Dallas Passport agency is located in the heart of Downtown, Dallas offering citizens who haven't applied for their passports to receive them in a fashionably time! We had some urgent news arise in our family that had us looking on the web on how to get a passport in our area. After reviewing the user friendly website online it seemed pretty simple so we went ahead and got to work! The first step was filling out the online application and printing it PDF. The next step to have your passport expedited is to show proof of travel so we went ahead and made a purchase and printed out the itinerary. Following that step is to gather proof of citizenship papers or birth certificate. When scheduling your appointment it is very easy to schedule online and they even determine your eligibility by asking a couple questions. Also you will need to print out your appointment paper that was emailed to you as well for confirmation of scheduled appointment. Last but not least is to have a 2x2 printed picture of yourself that can easily be taken at a local drug store. 48 hours prior to the appointment I got a text confirming the appointment and they also had a reminder of items to bring on the day of. When we arrived for our appointment we found paid parking in one of the nearby parking lots nearby and made our way to the Federal court building. As we entered we went through a tight and secured security check which had us empty our pockets and go inside a metal detector. As soon as our screening was complete we were told that the passport office was on the 11th floor. When we arrived we were 30 minutes early but we went ahead and checked in. The first step was to give the lady at the table your appointment confirmation number that was printed out. After confirming our appointment we were told to have a seat on the chairs. As soon as we sat down a gentleman came to us and gathered our paperwork to confirm we had everything that was needed. After confirmation he told us to go to a service window and wait. Within less than 5 minutes we were called upon to the window were we gave our paperwork to a young lady who examined the paperwork and made copies of it. As soon as we were clear she gave us a number and told us to go to the window when the number was called. Immediately after we walked off our number was called and attended the window to receive sercive. This time the friendly lady who provided second to none customer service took the copies of the photo id's and confirmed our mailing address. We were told we can choose 2-3 day shipping or 5-6 days for a small fee. We went ahead and chose the 2-3 day and paid by credit card for the expedited service and shipping for both the passport book and passport card. After that was completed we took a oath of truth and everything was completed in no time. As we walked away I looked at my watch and noticed we still had 5 more minutes until our appointment time but surprisingly we were already taken care of and on our way home! The whole process from booking an appointment on Thursday to have our appointment the following Monday and receiving our passport on Wednesday was uunbelievable! State Dept website said it can take up to 8 weeks to receive passport renewal. Sent mine on March 3. Then website says process can take up to 13 weeks. Have international travel on May 28. Didn't receive passport and had to call on May 15. Had to pay more money for expedition. Received new passport on May 25, 3 days before travel however my old passport which has my visa was not included. Call Dallas Passport Agency who stated it will take 8 more weeks to receive my old passport. Bottom line - lifetime family vacation gone. Family is horrified. Loss approximately $10,000. If your passport has been sent to location 55, you have every right to be concerned. I have lost faith in this agency as I have seen other agencies process passports quicker than this location. My daughters 5 and 7 passports were upon expiration, so we had to request new ones since they are not eligible for renewal. I have ordered many passports in the past 20ish years for myself and my family. We have always received our passports within a month without expediting. I have NEVER had to expedite, but because of the horror stories I've been hearing of, I went ahead and expedited at the time of application. The (877) 487-2778 number is mere waste of time. Some days they allow your call to go through and receive the privilege of waiting of more than an hour and half for the aloof reps to tell you nothing or do nothing. 0/10 do not recommend. It is 6/30/23, and my newborn sons passport has been processing at this location since 4/27/23. Over 9+ weeks with expedited services is ridiculous. With Independence Day approaching, we have 2 business days until our date of travel. I have been waiting for my daughter passport for over 11 weeks. My daughter will be traveling next Wednesday June 14 and still have not received her passport. I have checked online and all it says is in process. I have called the national passport center constantly. They only tell me they can't help, their system is not working and just keep waiting even though she will be traveling next Wednesday. They even told me they would disconnect my call because there's nothing they can do and they have more calls waiting... What does it takes to receive her passport? So disappointed. The government takes your money and gives a timeline. We have expedited our friends passport 10wks ago and nothing. No progress, shows not available, no appts in the country, no help from congressmen, senators, surveys or online message/feedback. And yet!!! Getting through on the 800# to make an appointment, good luck. Make your appointment, finally. Get an email confirmation, print, and bring. Complete the application, bring an expired passport, bring a drivers license, bring a debit/credit card, passport pictures, and proof of travel. Show up, go through security, and wait in a line in the lobby for an hour. Have your papers checked by a staff member. Then, finally, get on an elevator to the floor. Wait in another line for 30 minutes just to have your papers relooked at and get issued a ticket with a letter/number combination. Wait for 60 to 90 minutes. See the representative for less than 5 minutes. Pay the fee. Wait for another 60-90 minutes for order completion. Staff was polite, but how are there only about 8 people working the windows?!?!?? Applied in April and our applications were sent to this location, stuck in processing for 10 weeks despite paying expedited fees for my family of 4. I live in California not sure why they send applications to a different state that we don't have easy access to. I see many reviews of people walking in and out same day with their passports which is great for them but perhaps that creates an even bigger slow down for the rest of us who sent it weeks ago and paid the fees. Our flight is in 3 days and no passports, horrible service!! They need to automatically refund the expedited fees if they're unable to process the application within the 7-9 weeks as stated on the website! Change the system! send applications locally and then to the National Passport Agency rather than different states. A relative received his within 6 weeks from the National Passport Agency!! We have 4 passports stuck "in process" since 3/17. When we went to apply on 3/14 we were told no need to expedite and she wrote on the bottom of our paper that we would get them by May 30th. All of our locater numbers are 55, so they are stuck in this office. We are supposed to leave for Italy in 5 days. Called the 877 number and paid more money to expedite. I have one son already in Italy for a study abroad. We are supposed to meet him there and travel with him. His class and teachers will leave. Waiting on my 18 year old daughters passport for her graduation trip. Sent both my daughters passports back in March and received my youngest daughters passport a month ago. I have called at least twice a week for 2 months trying to figure out what was wrong with my application. All they could say was the agency knows but they could not tell me until I got a letter. The letter didn't arrive, so a week before my trip I finally got an email. They should have just given me the email the first time. I wish I had known what to expect - so I wanted to write a review to help others. Got my appointment by phone two weeks before travel per the expedited process online. On the day of the appointment, I got there to find two expensive parking lots near the building. They had a 10 min grace period - and they mean it. I was trying to find an online option/phone option to pay (which I couldn't find) and then had to wait in line to get my parking. They charged me a $90 fine for going over the grace period, even though I left prior to my 2 hours I paid for. Nothing but dirty crooks. My recommendation - just pay for the day. You are going to be waiting awhile if you don't get lucky like me. I had a 9:30 appointment. Tip: Get the earliest appointment you are offered. When I walked into the building, there were multiple lines in the lobby. Make sure you are in the right line. They line you up by appointment time and only bring up groups at a time. I accidentally lined up in the standby line, so by the time I figured it out, I was the last one in the 9:30 line. However, that worked for me! I was the last one in the elevator when I crammed in - but I was the first one off. I quickly beelined to the office to stand in another line to get checked in. That one I made past all the others in the elevator, so cool. I got checked in and got a DMV number to wait some more. This why you should be generous on your parking. If you get stuck, you are stuck, When I got called up, they made me come back the next day to pick up my passport. Dang it. I live 2 hours away (120 miles) and that was an all day adventure. So I ended up having to take another day off to repeat the process the next day. The passport lady googled my town and sweared that I was only an hour away, ummm - I just drove it. It was all of two hours...very irritating. I pulled my house up on maps and she ignored my mileage. I should have been eligible to pick up my passport that day. But she held the power :| I returned the next day and almost missed my return window because of horrible traffic (it took me 3.5 hours this time to get there, lovely) I skated in right as they were closing the door. Luckily, my son was dealing with the parking. But again being last paid off and slip was at the top. They called people up as every was waiting. The room was packed! 10 minutes later I had my passport and was on my way. The parking place ticket payer thing was not taking my card, so hopefully I don't get another bogus fee in the mail for their ticket meter not working. Came in, with NO appointment - expected to do a simple walk in. Spoke to the security @ the front and he informed me to use their phone they had (on site) to call in hopes they could set me up an appt today. It was either that OR they would tell you to come in 72 hours before your trip. SO, I called and thankfully, they had an opening at 0930 and I had arrived @ 0915. Make sure you have all documentation in hand. It's a breeze, I left within 45 minutes. I leave on the 21st so I paid extra to expedite my renewal form/passport - ETA should be next week before the 15th. I'll keep ya posted! Staff was extremely friendly, surprisingly.
