I wanted two copies made of the key to our '97 Dodge Roadtrek, which seemed easy enough and which he had blanks of. The first thing that made me stop in my tracks was a sign that said "no debit or credit cards accepted for keys made." WTH is this! Nowadays businesses accept all types of payment! And when I asked about programming a key fob for our Subaru, he said "it'll start at $250, because I'll have to use special equipment." I told him that almost what the dealer would charge! I thought that patronizing him as a small business would be good, but the attitude was not worth patronizing. There are lots of other key makers in our area. read more

Ii's nice today to have an individual business that does one thing and does it very well. I needed a key copied for a 55 year old car. It was done correctly and quickly. Attitude and no care for customer. Avoid at all cost. Charged 25 for a key that took 5 mins to cut, because first time I went was a little frustrated they could not remove a locking hitch pin. My auto guy cut it off with a circular cutting tool in 5 mins. read more

I went in today to get a few copies of my house keys made. This is the closest locksmith to my house and I was pressed for time. Upon entering the business I was told to hold on a minute by an employee behind the counter. There where no customers in the building and maybe three employees. While waiting for my keys to get cut I noticed a small sign that said no credit or debit accepted... I asked the employee if the policy was true and I got a very annoyed response.. I ended up walking two blocks to an ATM and pulled some cash out. When I came back I was helped by another employee. I asked what the process was if the keys did not work.. She very aggressively replied that my keys where not originals but duplicates and that they just go over them. She got even more angry when I asked her to answer my question instead of blaming the keys I brought in. I was met with more aggression and deflection.. I paid for my keys and left. Came in a few weeks ago because Home Depot at Westlake Shopping Plaza couldn't cut our key for an old desk drawer. Jay was very friendly & professional. I asked about Off Hour Services, hope I never need it. Before he gave his his card, he informed to my Wife & I to be aware that a lot Scammers. They would advertise about low price, but when the Locksmith gets there, they switch the price. And who knows they won't make another key for themselves. Jay told us he needs to get fingerprinted with Bureau. Don't always trust yelp* & Yellow Pages, they just want money, they'll advertise anything & anyone as long as they get paid. read more

I asked DC lock to help some tenants out when their two locks and gate were damaged at 7pm. Luckily for me they have emergency lock service and a fully stocked truck. They were able to go to their store and bring over the replacement gate strikes that were also destroyed. Mike and Jay both locksmiths came over in 45 minutes. They arrived at 10:30pm and finished in an hour. With so many break ins in the city from kicked in doors, pry bar attacks, a locksmith maybe booked out for a couple of days. It was worth the extra service charges to have the tenants property secured. They also had to bend the gate back in different locations to make it straight to correct the damage that was done. Because I had two locksmiths there it reduced the trip time to one hour otherwise it would have been two hours or more for one locksmith. The tenants were happy the property was secured the same evening. If your doors and gates are not straight and plumb it will not close properly. The next day as as thank you to them, I brought Memphis Minnie's to their store in Daly City. I hope they enjoyed the Wednesday special of Ruben sandwiches and a full rack of ribs. I purchased a Cal Royal lock from Daly City Locksmith about 6 months ago. Nearly a month ago it broke, and the key would turn 360* inside the lockset/cylinder without opening the front door. I finally managed to make it over to their store today and the helpful attendant was able to diagnose and fix the issue with the lock in just 5 minutes. I deeply appreciate their willingness to help fix the lock, as it wasn't very old. When I originally purchased the lock, the younger man spent 5-10 minutes with me determining which lock would best fit our situation. I hope they have loads of success into the future. read more

Class act. My wife and I locked ourselves out on a very rainy Saturday night, and this awesome guy not only agreed to drive down the peninsula to meet us in Burlingame on short notice, but when our neighbors let us use their balcony to get inside, he told us the only thing that mattered was that we got home safe when we called to let him know (he was almost there, too). He didn't charge us anything! No cancellation fee, no gas money, nothing - how fantastic is that? DC locksmiths is amazing, Yvette is a total doll. She knows her shit and makes sure you understand how and what to do to test your freshly cut keys. I called Yvette on the phone before I came in because I was having an issue matching a blank (apparently it's pretty rare nowadays) and she was able to find the proper blank within seconds. I told her that I would be in that day and when I arrived she already had pulled the blank and was ready to cut the key. I needed her to cut two of them so she pulled a second one with a direct efficiency that was impressive, the speed at which she cut and polished the new keys shows her years of experience. If you need any type of NEW service for cars, DON"T even bother. These guys can't read a handbook. Came in with a transponder key for my car, because it took them 3 weeks to order me one and it never came. Had to order myself. Then they had no clue on how to re program. I was looking all over Google for a place nearby that made keys with cute designs to help distinguish my keys. I was about to order online from the keys app but their designs were ugly. I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp. They have a lot of cute designs to choose from: 49ers, Star Wars, Margarita, Rose, and Hello Kitty. (About $5 a key depends on design, still cheaper than keys app) They were super fast and there's a couple chairs to sit and wait. I just tested the keys and they all worked fine. read more

Lost my house keys-lucky me, someone was home to let me in. Thought Home Depot Colma, 0639 would provide a quick fix. However, Kwikset no longer makes this type of deadbolt. The first hardware associate suggested to enlarge the door hole (not a good solution). The second hardware associate named 'Wes' said 're-key the dead bolt' and suggested 'Daly City Locksmith of Daly City, CA'. Upon arrival, Yvette Sink accessed the deadbolt and gave me a great price for re-keying and two new brass keys. I explained how quickly I needed the work done, because of leaving town. Immediately, Yvette and her professional staff dropped what they were doing and went to work on my deadbolt. Even though I was sweating bolts, the staff worked quietly and diligently to finish my dead bolt. By accident, I lost one of the long stem screws and they fished a spare out of their scrape pile. Yvette and her staff cut it down to size and I was again out the door in time to make my travel plans. I highly recommend Yvette Sink and her Staff. The key to my vehicle broke off in the door last night. It was dark and so I called Daly City Locksmith at 0630 the next morning and spoke to Jay. He spoke to me like he knew what he was doing and assured me that he would call me at 0830 when his shop opened. At 0830 called as promised, he was on the phone with me checking the numbers and make of the car. Then within 15 minutes he pulled up in front of my garage with his van and after a hand shake started working on my problem. He was professional and went about pulling the broken key out of the car. Then he went into his van that contained a complete workshop and made me a brand new key that was better than the key that failed me. I was saved because the only spare key to that car was in 800 miles away in souther California. Thank you Jay and thank you Daly City Locksmiths. This business is professional in every way possible. this is a small joint in dc that does the job. not too far from top of the hill. 1st time i came here the guy was super groucy.. this is years ago so, i don't even remember the experience play-by-play, but i do remember him getting all bitchy and telling me to take the key off the ring. nonetheless he did the job. but i don't expect superb customer service @ a locksmith, maybe just a smile will do. another time i came in w/the bf. had my keys cut by this awsome native indian woman. i just liked her spirit. she was rad, spunky, and tough. i mean i'm sure she can work just as hard as a man, if not more! she was kind enough to take the keys off the key ring, told me not to worry about messing up my manicure... girls just get it. she was straight up and legit too.. the bf needed some key duplicated, but she said that it was a special one that she couldn't do. said she they could get fined doing that. that being said, if you can trust someone who doesn't want to make an easy buck, you can trust them cutting your house/car keys... There used to be a locksmith shop in nearly every neighborhood where you could take a troublesome lock for service or get an obscure key made. I had the notion that they were mostly World War II vets who learned their craft in the military or on the G.I. Bill. Now they're gone, replaced by portable locksmiths who will come to your house to work on your locks. It's not the same. Thank goodness Daly City Locksmith is still there, and it looks like it's not going anywhere. read more

I went there to cut a car key. The guy quoted a high price ($15 each) and was rude and said there was no refund if key doesn't work. Should have walked but I didn't. The key cut didn't work and another staff, a nice lady, asked me to come back next day to fix it. I bought them another unused original the next day. They couldn't fix my blank so they cut on their own blank with another machine. That didn't work either and they said they were out of blanks. I order more blanks myself and went to a different place on Mission (Mario's). The lady there cut all 5 blanks without missing a beat, all worked perfectly, at 1/3 the price. So you have been warned, Daly City Locksmith can't cut car keys and they still charge you 3 times of another nearby locksmith who actually knows how to cut keys. read more
