I don't normally do my nails so I am unfamiliar with how gel polished is removed. The technician just sanded them until one of them hurt. When I asked about acetone she said that it would damage the nails and that this was better. And when I got home the tip of my natural nails started to split. Unimpressed. I'm going to say the good first - Anu and the girls are nice at accommodating my walk in. I had a gym accident and my freshly done ring finger nail from @naileditstudios broke off and I rushed into the closest nail salon to where I was walking to get it fixed. First- they didn't have the exact shade (no biggie, I settled for a similar colour.) then they didn't have the gold tape thing that every single nail shop I've been in has (it's a basic necessity of nail art and one of the easiest nail art tools) ... sigh. So I had her do one solid colour. The nail shape originally was coffin, and no matter what she did, it just didn't look right. I had to go home and file it to a more "coffin" shape myself. Also when she was shaving my nail down, she hit the sides of my cuticles a few times which isn't excruciating pain but does fucking hurt. It's fine; she applied cuticle oil to my hands at the end, and that was nice. It was $11ish for one nail fix with tax. A solid colour with extension. The gel manicure at nailed it is only $30 for a full set. The problem I have is that the gel here sucks!!! It's soooo flimsy, the extension and gel on top was so weak that it pealed off in one week and 1 day exactly. See the attached pics - so horrific. I didn't do anything to them and they were just so bad. The whole thing just fell off and all I've been doing is just sitting at a damn office desk all day. Came here for a pedicure on a quiet Friday afternoon. We sat in massage chairs while we got a scrub and some TLC for our feet. Had a shellac manicure, regular pedicure and eyebrow threading at affordable prices. I really enjoyed the service here. The ladies are very nice, efficient, quick and detail oriented. My nails were shaped and painted so perfectly and over a week later it still haven't peeled! I often find my shellac nails will start to lift at rhe does within a week but I'm shocked that they are still intact. My eyebrow shape I can't stop raving about. I have an issue where one eyebrow's arch is higher than the other side and no one could ever even it out with me but the girls at Anu were able to on the first try. Overall, the salon was clean when I was there there was a good flow of clients coming in and out for threading and mani/pedi. It'll definitely be my new go-to salon. Service was really nice and price was good but I, for one, will never go back there. Firstly, my shellac manicure took AGES to get done. I had 3 services done and spent over 2 hours at the salon, over an hour of which was spent on my shellac alone.. I'm pretty sure that shellac is supposed to be a quick job.. Oh, and it's not even like it took a long time because they were doing crazy designs and giving it their all - I just wanted one simple solid colour! Bless this girl cause she was so sweet, but she was just terrible at this. Not only did she give me square tips when I asked for round, but she didn't even care to even my nails out to even lengths. My two thumbs, when compared were completely different lengths. Secondly, while applying the Polish, she kept grazing my other fingers and having to re-do them. By the end, there was a dent in the Polish of my right thumb but I didn't say anything because at that point I was just way too late for my plans and I just wanted to get put of there! Went to Anu Beauty Spa to get my nails done for my wedding. Unfortunately my favourite spa was fully booked and I had to choose the closest location. My maid of honour also came with me to do shellac and my husband got a pedicure. This was by far THE worst shellac ever. Despite not having that many customers at that time of the day, they asked one of the least experienced girls to do my nails. She did not feel confident and after hearing it's for a bride, she talked to someone else and asked them to do something else instead. The girl went on to do my husband's pedicure, which turned out to be the worst he got. The lady that did shellac for me (who seemed like was the owner) did a horrible job. The nails looked bumpy and unnatural. She charged extra for French Manicure, and I honestly would have done a better job myself at home. A week later one of my nails broke. It is supposed to last for at least 2 weeks! My nails were so severely damaged that I could not get them done for months, to let them grow and recover from the damage. My maid of honour's shellac lasted less than a week. They started chipping days after getting them done. I will never be back again and I highly recommend anyone who is thinking of going here to choose another salon. TLDR: terrible job. Crooked bumpy nails. Wow. I gotta say, this was one of the worst nail salon experience I have ever had (and I get my nails done every two weeks, and have been to dozens of salons around Toronto). Decided to stop by this one as I was short on time and the review was decent. First off, I had bio-gel under my shellac because that's how they did shellac at the shop I went to get my nails done the previous time. My nail tech starts off my soaking my nails, and removing the shellac. She then pushed the shellac off and started her filing process. Only once she was "done getting rid of all the shellac", I turned my hand to check the work so far. She had left patches of biogel still on my nails. I asked her why she didn't remove it, and she told me she thought I would like to keep it on. Now, I don't like to make scenes in public spaces so I asked her why she would think that and that I would of course like it taken off. She then told me it would be an extra $15. At that point, I asked her why, if she knew this was biogel, she didn't tell me from the get-go. She then denied knowing that it was biogel. I didn't want to keep the conversation going for it to lead to an argument so I asked her for the nail file so that I can file it off myself. The owner (Anu) came by at that point and she told me the same thing the technician did, despite my telling her that I was going to file it off myself because I wasn't told of the ridiculous price prior to. I mean, who charges $15 to file off biogel that can be done using a mechanical file?! By the way, I have NEVER had this issue when I went to different salons with the same type of nails. As the owner continued her argumentative tone, I told her I don't want to argue and that it's okay but I just didn't want to spend $15 for something I can spend 5 minutes to do on my own. Remember at this point that nobody cared to tell me of this prior to. She let me file my own nails until i had three left to go and she decided to use the mechanical file to finish it off herself. I guess she felt bad. I thanked her. After this, the technician who worked on my nails in the beginning came back and started to try to push my cuticles completely dry. Of course, nothing was pushed. It was dry. I asked her if she can do actually manicure as I was looking for shellac MANICURE. She told me that they don't use water to soak the fingers for shellac manicure, just their regular manicure. Which is also ridiculous because anyone who knows getting nails done knows that you have to soak your cuticles in SOMETHING for them to PUSH. She got me a bowl of water to soak my nails. Following all that; she started painting my nails. She took her time. I was expecting exceptional painting job cause it took her 30 minutes to finish just the painting/curing process. I've never had this process take more than 15 minutes before. She was moving slow and "fixing" her job constantly by running her finger nails through my cuticles. I didn't think anything of it. I figured, she must be doing a really nice job since she's working so so slow. At my topcoat stage, I checked my nails (I don't like to check my nails every step of the way so as not to pressure the technicians). THERE WAS NAIL POLISH EVERYWHERE. IT WAS ON ALL MY CUTICLES. I asked her how long she's been doing nails for and she said TWO YEARS. At this point, honestly, I was dumbfounded at the horrible experience I had and how untrained their technician of two years was. If you check pictures of some other reviews, you will also see many nails with their cuticles painted (LOL). I should've checked the pictures before heading in... I tipped her (out of courtesy) but told her that I was extremely disappointed and that that was worst nail job I have ever received. She was a nice lady, just terrible at her job. The owner was also very hostile and unaccommodating, much much more so than the technician herself. I'm obviously never going here again. But I honestly wouldn't wish for anyone else to waste $30 to get their nails redone the next day, which is what I need to do now. The pictures I put on here is after I have picked at my cuticles already. I should've taken a picture of it as soon as I got them done but I honestly couldn't bare looking at them that way. Overpriced terrible... i had to go home and finish pumicing my feet and file my nails after paying $62 for a pedicure. The staff barely speaks English and didn't check if i liked the colour before doing my entire foot. They were really rude after when i enquired about the price. I do not recommend this salon based on my experience. The lady who did my nails was very sweet, but it took her 1.5 hours to do a shellac removal and shellac change. She cut into my cuticles an excessive amount, where I actually have cut marks 4 days after (see photos attached). She also buffed my nails so very thin, that once I left the salon, they would bend at the slightest touch. My nails have never been so thin, and this was WITH shellac. It's not like my nails are in bad shape, this was my second shellac mani in one year. They were so thin that one nail actually broke almost down the middle. So I went in to fix it and the manager was so rude to me and yelled at me in-front of the whole salon, saying that it was my fault I have thin nails. They only agreed after 30 minutes, to fix the one nail but not put an extra layer on my other nails. This place is a gem! I was a walk in and I was immediately greeted. Anu took my coat and made me feel welcome. I got a shallac manicure and regular pedicure. And then I also got my brows threaded. My pedicure was awesome. The massage chair was comfortable, I listened to top 40 radio and had my toes polished and pampered. Then the technician (May) did my shallac manicure. I had the CND shallac and the UV lights were from the same company. No fake stuff here. The polish was put on nicely and I had no globs/thick areas. PERFECT. Anu did my brows and even massaged my forehead after. What a nice touch! And the price was so reasonable: $8. I told her she needs a stamp card and she told me after 10 times, just come and tell her and she will do it for free. How sweet! I will definitely keep coming back. It doesn't matter who does it they're all really great and I love the shape of my eyebrows every single time! I started doing my nails here too, and not only were they amazing, it was a blast, I was chatting with everyone that worked there. I love the quality of the work but more so I love the environment and how fun everyone is! They never make you feel uncomfortable, they're mostly from Nepal but they never speak another language around you (which I think is so rude), and they're extremely friendly. I've become a regular customer here over the last few months and have loved the convenience of the location and have had generally good threading and manicures. I was excited to have my nails done today. But ended up having a very unsettling experience instead. When I got to the salon, one of the women that work there told the owner that I was fat in Hindi and laughed. She didn't realize I was Indian and understood what she had said. The best thing about this salon, is the girls are very friendly, especially Anu(the owner). I went in for a Brazilian wax, priced at $50(seems higher than average, or is this just Toronto?) The wax was done quickly, and what it seemed at the time, expertly. Few days later, my hair was growing out thick like a shave. Few days later, I had lots of hair growing out as if I've shaved - Felt like my bf's beard. I can only assume that the wax was not hot enough, or the hair was pulled in the wrong direction, causing it to break at the skin, not pull from the root. Will not be returning again. read more

I've been here twice now. I've been to many nail salons, some basic and some pricier. Compared to other Toronto salons, Anu doesn't offer good customer service or value. I'm fine with basic service, as long as you're offering good value and a great mani/pedi. We made a reservation in advance. When we arrived we weren't greeted at all (we were ignored). Throughout our appointment, I noticed other customers dropping by for walk-ins who weren't treated in a friendly way either. Some weren't greeted at all. Anu was understaffed for our appointment, which isn't the end of the world, but instead of telling us or addressing us, we noticed they were only setting up 2 chairs. It would have been a basic nicety to let us know one of us would have to wait. Even though it would now take longer for all 3 of us to get pedicures, we decided to stay - 2 of us got pedis while the 3rd person waited. A shellac pedi costs $45. If you want a razor used on your feet (as my friend did) it costs an extra $5. The actual pedicure was fine - after I got home, I noticed a few spots on my toes are a little sloppy/don't cover the full nail. read more

I've had better pedicures before, even at the same price point ($25 for my boyfriend, $45 for me with shellac). The service really was just OK at best, closer to being a little sub-par. When we first got there, I felt a little bit awkward. We didn't get too much direction from the lady at the front as to where to put our jackets or snow boots should go, nor where we should have sat in the pedi chairs; we were just kind of standing there at the front. There might have been a slight language barrier, but I would have thought that level of communication is a standard part of the service. A few things that had bothered me: 1. The lady that worked on me didn't push my cuticles back to clean up my toes/clean up the shape. 2. The exfoliating tool they use is just a foam scrub (as opposed to a "grater"). This was applied very roughly on my skin, especially because she also went up my legs, to the bottom half of my legs. The skin on my legs (and perhaps for many women), particularly during the winter, is much more delicate and sensitive. This was painful. 3. My boyfriend had some calluses/dry skin on his feet and he claimed they weren't treated too much. I might come here again if I'm desperate because it's close to our place, but it wouldn't be a top choice. read more

Best Pedicure I've ever had! VERY impressed. My feet look like a million bucks and I've gotten tons of compliments on my toe colour and nail art...I feel as though I went to a spa for 45 mins. My total was $35 for the whole shebang - polish removal, foot scrubbing, cuticle cutting, foot massage, painting, and nail art. I highly, highly recommend. I made an appointment the day before as they warned me they would be busy. I decided to give this place a try as I've been going to the same salon for over a year and wanted to try something new. When we arrived we were greeted by the workers. They seemed confused to see us. They told us to sit down and we waited about 10 minutes before Anu said we can start soaking our feet. My friend and I probably soaked our feet for a good 20 minutes before someone was able to see us. I understand, they were working on other clients. But we could have gone somewhere else if they were overbooked. Anyways, finally someone comes and the services itself weren't bad. They were very good but I find that they are a little disorganized. My nail tech would disappear for 5 mins while I was mid way through my manicure. Don't get me wrong the services provided were fine, prices are standard but I thought they were a little disorganized during my visit. I'm not sure if I will come back as I did go out of my way to come to this location and I was not overly impressed. They are super busy though so I can tell they have a loyal clientele. I went in for a pedi. Contrary to other reviews, I was a bit disappointed to find out that the tools they used weren't as hygienic as I expected. Maybe other reviews meant that the place itself is clean, and it was. They had a decent selection of nail polishes and spa chairs w back massage option (I loved). But I didn't feel like their pedicure tools were as clean as my old salon (aroma wellness on Bloor and Bathurst). Maybe it's because I'm used to aroma's packaged tools coming freshly out of the wrapper. Aroma also dispose nail files right in front of you. I'd like to believe that Anu is as hygienic as Aroma, but it'll be more convincing if Anu also had wrapped their tools, or dispose files or buffers right in front of you, or at least not throw them back in the drawers while I'm still getting the pedi done. However, other than hygiene, I'm pretty happy with this place because my pedicure turned out fantastic. The cuticles were pushed back cleanly, my heels were exfoliated really well, and colour was applied well. The other problem I had was that the aesthetician accidentally left a small dent on one of the toenail, which is fine, and tried to fix it, but the next customer arrived so the receptionist kept rushing the aesthetician to finish it off quickly. I'd appreciate it more if she just put me in the dryer first and then worked back and forth between me and the next customer, instead of getting mine rushed and the next customer wait forever. I didn't think the matter was professionally handled. It's a small place with a limited number of staff, so it'll be better to make an appointment than just to drop in. The overall experience for me was so-so. I might visit again if I'm too lazy to try other salons, but I'm not too keen on the place. Pedi,other than the rushed toe, was done nicely though. I am not impressed. I asked for shellac as I have incredibly weak nails that break very easily. The girl only put one coat on than a couple layers of top coat. I thought maybe they use a better quality shellac than where I have been going over the years in Vancouver - as I read all these great reviews about the place and particularily the shellac. Should have known better, one nail chipped within 2 days, two weeks later now I have two nails where the shellac has peeled off most of the nail and multiple chips. The salon I frequented in Vancouver, did such a good job I could make my french manicure last up to 5 weeks without a chip!! I am extremely disappointed and will definitely not go back. Other warning sign should have been when the girl who was doing my pedicure didn't know how to remove ingrown toenails. I just came here for the first time for a walk-in pedicure, and I was very very pleased with the experience. I was lucky as I came in around 2 PM, so it was a quiet time - there was only one other customer when I came in, but two others also came in while I was getting my pedicure done. Anyway, that meant that I got to relax in a fairly quiet salon, and the ladies working were also all relaxed and able to focus fully on their customers. The salon was larger than I expected and brightly lit. The lady who did my pedicure was very sweet and was for the most part very gentle, although it did hurt a bit when she was cleaning under my nails, she was quite vigorous. The only other minor complaint I have is that she did not ask me what shape I wanted my nails to be filed in. Perhaps she just assumed based on the natural shape of my nails, but still, what if for once I had wanted them to be more rounded? Overall though she did a great job, and my feet look and feel great. I found that this beauty spa had a lot more focus on the "spa" part of the pedicure, particularly with the leg lotion/massage which was quite thorough and which I very much enjoyed. This was probably one of the most tranquil pedicure experiences I've ever had! Would not hesitate to return again! Full body wax- the lady doing it at first was super nice..anu walks in like 20min later and keeps telling her to hurry up. She eventually told her to do something else and Anu quickly waxes whatever was left- kept missing huge chunks (back of arms/knees etc) with clearly visible hair. Had to point them out at least 5-6times. Anu was starting to get super annoyed and just left the room/told me to tweeze the rest myself. I was so pissed. It's not even like it was a good price either- I'm not v hairy and she said $120 over the phone. I get there and she charges me $160. To make it worse I have a ton of ingrowns to this day (went in sept) Friend had a similar experience re: waxing (refusing to be more diligent) I've heard she's good for nails tho read more

Great place, the reviews I read about the excellent eyebrow threading were correct. The lady spent about 3 minutes on them and they came out looking very clean without changing the shape drastically.
