He delivered it the next day after we started putting down the product we realized that we were going to come up short so I called Matt told him my situation and he brought me another 6 yards within two hours, you cannot get better service than that. Dalman's was an easy place to grab our Christmas tree this year. The trees were in good shape and reasonable priced. While we normally cut our own tree, time and weather this year made Dalman's pre-cut trees a good choice. The service was solid. We were greeted and asked if we needed help. After selecting a tree, it was pulled, bound and loaded on top of our car in the time it took me to pay. The sales cottage was warm and I was offered hot chocolate. Dalman's Evergreens Service is OUTSTANDING! We ordered 12 yards. of mulch to be delivered and spread, and our experience was wonderful. This is the first time we've let someone else spread our mulch, because we have many perienal beds that I don't want mulch dumped on top of the new Spring growth, or trampled by equipment or workers feet so we always do it ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised! Not only was everyone involved friendly and helpful, but the workers themselves did a fabulous job being cautious with our blooming plants, spread carefully in hard to reach areas, and cleaned up after themselves as they went along. The beds were handled "as good as", or better by Dalman's Team, than we could have done ourselves. If you don't want to take the time to mulch your own beds, I highly recommend using Dalman's Evergreens! Their product (3x processed aged mulch) and their service is outstanding! read more

I bought firewood from them last year. I couldn't get it to burn for anything. I wound up buying another face cord from someone else. Also they backed into and broke my fence. Not reccomend. read more

Great local service....2 cases in point - Mr. Dalman was delivering mulch to the house down the street - stopped by introduced himself, we chatted briefly, he gave us some helpful hints on our old mulch and dropped off a card...Based on his friendliness and service, decided to switch to him vs. Lumberjacks in 2013. Mulch (5 yards) was $40 cheaper than Lumberjacks (wife thought Lumberjacks was "woodier" while Dalmans had a little more dirt - FYI depending on your preference). Then, @3 weeks later the city tore out a tree by our house and planted a new one.....we needed more mulch to cover the hole - I drove to Dalmans, hoping to buy a bag.....a guy working there - (different from the guy who delivered) once he verbally found out we had bought from them and I told him the story (no receipt, was nice enough to just take my word for it) - just let me fill a trash bag from the pile to take home - I offered to pay - he wouldn't take money. In today's day - when everybody buys on line or from a big box store....this level of service is EXACTLY why you should always go to your local business first.... read more

Last year I ordered a face cord of half oak and half cherry from Dalman's. When it was delivered to my home I could tell it was neither oak or cherry. The driver confirmed I was correct and loaded everything that was dumped in my driveway back onto the truck and later returned with the correct order. At the time I thought it was an honest mistake but in light of the events that have recently taken place I believe Dalman's brought cheap mixed wood in place of the cherry/oak and thought nobody would know the difference. I called Dalman's last week and placed the same order. I was told that the wood would be delivered on Wednesday 11/21. I called Dalman's early on the morning of 11/21 and confirmed that the wood would be delivered. Around 4:00 p.m. Dalman's still had not been out but I thought maybe they were running behind due to the upcoming holiday. At 4:30 p.m. I received a call from Matt Dalman explaining that he was down a truck and running behind so would I mind if he delivered the wood tomorrow which was Thanksgiving. I told him since we would not be home on Thanksgiving he could just bring it on Friday 11/23. I just got home tonight and guess what? No wood. No phone call from Dalman's with an explanation. The check still taped to the door. I called Dalman's and as my phone was ringing I received a text that said "I can't talk now, call back later." Really? This is how you run a business? Take my advice and get your wood and mulch elsewhere. Matt Dalman is unprofessional and cannot be trusted. read more

This company doesn't even deserve a star but that wasn't an option. NEVER BUY MULCH HERE! They are SELLING AN INFERIOR PRODUCT that looks nothing like their picture online or in their "sample" at the store. The free mulch from the county is better than this!!!!!!!!! 1. They messed up my order and delivered the wrong mulch. 2. I personally took a bag of mulch to show them and it was confirmed (by 2 workers) that is was in fact the wrong mulch. They thought it was the lowest quality trail mulch. (The office manager told me I was lying). Can you believe this???? 3. I waited a week to be contacted to no avail so and had to call myself. 4. I spoke to the owner Matt Dalman personally who said he would "make it right" and would get back to me. Well...5 days later and I didn't hear anything. 5. I called back and spoke to the most disgraceful, unprofessional office manager who called me a liar, and she was "done with me" and hung up on me twice among other words. 6. I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN TREATED IN A MANNER LIKE THIS COMPANY HAS TREATED ME. I am also contacting the BBB as no one should be treated like this! What happened to the customer is always right? Do yourself a favor and buy from Countryside in Crystal Lake or somewhere where they don't false advertise. read more

I was told by my wife to get mulch so I went to 3 places for friendly service and a good product. The 3rd place I stopped in was Dalman's in Crystal Lake and talked to a very friendly and knowledgeable person by the name of Katie Dalman. Decided to buy mulch from here instead of my usual (Eddie's) for the last 7 years. BIG mistake. The mulch shown on the website for double ground is VERY shredded and fine. The double ground mulch we received was chunkier. I can live with it. But what I can't live with is the stinkhorns (look it up) that I've NEVER had in my landscaping until this year when I used their mulch. Apparently I've learned that if there's compost in the mulch you will get stinkhorns. They are AWFUL to deal with and difficult to remove. I can't attest to their services but I can tell you not to buy their mulch. read more

Bought mulch from them last year. It was the third year in a row. However, what they delivered is not what was ordered. When when spoke with the owner he said he would make it right. Instead, they chose to keep our money and his employee called us and told us we were liars. They have no appreciation for the cutomer. Simply look a the mulch they showed on their website and did not compare to what was delivered. We tried to get our money back from credit card company and they lied to them as well. I would never go back there and I tell everybody I know go somewhere else. read more
