outpatient procedure that was performed on Christmas Eve. I scheduled it thinking maybe it would be less crowded on a holiday. But it was packed to the gills, They took me back to the area where you put on your gown, get into the hospital bed and wait to go to surgery. I was surrounded by patients waiting also. I am not trying to be negative, but it is humiliating to be sharing a huge room with 20 or 30 other patients in minimal amounts of clothing waiting to be brought into surgery. Then after my procedure, I was ushered into the same room with a few chairs off to one side. At which time the doctor read my test results aloud. He did the same with the patients to my left and right. This is a Colonoscopy clinic, so you should expect an anal exam. But be prepared because this is a probe that you are going to feel for a year read more

I respect and trust my doctor, but having my procedures at DEC is a HUGE drawback. The staff are disinterested at best and rude at worst - from the front desk, to the procedure room, through to discharge. No lidocaine before the IV, no numbing agent in the IV before the anesthesia was administered (as previously agreed with the CRNA), no notice that the anesthesia was being administered - and administered TOO QUICKLY, and the absolute worst I've felt waking up. I have been under anesthesia literally more times than I can count and aside from my very first experience, this was my worst. In the PACU, the nurse couldn't get me out of the door quickly enough - she didn't even review the discharge instructions with me or my ride. Were it not for the fact that this is the facility owned by the practice to which my doctor belongs - therefore the only now at which procedures are performed, I would never come back. read more

Dr Hodges was fantastic. My nurses and nurse anesthetists were great. I could not give 5 stars for 2 reasons. First, parking is a nightmare. Very few spots, and aggressive towing practices. Second, they ask you to come on an hour before your procedure and then of course are 'running late' so expect to be in the waiting room about 2 hours. Not very efficient, unfortunately. read more

The nurse violently shook me TWICE, the second time after I told her I was trying to wake up. No patience and I guess they can't wait to get the next patient into recovery. As I was waiting for my procedure, a nurse named Kim and a CRNA were arguing dramatically outside of my room. I immediately felt extremely uncomfortable being put under anesthesia with a group of caretakers that can't even get along. I ended up waiting an hour without updates. Upon arrival I filled out form, one asked if I would allow the person driving me home in the room when I woke up or after I spoke to the doctor. The lady at the front desk assured me she would not be called back until I was dressed and fully awake so I checked the box allowing her to be there. Sure enough, I woke up with her already there, in my gown, WITH a person I was uncomfortable with being there and never granted permission for. When I was in the procedure room, the CRNA never told me when he was putting me under. He did it at his leisure with no warning. How would I have had the chance to ask any further questions. This place ultimately only concerns itself with convenience for them and not what's best for the patient. read more

Then they won't send you monthly statements and then have a pushy minion call to demand payment and act mystified as to why you haven't been paying, well how about sending me monthly statements, and then the unctuous, officious, pushy minion refuses to send statements. Bureaucratic Nightmare Medical Industrial Complex Capitalism Uber Alles. In fairness, the nurse and anesthesiologist were fine but I had the feeling of being in a meat processing plant. Finally jumping ship after 3 1-star worthy colonoscopy experiences. ALWAYS more $$ needed when you arrive. CRAZY MONEY too. Who has $1400 sitting around? Not me! My procedures are to be covered by our insurance and I've spent time on the phone with our carrier many times to confirm what I should be paying. Every time I contact the office they say I will have to pay a crazy amount of money up front. I don't understand the break down. They also insist that I owe $400 for the anethstesiologist from 5 years ago. I told them I wasn't paying something that I had no bill for. I gave them my updated address and they still haven't sent anything. If the $ is owed then I'll pay it but 5 years later AND I have to beg them to send bills... BYE Dallas Endoscopy Center. I liked my doctor there but that was the only thing I liked. Well, maybe waking up in the recovery room all loopy was fun but the rest, not so much. read more

Had my procedure done today. Honestly, I don't understand these negative reviews. They took my insurance without any issue whatsoever and required no payment from me. Yes, they were busy, and yes, there are a lot of patients for them to help, but they do it as efficiently as anybody could reasonably expect. As for the people, I found every one of them to be incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. For me, the entire experience was so much better than I had expected. I am definitely going back, and will have zero hesitation in doing so. read more

Patient beware of their business practices. About 2 weeks prior to my scheduled Colonoscopy I started receiving calls asking for a prepayment of my portion not covered by BCBS. I ended up prepaying 1 week prior to my procedure. When I showed up the morning of my Colonoscopy I was asked to fill out a whole bunch of forms and pay an additional amount to what they had already collected from me the week before. One of those forms was for permission for DEC to share any excess funds collected from me and my Insurance Carrier with the Anesthesia Services in addition to the typical form acknowledging that I was responsible for amounts not covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield. As it turns out, both my doctor and DEC were covered by BCBS, but the Anesthesia Services they used wasn't. Invoices started arriving shortly after my visit. As noted, BCBS denied the $1,138 amount billed by the Anesthesia Services. The Service ended up reducing the amount they invoiced me only after my call but also informed me that they had applied a credit from DEC that I had been overbilled for but never notified of by DEC. I ended coming out of pocket more than expected since I had already met my annual deduction and had expected them to arrange to use an Anesthesia Service on my widely accepted BCBS plan. In all fairness, my Colonoscopy was handled very professionally. Just beware of their business practices. read more
